... Really?

I mean...

Did you really just say that?

Are you a troll?

Oh that's good. You're such a kidder. Fox News? Slightly biased? Hahah... Wow. <_<
Yup, I am a troll. If by troll you mean a poster who actually knows what the hell they are talking about. Please go back to your mom's basement, I think the laundry is ready to be folded.
Yes, he is a troll, Tears. Specifically, a hybrid troll with elements of Hit-and-Run Poster and Concern Troll. Report and move on.
It is a wonder that people like you make it through the day. Nothing, not a single word, that I have posted is based in anything but fact, either from the piece on fox,or by the imbeciles like you who posted on these forums or th dumbass who wrote the article in the first place. Nothing. Anyone with half a brain can read through the posts watch the video, play the game and read the article and come to the same conclusion. The game is rated 17+, you do get to play as a terrorist. The violence is extremely realistic in its depiction, and all FOX did was question whether this was going to far.

Whether or not you people have your heads to far up your asses to see this or are just too stupid to realize your mistake is irrelevant. The facts of this article, the interview and my posts speak for themselves and I quite frankly could give a crap whether or not the Escapist or a dumbass like you realizes that.

If you had posted anything that even remotely addressed the argument at hand, had presented even the slightest counter point, I would be more than willing to discuss, which if you had bothered to read any of my posts, I actually tried to do several times. Instead, you decide to chime in on something you obviously have NO information about and you suddenly become a voice of reason, while I am a troll. Please.

The original point remains valid, and I am still waiting for a discussion about whether or not a game like this goes to far. Having played it as well as a host of other realistic shooters, I have to say that it is a little disturbing to me, and the point as to whether or not it is for children is extremely valid. I say that unless it is presented in context by parents who is going to change that.
I'm sorry, I stopped listening right around the time you called the writer of the article a 'dumbass' just because he doesn't share your point of view. Ad hominems being thrown...recent join date...flurry of personal insults...if it quacks like a duck...

Also, at least four people in this thread think that you're trolling. I'm not alone in thinking that by any stretch of the imagination. Make of that what you will.

Wow. Could they /possibly/ have gotten a more incoherent and retarded advocate for the gamer's perspective?! Now people don?t just think we love violence, but we?re also brain-damaged morons that can?t string a sentence together.

You now understand what Fox does best.

The majority of it's programming is punditry and opinion under the guise of journalism.

I'm sorry of others reading disagree, but it's true (and is true about several other news organizations both left and right). Hence why I get most my news from papers and, of course, the BBC.

I just pity Jim Steyer's teenager. Living with that guy as a father must be terrible.

And the comment about 8 year-olds becoming terrorists is just innane and proves that they don't actually have a legitimate argument.

Dear lord I'm glad we don't have any networks like Fox in Canada. Between their hyper-Conservative news programs and their hyper-Liberal whoring out of Seth MacFarlane, they're almost as extremist as the Taliban(but obviously not as violent, unless we count O'Reily)!

Wow, they didn't even pretend at the end, did they. For anyone reading this, I'd like to point out that this entire thing has been done for every medium, ranging from books to TV and more. There's nothing here that you can definitively say causes violence. Did you say tag causes violence because a fight breaks out over "I got you! No you didn't!"? No.

I'd also like to think that this segment was actually the point in gaming that was meant to be a lesson. Do we mindlessly follow orders because we are told it is right by the game, or do we actually think about the actions for ourselves. Are we just going to go along with whatever a game tells us too even if we're uncomfortable? We've been desensitized here. Maybe this game was meant to be a wakeup call.

As for studies, I've seen some of the worst results ever from them. I'm pretty sure at one point that studies proved lobotomies to be a good method for curing people. Did that make it right? No.

As for the news media and their bull here, I'd like to form a purposal here for everyone on the Escapist. Let's have ourselves a bit of fun at the media's expense for once. From now on, every time you hear about an act of violence, blame it on all the bad news the media feeds you everyday. Seriously. I'd like to see how they try to defend themselves when faced with studies by people who are biased as hell.
After all, we all turn to the news to discover how bad the world is economically, politically, and socially, right? Is that driving us to desperation or to violence? Who knows. I personally think it's more likely than videogames (look at what they were running beneath the story if you need a point proven).

This was not a fair debate, 2 against one telling him "kids are going to grow up as terrorists", THE BEGINNING OF THEW GAME IT TELLS YOU IF YOU WANT TO SKIP VIOLENT SCENES/LEVELS SUCH AS THIS...the two old guys just ganged up on the blogger gamer, sure they let him speak but they totally dis credited what he said...P.S. I bet those old guys have MW2 and play it all the time. haha

I know seriously that would never happen, 8 year olds becoming terrorists? at least 16 year olds would become terrorists haha...jk
If anything this game is entertaining and I'll leave it at that.

This is why I hate that idiots like these (the reporters not the gamer) report news, all they did towards the end is make retarded statements and outspoke the other side, fair and balanced debate my ass.

One, why does fox 'news' still exist? Two, why can't we ever get someone who can actually defend the games on tv? Three, why does the dumb fuck bashing the game say twice 'there is no question that video game violence relates to real life violence in kids'. I mean I question that outright.

Every time Fox says "Fair and Balanced", they really just mean "Right-Wing". However, while I haven't played MW2, I do find the premise of playing as a terrorist tasteless.

Where I live, FOX News is concidered to be an extreme rightwing Republican show, so only Republicans take anything they report as credible & fair. I prefur BBC World News myself.

My point of view? The author [of the article] is a dumbass because just like the rest of you imbeciles

[snipped stream of 'you're wrong because you're wrong' ad hominems]

As for me being a troll, that might offend me if I actually had any respect for you or your seriously flawed point of view.
But clearly, I'm the troll here. And the four other people who agreed with me are all wrong. All hail Fox News!

Grow up, your little Internet Tough Guy [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InternetToughGuy] shenanigans aren't impressing anyone.

You are aware that I actually do think you are a moron, based solely on your complete inability to comprehend the point of the FOX broadcast, and my subsequent commentary into the foolishness of bashing something just because that's what everyone else is doing.

While you have yet to raise even ONE valid point in the baseless attacks on FOX for this piece, I have been able to clearly outline, why the game is not for children, why parents should be aware of its content, and why FOX was correct in bringing it to light. I also derided FOX for their mis-informed linkage of video games to violence, as there is no hard data on the subject. That said, I also pointed out how ridiculous it was to say that violence in movies and video games( when exposed to already troubled children, especially those whose parents aren't paying enough attention to what they are doing) has NO impact on a child's behavior. I rebuffed the idea that FOX "isn't news" by pointing out the glaring similarities in the programming schedules of all of the major news networks. I back up my assertion of the games violence with my own personal experiences as an owner/gamer. And I pointed out the hypocritical nature of an entertainer like John Stewart, who bashes news stations for presenting fluff pieces while taking no responsibility for the fact that most of the idiots in his audience look no further than his show for their news.

You on the other hand called me a troll and joined the ranks of the "can't walk and chew gum at the same time" who's biggest contribution to this thread was to regurgitate the idea that FOX, by nature of having a contrary point of view to that of the other ridiculously biased media is some how worse, just because you don't happen to agree with their talk show hosts.

So please believe me when I say that I am in no way posturing for the internet and I would have no issue calling you a complete, straight down to the core, can barely tie your own shoes, moron, right to your face, over and over and over again.

Oh and you're wrong because, being right actually requires you to make a point and present some facts, neither of which have you come close to doing.

- FOX presented a piece about MW2.
- They asked the question if the game went to far.
- They suggested that letting children play the game where you can participate in a massacre might be bad.
- The placed almost ALL of the onus on the parent.
- The did not attack the game makers directly.

Those are facts. Argue with that.

Big surprise that Biased Journalist [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN823dUu6KA&fmt=18] tries to fire flak at anything they can try and hit.
