HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh Fox... You're the news equivalent of Charlie Sheen. People only pay attention to what you say because YOU SO DAMN CRAZY.

On a side note, the developers of DNF would like to thank Fox for
1) Only just giving a fuck after 13 years of developmen
2) The free publicity of Fox news giving a fuck
3) Making sure everyone that matters gets the joke

They missed the focal point of the story here. Chinese Democracy Forever has been delayed again...

The game will be available in stores and online, where customers must click a button stating they are 17 years of age or older -- the only barrier to children buying such a game.
Well that's stupid, even for Fox news.
They kinda need a Credit/Debit caard ya know?
That or an innattentive parent.
Though iof they were stealing daddy's cards it may be a wee bit too late to "protct their innocense".

Also, the slapping wasn't a joke?
Awesome, it's about time we really pushed the boundries of taste in games.

It also stereotypes men as always objectifying women, maybe if I was a whiny ***** like Fox News I'd give a crap about that too.

...I'm a bit surprised how "actually not that overblown" that FOX news article on it was.

Though they did kind of miss the point that Duke Nukem is supposed to be a preposterous macho stereotype, not really a role model.

And aren't conservatives the one's who love the gender roles of the 1950's anyway?

this feature is some crime against humanity, its trying to stay true to the spirit of Duke Nukem, fox is just, once again desperatly scrambling to get attention. A message to everyone reading this, ignore this, fox is just deperatly trying to get attention, remember the numbing stupidity of the mass effect controversy

I believe Penny Arcade said it best with this comic. Sorry its in link form, I have no idea how to embed stuff from their site.

Embed it like this:

I was just going to find that!
But yeah, sexism worse than murder?
'kay.
That way of thinking always annoys me. "Oh no, I offened the way you think! I tell you what, ill blow your brains out, will that make you feel better?"

And fox news is at it again *sigh*
They were explaining why womens rights groups found the game offensive.
seemed like a regular news article to me.

I'm a butthurt feminist gamer and even I'm not offended by Duke Nukem. It's intentionally stupid, a self-parodying piece of moronic fun, and anyone who takes it messages to heart probably has their own issues to work out.

That said, I probably won't be playing Duke Nukem... it's not really for me.

I sense the DNF guys recently read about Valve cancelling their marketing spend, and figured they'd do the same.

Close up of desk : a board meeting.

'But guys, DNF has been so long coming, some people have given up on it ever being release, how can we let people know if we don't advertise?

'Watch this...'

*Opens email client*

"Dear Fox news, as a responsible republican parent of young children, I was horrified to be shown some leaked video of some 'video game' that is both horribly violent and degrades women, I hope you can devote some prime time slot to it to protect the children!"

'If that doesn't work, I'll just try honesty and go with "Dear Fox, we can't afford an ad budget, so here's a copy of the game, go wild on us!"

Also, from that Fox link:

"Following the what-were-they-thinking response shared across the gaming community, Gearbox announced Thursday yet another delay to the overdue game's release."

'what were they thinking'? Who in the gaming community is shocked?

It's always the sex in things that's especially horrible for kids. Opponents of video games always drum up and get peeved about violence in video games- but it turns into a total clusterfuck of 'think-of-the-children' pandemonium when there's a hint of sex involved... interesting priorities, there...

I can understand both concerns, to be honest, but I'm not gonna let the twats at Fox News try to inform me on sexploitation and sexism in general. Nearly impossible to digest that much blatant hypocrisy and bullshit

*Shrugs* Looks like people are still people.

Girl? Check. Gamer? check. Stripper? Check. Ever given her man a 'mouth hug' while he was playing a video game? Double-check. Seems like I'm the focus group of this mode they're so honked-off about, but I don't feel too offended... *pokes herself* Nope.
