Oh FOX news....

They forgot to blame Obama for the games contents though, I'm sure it was his idea in the first place because he's such a Communist.... just like Hitler.

This is just what Fox does. It's their MO. Though I do have this to say... Screw you Fox! Research what you are about to do a story on before you talk about it!

What did you expect from Fox News??
This is the station that thinks that 20-30k people looks quite a lot like "millions" of people- if you remember the 9/12 bullshit rally they did

there´s no doubt that there´s a link between fox news and brain cancer. it is evident because i said so and i know it. to explain it to you would be way to complex, even for me, as my genius is sometimes even ahead of my own thoughts. i suggest we leave it at that, all agreeing on that cancer thing. now thank you and good night.

I agree, it is a very complex issue. I feel they(IW) did an excellent job of portraying just how graphic and nerve wracking a terrorist attack can be. I feel that Jon Christensen should have been more prepared to defended his position. While the other guy(not the host) was just spewing BS.

I play violent video games and I'm not a violent person...it's entertainment...nothing more.

I also watch Fox News...for the laugh.

They [FOX News] are the highest rated and most trusted news outlet, so regardless of the baseless rantings on these boards they must be doing something right.
Fox News's general strategy when it comes to 'reporting' news is to constantly fire off baseless accusations and insults towards whatever President is currently in office that isn't a biased, diehard Republican like them, up to and including publicly supporting the kind of people who insist Obama was born in Africa and therefore cannot be President.

The only people that implicitly 'trust' them are the kind of people that think Ann Coulter is the messiah as opposed to the Antichrist. And the worst part is that they have the gall to declare themselves unbiased.

i don't watch FOX news after I watched one of their male news anchors hit on one of their female anchors and even though she rebuffed him, he wouldn't let up. I wanted to see the news. If I wanted to see guys fail at picking up women, I would head over to my local bars and clubs.
Have you seen how hot some of their female news anchors are? I agree with your sentiment, but you can't really blame him.
I can blame him for trying while on air. I don't care what he does off air.
Again, that's why I agree with your sentiment, especially as someone who used to work in the television industry.

Just out of curiosity, what was he saying?
I just remember being put off by it and then switching to another news station.I'm sorry, I don't remember the words.

I gotta wonder how FOX still gets away with being such blantent liars.
Even with free speech, you do need to sa the truth on air.

"Appealing to the lowest common denominator does not instantly equate to truth."

They don't appeal to liberals so I don't see how they are going after the lowest common denominator. The clueless nature of liberals in America is astounding. A group of people who in general have no idea as to what they are actually fighting for.

Do you have trouble walking and chewing gum? Seriously I worry about people like you who are so ridiculously clueless. Have you played Modern Warfare 2? What exactly did FOX say that wasn't true? Moron.

That level makes MW2 better than CoD4 on its own. It was just very powerful. While I was doing it I still felt like a dick despite not knowing those people. That being said World at War was still better than MW2 and every other CoD game is better than both modern warfares and world at war.

I agree with this post (and by extention Apocs post that was quoted there). The article was rather biased while the segment did not appear to be so.

Now to make a few points. I think Fox News is a terrible news station. The reason is that, as has been recently clarified (and broadly shouted out by John Steward) the vaste majority of their broadcasting is in fact now news. When this is the case you can't really call yourself a news network anymore. There is a kinda saying that goes something like "5 million people can't all be wrong." That is not really true. There are deep philosophical reasons for this but they are not really important here. What is important is that just because a thing is the most popular does not make it right, correct or even truthful. In the case of Fox News I believe it is just entertaining.

Now theApoc I am sure you can feel that most of this rant so far is aimed at you so I am not going to beat around the bush any longer. Fox News viewers has been shown to be the worst informed viewers of all. Incidental the person you called a "hack", John Steward and his counterpart Colbert had the most well informed viewers but this does not really mean that either The Daily Show or The Colbert Report (I am sure there is some joke there why they don't pronounce the "t" but I have not been a diligent enough viewer to find out) are any kind of news show but it is interesting. The fact that viewers of Fox News are the least informed is indeed very important as this shows that either Fox applies importance to the wrong things giving a skewed picture of current events, they outright lie or their viewers are stupid (or are otherwise unable to see the truth). Now I am inclined to believe the first option.

Now for a source of all this (I only need one... this isn't science): http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/16/daily-show-fox-knowledge/

Also I suggest reading this: http://people-press.org/report/559/
It has no bearing on the discussion (besides agreeing that all news outlets are biased) but it is very interesting. I think so at least.

Now after that tirade it might be novel to get back on subject.

Whether or not MW2 crosses the line with a level where you are a terrorist and slaughter innocents is an excellent question. It is worth mentioning that the question of whether or not children should be allowed to get their hands on the game (not before I am finish with it thats for sure) is not really in question. For some reason they throw it in there and the debate gets completely useless as a result.

Now are they going too far? My personal opinion is no. Personally I applaud Infinity Ward for making it. Such a level will nearly force the player to start thinking. They question what terrorism is and the motives of the terrorist and the "heroes" as well. And this has always been the true meaning of art. To provoke us into wondering and contemplating. The debate on whether the game went too far raises the same questions so such debates are a good idea. Just for gods sake leave the children to the parents to figure out.
http://www.foxnews.com/fnctv/
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3096434/

All of the major news channels have roughly the same programming. News mixed in with Op-Ed programming. So to say that FOX isn't really a news channel is absurd. Especially coming from a hack like John Stewart who makes a living misrepresenting the facts and using baseless statistics(the study you mentioned interviewed a whopping 1500 people. Not to mention the fact that correlation does not equal causation) taken completely out of context. Also saying that TV personalities like Hannity and O'Reilly represent the news aspects of FOX is like saying Campbell Brown and Larry King represent the news aspects of CNN. Apples and Oranges.

I do in fact listen to CNN and Fox News, I read MSNBC pretty much every day and I challenge anyone to do the same, then tell me who is and isn't reporting the facts? Are all media outlets biased? Of course, but anyone who actually watches/reads information from all three would be hard pressed to call FOX the worse of the bunch.

They had a story about Modern Warfare 2. And both The Escapist and the general dumbasses that post without reading(not referring to you), went on a rant about something they clearly have NO factual information about, FOX news. They ignored the content of the piece and went on a bunch of half assed rants with no basis in reality.

Huh, the game's been out for over 36 hours. I'm amazed it took them this long, frankly!

When even gamers are bitching that a level's gone too far, you just know Fox is gonna jump onto it.

I'm amazed that more Americans haven't jumped on the last few missions, after Shepherd betrays Price and Soap and the missions basically become "There are terrorists and American troops, kill 'em all. And get to the checkpoint."
Yeah. That leads me to believe their reacting to the story not the game, not particularly surprising but whatever.

Have to say, best way to kill a boss ever.

Really? You guys are getting pissed off at FOX because the guy they got from Slashgamer wasn't smart enough to make his point? And regardless of the context, the game still does allow you to see that section from the point of view of the terrorists, which was the point of the piece: Is that appropriate for children? And guess what, regardless of how you feel about FOX the answer is NO. The games rating board decided that NOT FOX.

All the guy had to do was be honest and say it is not meant for kids, which he did. When he tried to justify the section of the game he dug his own hole.
