mine was number six; Norway, pretty low on the list considering it have been named "the best country in the world to live in" for so many years in a row that it started way before i was borne, i'm 21.

EDIT: Oh, and congratulations to Finland, everybody knows the Scandinavian countries are the greatest in the world.

Hey, no fair. Australia fourth? ... We are second on the UN's 2007-2009 HDI ;.;

Norway can kiss our ass. We'd be number one if our 23 million strong population belonged in a nation as small as a tuna can like all other European nations (and yes I'm joking. About the veiled anger, but not about the tuna can remark :p).

You know how much it costs to build schools and medical clinics for places with only a 100 people in it? Not without mentioning that that 100 people are also 500 miles from anywhere in the middle of a desert continent?
ain't any easier in Norway, ok nowadays we are more centered around a few major cities but our country is Looong, Norway have the longest coast line of ANY country, that includes Australia and other islands, and where only 4-5 million people spread out on this large land, so get your facts together.

Get YOUR facts together ... CANADA has the longest coastline in the world. And Australia has a longer coastline anyways ... (and that's not including our protectorates or terriotorial acquisitions such as half of Antarctica, Papua New Guinea or Torres Strait)

http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/world-top-ten-longest-coastline-countries-map.html

Besides .. coastal communities are easy. You can ship food, supplies and even water if things get desperate and it's easy as pie. It takes 5 men and a freighter to ship supplies.

A desert community that is landlocked requires heat shielding and other countermeasures, railways and roads for continuous trucking ... of which can only haul so much cargo ... of which require shipping to the country to begin with anyways.

Yeah, the Finland seems like a greeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaat place to live.
Unimpressed
"The following is a list of suicide rates by country according to data from the World Health Organization from 2008 in which a country's rank is determined by its total rate deaths officially recorded as suicides"

Also, there are officially no homosexuals in Iran.
It's not like I'm using Iran as an example. I pretty sure that for developed countries, the the ranking is relatively accurate.
You are using a country where suicide is reported as suicide as an example and links to an article that reports only official suicide rates. Being honest does not make Finland any less of a country.
Where, pray tell, DID I SAY THAT? Seriously dude, did you really think it was the honesty I had a problem with? My home country is 41th on that list, and we report suicide as suicide. Finland is 11th.
You didn't say very much actually, only that because people (about 8 in per 100.000) off them selves a little more in Finland than the US, it can't be the best country in the world. That would make Haiti the best country (that has suicide records) in the world.

I guess it's time to celebrate our victory at something at long last.

Go blue and white :D

And wasn't there some mistake with us getting 102 points from education or something?

But it's interesting what it tells of us when the national opinion was immediately "This can't be true, there must be a mistake somewhere. I mean, #1? Come on."
Yeah, me and my friend just though it was a joke :D

Yeah, the Finland seems like a greeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaat place to live.
So people kill themselves because the country's education system sucks?

Sure. Of course suicides have nothing to do with personal problems.
