Doom was my first when I was like 5 or something.

DOOM, back when I was 7 or 8, probably not the best game for a young child, but it was awesome.
O yeah. My step mom had a fit every time she caught me playing Doom or Duke Nukem. It was hilarious. Now I am a perfectly stable adult with only 3 murders under my belt.

Battlefield 1942. Not old enough to be cool and retro, not new enough to be appreciated by younglings. Still, plenty of good times all round.
By Battlefield standards, '42 is plenty cool and retro. To this day it's the only BF I still play, too.

For me if it wasn't Goldeneye it was definitely Quake 2- so many hours at school just smashing it out in multiplayer on The Edge.

Oh wait- no, no it was Duck Hunt. Good point guys, can't argue with that one.

Doom, and it was scary.
Edit: If duck hunt counts I guess it was that, downer. -_-

If MDK counts, it was that. Hella fun game by the way. If it doesn't count, then it was probably Unreal Tournament 2004, another very fun game.

It saddens me that it's so hard to fine people to play UT3 online v_v

Halo 3. It's probably the only FPS I really care about, and even then it's more "meh". Insanely fun to play online with your buddies though, which is probably my biggest complaint about Modern Warfare 2. Well....one of....

I was there at the beginning. Wolfenstein and Doom. The two first, true first person shooters. There were first person games before that (and yes, I played them) but those two were the first to create the model of gameplay we all know and love today.

I was inducted into the wonderful world of gaming at a very, very young age.
