i don't watch FOX news after I watched one of their male news anchors hit on one of their female anchors and even though she rebuffed him, he wouldn't let up. I wanted to see the news. If I wanted to see guys fail at picking up women, I would head over to my local bars and clubs.
Have you seen how hot some of their female news anchors are? I agree with your sentiment, but you can't really blame him.

Spoken like a true moron.

I don't watch fox (mainly because I'm British), but it seems extremely unfair that they didn't even bother getting an actual gamer to debate. It was all horribly one sided.
Why do you think they call it "Fair and Balanced"? Its like when someone starts a statement off with "Honestly..." there's a 98% chance they're lying.

I'm willing to bet money on the whole terrorist scene being a clever publicity stunt.

"Did someone register to this site that actually thinks Fox News IS a reliable source of SLIGHT bias? Welcome to the escapist dude. You're in for a learning experience about Fox news."

I seriously doubt there is anything to be learned from the people on this site about anything of importance. Regardless of a persons social and political views, no rational human being who has actually watched and compared the major news outlets could in good conscience say that FOX news is more biased than their liberal slanted counterparts.

They are the highest rated and most trusted news outlet, so regardless of the baseless rantings on these boards they must be doing something right.
Honestly, dude, the media is not reliable at all anymore, News isn't even news anymore, it's a blob of opinions being thrown around, not well based facts. Even saying that Fox News is the most trusted news show isn't saying much. That's like saying that Great Expectations is the least boring of all boring books. While I for one refuse to believe that is the case, my point is that it is still boring to a ridiculous degree, just as Fox News is unreliable, mainstream American media.

Was anyone surprised?

I mean everyone knew that scene would attract some controversy, it was only a matter of time.

I'm surprised Jack Thompson hasn't showed up yet... maybe his head exploded.
Now now, don't go getting anyone's hopes up.

On Topic
This is not unexpected. In all honesty I don't know why the gaming community hasn't collectively figured out by now that we would be better off not trying to associate ourselves with a group of people whose only goal in life is to make us and everyone like us look bad for the sake of ratings.

It is my unofficial decree that anyone who represents the gaming community on fox news from now on is a communist sent by those damn foreigners in an attempt to destabilize our "free economy"

The tag from Fox before the commercial was, "Modern Warfare 2, a game that lets you play as a terrorist. Is the game going too far? We're going to have a fair and balanced debate to find out."
Fox news, and Fair and balanced? What silliness is this - Fox news, you liars.

Talk about blatant propaganda.

That wasn't a 'debate', let alone a fair and balanced one.
As a Brit, I don't watch Fox but it sounds like all the things I've heard about it are true (at least, from this little slice of it).

I can blame him for trying while on air. I don't care what he does off air.

"Honestly, dude, the media is not reliable at all anymore, News isn't even news anymore, it's a blob of opinions being thrown around, not well based facts. Even saying that Fox News is the most trusted news show isn't saying much. "

I wasn't speaking to the credibility of FOX news but rather to the validity of their segment regarding Modern Warfare 2. When I say they are the highest rated/most trusted, that is not a matter of opinion(I personally try to get news from as many places as possible), it is a matter of fact as denoted by their market share and ratings as compared to the other major sources.

Almost every post decrying FOX news fails to address the point of the segment in question: Has Modern Warfare 2 gone too far in its depiction of realistic violence?

IMO that is a valid question as both an adult and a gamer. I personally think the experience created by MW2 is awesome, disturbing, exhilarating and any of a number of other adjectives, but the violence is not for children, and bringing that aspect of the game to light is not a bad thing. Now if people want to debate how the piece was presented, that is one thing, but the general asinine, "FOX is bad because I heard it on the Office, or from John Stewart", attitude of people who clearly don't pay attention to any real news let alone fox is just ridiculous.

Hey, where is my "thanks j0z for the tip"? I had a thread on this very website 5minutes after it aired!

I have quit watching Fox after that, and all other news stations. I will get read the news posted on this site (whether offical or just a thread) and that's all I need to know.
And I never heard of /gamer, why didn't they get someone from a big, well-known site? I sense they wanted someone that couldn't handle the pressure.
And, why the hell didn't he talk about the points where you can skip it?

Again, that's why I agree with your sentiment, especially as someone who used to work in the television industry.

Just out of curiosity, what was he saying?

I don't think you mean "verbose," I think the word you're looking for is articulate.

That said, I'd expect them to try to find the dumbest and least well-spoken individual as possible to represent an interest that they're likely going to present a bias against. After all, look at Colmes.

That's the thing. I don't pay attention to other guys. I just care about the fact that news is all opinion now. When I want news, I want facts. I don't give a fuck what this guys thinks about the topic. Nor do I care about the deliberate appeal of the media to America's blatant disregard for what is truly morally wrong and what isn't. People get up in arms about some things that aren't important. Sure, the game might be too graphic for kids, but it isn't an evil game. However, it isn't too graphic for some kids younger than what is thought appropriate. The game should not be made bad just because parents are negligent sometimes, and it isn't video games that make people violent. The real risk in games like this is the "realistic" depiction of warfare which is most likely disturbing for children.

Well just goes to show of another example of Fox "fairly" debating something without proper representation of both sides at all really.

And to the guy bashing Jon Stewart please tell me you don't think O'reilly is a legit source of anything except propoganda please.
