Those reviews are surprisingly good.

I still really don't want to buy it though.
Given the campaign is still only 5 hours long? Pitiful.
They play on easy, to finish the game faster. Play on heroic, and it will be more like 10 hours.
It took them 5 hours to finish on EASY? I can and have finishred Halo 3 in 6 hours on Heroic without dying. The games aren't that hard.

Side unrelated note* I hope they take out or fix the armor lock thing from the beta. It was the worst class. Oh and I probably won't get this game because all my friends will so I'll borrow it and play the campaign with my bro. Yes I'm a cheap bastard : D.

im going to get it but i just hate the idea that they nerfed the melee attack. melee attacks will kill whats left of the shield but wont do any health damage which i think is stupid

Games Radar made an interesting point, that it feels more like a sequel to ODST than Halo 4, which is a little dissapointing to hear but as we know, the sensible thing is not to listen to critics and decide for ourselves.
Really? I can't really see that, but beyond that, this is not supposed to be Halo 4. This is a prequel, not a sequel; making it like the Halo Trilogy in some ways would have undermined its real purpose.

OT: I'm looking forward to it immensely. :D

'The fuck you been looking at mate?

All across the board, people have said it's much longer than ODST. Most of em saying it's 8-10 hours long, which is average nowadays.

I know I'll be replaying the campaign over and over by myself, plus co-op campaign adds so many more replays.

And then there's all the multi-player.

And forge world.

DAMNIT I WANT IT NOW!!!
10 hours is more acceptable. I'll admit I didn't look too deep into the reviews, just browsed through the snippets on metacritic to see if anybody mentioned it; sure enough the only guys who did said it was only 5 hours. My apologies for making a premature assumption. I'll definitely admit that Forge World looks like a pretty damned spiffy level editor.

I'm going at midnight to pick up a Limited Edition copy. Judging by the reviews so far, I don't think I'm going to regret it. I played the shit out of Halo 3: ODST's Firefight mode even though most of the time it was a strictly solo affair. I'm not kidding [http://www.bungie.net/stats/halo3/gamehistoryodst.aspx?player=DetroitHands]; it's almost embarrassing how much I played it.

So yeah. I'm really looking forward to Reach's new and improved Firefight.
Not so improved. Although the rocket fight mode is awesome some parts of customization of the rounds feels a little lacking. But the jet packs are awesome and the new forgeworld maps are beyone epic. All the add on abilities like jet pack and strafe and awesomely the clone decoy which is indistinguishable from you (to an enemy) allows for more tactical competitive gameplay.I have a sad feeling they took away a bit too much like the hornets are gone and they did not add enough new vehilces (basically none) (though the new falcon which holds 4 people and has 2 gunner seats is awesome the pilot has no guns so its not supportive of single player pwnage and the banshee is nerfed (snipers can shoot it down with their rifles easily). Also only 2 grenade types. But the weapons are awesome. The new weps are really cool (four shot burst homing sticky grenade cannon and laser beam sniper that hold sustained laser and also a sniper spiker) and the old ones have all been updated in little ways (spartan laser has a small screen the shotguns new model looks cooler the battle rifle was scrapped and its replacement is a single shot headshot oriented gun which is a bit shite but fuck it the sniper is so much more powerful). Finally they nerfed whacking. You have to be really really point blank to whack and its nowhere near as quick and satisfying but the stealth assasination from behind is kinda cool (you slit their throught but I cant see how its better than just whacking from behind and continuing).

Finally i am not a pirate my friend got the leaked version and I just played it at his house for a good few hours.

wait whaaa? the armor shield lock was easily in the top 2, it was the ultimate rusher for capture the flag and king of the hill type maps, not to mention it destroys vehicles if they try and run your ass over, the invisibility is much harder to use in bigger battles, and speed and jetpack are goodies for any occasion

I probably won't be able to get it until November. I know too many people with birthdays in October to spend any money on myself.

Who's psyched? And who's going in at midnight? I know I am, like the true nerd I am :D
The closer it gets to release time, the more psyched I become. I love the Halo franchise and REACH looks to be as good an entry as any of the others. I hope the campaign is as solid as the rest of the games. I won't be reading or watching reviews until after I've played it myself because I dont' want any spoilers at all, but between Campaign co-op, Forgeworld, Firefight 2.0 and the multiplayer I know what I'm going to be doing for the next several months. Except for a few days where I'll be playing Dead Rising 2 that is. :D

Ordered through Amazon, just waiting for it to arrive. I've always enjoyed the Halo games, chances are i'm going to find some entertainment in this one as well.

I know you will call me a loser but I will not partake in this game for a short while, as I am saving up my pay-checks for Fable 3 limited edition! :D

Not sure, I'm tempted to get it but I really didn't like ODST and I've been lukewarm to the multiplayer of halo since 3.
think about what you just typed...
Uhh what? Care to explain?
I like Halo 1 and 2, 3 was ok but I wasn't super fond of the multiplayer and I didn't like ODST. So I'm on the fence in regards to whether or not to give Halo another chance. Like the OP said it supposed to more like ODST than Halo 3. So yea...what do you want me to think about? My stance seems rather reasonable...

Absolutely man! There's a bunch of us from Cork getting it and we'll be online all week hehe! Gonna do the campaign first though... don't want some 12 year old ruining it for me.
I had no idea you were from Cork! That is awesome! I live in England now, but I'm a Cork boy at heart.

Anyway, I'm sure my housemate will get this as soon as he can, so I'll give it a try. Halo is always dependably satisfying, even if I've never really loved it.

Up Cork! Hit us up for a game if you do play it :)

I honestly wish I could, buuuut... I can't legally get a job, due to my age, and my family is low on money, so I have absoloutely no hope of getting it.

Except MAYBE for christmas... I certainly hope so. Forgeworld looks amazing.

Well, the mulitplayer is by far the best one so far IMO. It's so much faster than the others. Only 11 hours till I get my copy! Woop!
