Take a look at the difference between Dead Rising on the 360, and Dead Rising on the Wii. Big difference there, despite the Wii version coming out later.

I feel that if Galaxy and Galaxy 2 were on more powerful consoles, you could have even bigger worlds, and more to do in them. They would be even better than they already are.
i disagree
just because capcom made a shit port, that doesnt represent the wii

if they were made for other consoles they would have been designed differently, but for the designs they're given, they couldnt be done better on other consoles
i see borderlands and obviously it looks better, but red steel still looks fantastic to the point where you dont think "this would look better in hd" and the only thing mroe powerful consoles would lend to it is better loading times which, based on the hd port of no more hereos, is debatable anyway
the game wasnt designed to have more enemies or do better with a further draw distance since the environments are contained on purpose and proper fights as opposed to hack n slash fights

galaxy and galaxy 2 literally wouldnt be better
there's nothing that they wanted to do that they couldnt, miyamoto always wanted small planets and they added in bloody huge ones anyway to add diversity

if you made the planets bigger, it would lose the feel of bouncing between meteorites since the big ones are already massive and are weak in that feeling but are made up for with strong platforming

what im saying is that the game wouldnt benefit from bigger planets, bigger isnt always better, and it wasnt held back in design by being on the wii

and more to do, well there's already 240 stars... but it's time constraints, nothing to do with power

How can you say Red Steel would be the same? Judging by your inability to come up with a better comment than "derp" I'll assume your intelligence is fairly low. Were you to possess a bit more comprehension you would see the many areas in which that game was cut down to fit the Wii. I'm sure the developers could have greatly improved the game with processing power beyond that of a pocket calculator and hardware that actually WORKS. For example, maybe they could have done a little less copypasta enviroments and enemies, and maybe not using the shortcut of cell shaded art.
so you werent trolling and you're actually just ignorant?
i dont really know where to begin so ill direct you to ign, gametrailers and gamespot's game of the year 2007

wasnt 2007 the year cod 4 was released by the way?...

Super Mario galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Okami. I haven't played any other wii games that I enjoyed. Just my opinion, and yes I have played twilight princess and I think it's the worst zelda game.

They're fairly average games all in all. Sure galaxy was alright, but apart from that it's all pretty unexciting for me.

I just bought a Black Wii today. The only reason I got it was essentially for Virtual Console, and a select few Wii games (namely that new Zelda coming out and Metroid: Other M)

Worse than Zelda II? I think not (even though I did enjoy Zelda II, I have to admit it wasn't as good as LoZ and ALttP)

I hate that expression too because it just sounds condescending. It's like someone saying "you look good..for an ugly person" or "you sound smart...for an idiot"

Thing is though(and as much as it pains me to admit it as a Wii owner)the Wii has by far the biggest library of shovelware and crappy ports this gen.So a lot of the time when people use the "good for a wii game " bit they mean in comparison to a lot of the shite that infests the console

It's widly accepted that the graphics pecking order goes something like this...
PC > PS3 >> 360 >>>> Wii
That said, Sin & Punishment 2 really should be brought up every time there's an anti-Wii arguement. "There's no good games!" Sin & Punishment 2. "Motion controls are bad!" Sin & Punishment 2. "The Wii is white!" Sin & Punishment 2.

Okay, but I refuse to accept Zelda 2 as a Zelda game. :L
Seriously, I've enjoyed every other Zelda game apart from Twilight princess and Zelda 2. That is excluding the first Zelda though because I haven't played it..
Links Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages and Link to the Past were all massive parts of my childhood.

You've answered your own question: "[it's] because good Wii games aren't as good as a good Xbox game or a good PS3 game". They're good for what they are and if you want to mess around on the Wii the Red Steel may be good for that, but if you want a great experiance go look on another console. It's good for what it is, it's still not great though.
when galaxy 2 wins every game of the year award, will this argument still apply?
IF Galaxy 2 wins every single game of the year award, I will come back to this threat and edit out my post. Then eat my hat.
we are talking about the same galaxy 2 which already the joint second highest game on the entire of metacritics with only a percentage behind ocarina of time arent we?
and the same galaxy 2 which is the sequel to galaxy 1 which won game of the year from gamespot, ign and gametrailers ahead of cod4 and where the sequel is supposedly better according to them as well right?

and you dont think it will win pretty much every game of the year award? really?
Game of the Year arguments don't hold any water because even IF the game wins ALL of the game of the year awards out there, there will STILL be another 30 games of the year that year. The Wii is a great system for nostalgia and casual gamers, but it can't actually play most of the games that come out on the other systems. Add in that Nintendo still seems to think that video games are for children and only for children and you get a large number of games that are made poorly because children don't have high standards or expectations. The Wii's extremely high percentage of shovelware really doesn't help the system at all. When 200 games a year come out for a system and 190 of them are things like "cooking mama" and "trauma clinic" (games that even as little as 5 years ago would never have sold) you kind of get the impression that the system doesn't have ANY good games.

Because the bar on Wii is set lower. There is so much crap on the Wii that the average Wii game is a subpar 360 or PS3 game.

I have not found a good reason to use my Wii console for the last 8 months. Maybe galaxy 2 will change this.

It's literally not as powerful as the other consoles, so that leads one to believe that a good game on the Wii would be even better if not for that "Wii" part. And motion controls are a gimmick, Nintendo just keeps on milking their "big three" franchises, 90% of the games on the Wii are geared towards the family of a gamer instead of a gamer, etc, etc. I just don't like the Wii, but I don't hold it against anyone for liking it. From what I gather, this Mario Galaxy game is good. If it weren't a "Mario" game I'd consider checking it out.

EDIT- and friend codes are just a horrible idea.

Don't like the Wii motion control so the best a Wii game can hope for is "For a Wii Game it's fine"

Zelda 2 was great.

Sure, when you consider its actual gameplay, it was terrible but it had a charm that made me want to keep playing it. Something different, a change of pace. Leveling as link delighted me in ways that no Zelda game has been able to reproduce. There was something about Twilight Princess, though, that I didn't like. It felt like it was missing something.

OP: Wii games serve a different audience than most you'll probably find here. Oh, it's true that there will be some overlapping(I enjoy the Wii) but a lot of folk will condescend to most of its games due to controls(Which can be abysmal) or content. People also complain about graphics. That argument, though, has never really held water with me. Graphics are only really "needed" in the survival horror genre, where they make or break immersion. Otherwise, they're really a background feature, for me.

If you enjoy the Wii, enjoy it.

I don't know if anyone realizes this but, hey, guess what the Wii REALLY is...

YES! that's right! With gimmicky controls, an optical drive, and a little more RAM. And I say this with the utmost truth in that I am, in fact, a Wii owner. Can you guess what Wii games I regularly play and enjoy on it?

YES! NONE OF THEM! Except for Super Smash Bros. Brawl when my friends are in town, I never play any of the Wii games I own! They all have the same story attached to them: "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Then I get them home, give it a shot, get tired of flailing my arms around, and go back to doing something else.

I own Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii as I am a big big Zelda fan but I DO NOT play it. Because I... DO NOT... want to WAGGLE MY FUCKING CONTROLLER AROUND IN A ZELDA GAME!

So I looked for and bought a Gamecube copy of it and I couldn't be happier. At I wouldn't have even had to do that if it only had GC/Classic Controller support built-in.

They say the next Zelda game will be based on the MotionPlus attachment. Bugger me, now I actually have to give a shit or not play it! It probably won't amount to near as much as the feeling one gets for conquering Zelda II on the NES, the only Zelda game ever made with a difficulty so hard that the box must have a label reading "You must be this Asian to play this game."

Speaking of Motion Plus, it is nice but it's a serious battery hog. I use a rechargeable battery pack but it's still inconvenient... and even then, I only have Wii Sports Resort to use it with since it came with the bloody thing! That was fun for a while but at some point, it all becomes a moot point when you realize that there's no real feedback for all your flailing around. There's no reaction to the action that physically affects you, it's just arbitrary swatting-at-flies motions.

Maybe Nintendo can use your ill-gotten soccer mom money they made on the Wii and invest some actual development in the system hardware of their next tiny wonder box.

If Red Steel was released on Move it'd be just as shitty. Motion controls are all the same, none of them work right, I can't be bothered wasting about $300 NZ to buy something I probably won't even use.
