grand theft auto?

you are mad, this is a game that needs loads of sequels. I cannot wait for GTA 4.
On the contrary, the gameplay is stale and it's not as if the stories are all that. And I miss the more arcade style of the originals on the PSX. They always gave this great sense of urgency. Those ones had better music also.

The Sims.

The Sims 2 was better than the original, but it began to lose the magic. Quite literally, considering they never released a Makin' Magic expansion for The Sims 2.

James Bond games.
And I the only one who finds it perplexing that the game makers can't outdo a 1997 release for the N64?

I dunno, Everything or Nothing was pretty good...and knocking a shooter for not outdoing Goldeneye is like knocking a JRPG for not outdoing FFVII.

Whoa, you mean I'm NOT the only person on the face of the earth who thought Majora's Mask was brilliant?
best game ever

(and because it was so unique, it'll probably stay that for.. ever)

First of all, all license games in the world: Nobody wants them, nobody likes them (Except li'l kids),they are BAD!
Goldeneye. Licensed games aren't inherently bad, it's just that EA can't be arsed to make a real game.

I like how people say that they wish the FF series should be put to bed, but they should keep making new RPGs under different titles. Especially when, if SquareEnix tried to pull a stunt like that, everyone would get all pissy about how they just keep bringing out FF clones. Besides, videogame series that last well into their fourteenth iteration is virtually part of Japan's heritage. It's a little unrealistic to expect a Japanese company not to get as much as they can out of their franchises.

What's with all the Mario hate? Sure, if you don't enjoy the games, then I can see how it'd get on your nerves. But quite a few people think that Galaxy is one of the most fun games that has been made over the last few years, so you can't say that it's completely devoid of merit. If a game has a good enough basic formula to withstand the test of time, then I'm quite happy to buy a game that is basically identical to the first, just with a new set of levels. I only take issue with a dead franchise being repeatedly given a shiny new coat of graphics and churned out for the seventeenth time, if the games just aren't fun anymore. If they still manage to make you happy, then what's the problem?

Although, I have to say, I haven't really felt the Zelda magic in a while. It's not that TP wasn't fun, it just didn't make me feel as good as ALttP did.

The Legacy of Kain series, although I have to say that has already been put to death. But sersiously, the first games were great, fun, engaging, and pretty deep for a Gothy Vampire themed adventure. Blood Omen and Blood Omen 2 were fantastic, so was the first Soul Reaver, but Legacy of Kain: Defiance made me puke up a lung. I loved Kain and Raziel being controlled in the same game, but it sucked ROYALLY. The Gameplay was all a mimic of the first two games, the story-line was pretty much Linear, the levels were needlessly complicated and the puzzles took to long, plus they were all basically the same, I feel that it was the right decision to take the old girl behind the shed and shoot her, before Legacy of Kain could further defile the once great games.
It's still a great universe, with much potential, but I'm afraid they were, for a change, too concerned about telling a good enough story, and eventually milking it, than making an efficient gameplay.
A shame, considering the resources they had.
I'm still waiting to see how the Hylden cursed the Ancients and turned them into Vampires.
They couldn't pull that out of a hat all of the sudden.

Alpha001, I'm personally hoping that the next Splinter Cell is the defibrillator shock the series needs. The idea of a game that simulates a movie like The Fugitive is tremendously exciting to me, even if it's a clean break from the ideas of the older games in the series.

All right, I don't mind being the first to say this (if I somehow looked over one's previous comments on this, then sorry) and I don't care if everyone hates me for it, but I feel that the Resident Evil franchise needs to die. And not slowly, before they even come out with 5. Why say such a nasty thing? Look at the direction it's going. Oh sure Resident Evil 4 was playable to anyone and everyone who hates adventure games and/or being scared while playing a game, but Resident Evil 4 is what it took to make a Resident Evil game stop being adventurous and scary (and somewhat serious for that matter).

Just compare Resident Evil 4 to previous Resident Evil games and you'll see that all they did was take everything that made Code Veronica goofy and applied it to a game that resembled the corny aesthetics of Resident Evil Dead Aim. When a developer makes a loudly announced sequel that attempts to re-invent and write over everything that had been pre-established before it by taking the concepts and inner workings of a spin-off game then that's good enough evidence to state that the developers need to be locked up (or transferred to another game development team to be realistic) before they can cause anymore damage.

Of course to balance this, I feel the same way about the Silent Hill series. I still think that companies like Konami can make other horror-adventure games without tying them to franchises for the sake of doubling up on the cash and had they done that with the dully named The Room then maybe now we wouldn't have western developers trying their turns at the series and maybe then my faith in Team Silent would've still been stable for them to make a Silent Hill game that tried something different, but still retaining the important aspects of the previous games rather than dismissing them and hoping that hairy, anti-charismatic card-board cut-outs mumbling their lines to the camera and fighting Ju-On rip-offs would make up for it.

I will agree as well that the Medal of Honor series should go, mainly because ever since the series' life on the PS2/X-Box they've been practically the same game with slightly different gimmicks with a different US soldier doing the same thing. The only time the Medal of Honor games ever approached the WWII setting from a different perspective was in Underground which is just about the only game in the series where you don't play as a US citizen. Had they stuck with an approach like that, then maybe the series would feel a little more welcome for gamers looking for different perspectives facing the same matter and avoided the whole patriotism BS.

And before I conclude, I have to say that I'd appreciate Tecmo a lot more if they axed the Dead or Alive series. As much as I like supermodels bouncing around and stretching in bathing suits, the whole Dead or Alive franchise itself has become nothing but that with all the kung-fu fighting, evil corporation, over-powered goofy ninja shinannigans continue feeling shallow and detestable.

Sonic the Hedgehog. Seriously, Sonic, do us all a favor and go run into a brick wall or something. Whatever you do, be sure that it's fatal.

I think WoW was a Cheap way to Milk the Warcraft Franchise instead of Tieing it up

I would have loved a set conclusion to Arthas, Illidan and all my other favorite war craft Character, Instead we get an MMO which basically means they can milk Azaroth for all its Worth

I feel if my friend who has WoW Kills Illidan in a Raid, It's as bad as Dying Of Screen, he didn't even get a Grom Hellscream Self Sacrificial Redemption Death

maybe I'm the Only one who doesn't hate the game, but hates what it cuts off, a True Finish to Warcraft, a Real Conclusion to Azaroths tales of Woe, Instead it cuts it right when its truly at its climax and gives us the MMO
Funny, because Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne does tie up the series, including the characters you mentioned. And ending on an MMORPG is a good way to conclude a franchise, as it means that it will last forever, rather than abruptly ending and being lost to memory.

I loved Majora's Mask, in fact I didn't know so many people hated until I was in a forum about a year ago and I listed it as one of my favorite games.
Funny I had the opposite. I knew many people didn't like MM (compared to OoT), but on forum polls MM was more popular (prolly the kind of people on those forums)

Millions of People cant be Wrong: Reality TV DOESN'T Suck!
Ok so I should have said several million gamers (who I personally hold in a much higher esteem than the general populace) can't be wrong.
Are you all twitchy fps fanboys or something that are pissed about loosing your clan mates to 'the plague'? Why not say what you really mean, that you think MMO's suck rather than blaming it one in particular?

It's the most popular of the bunch for a reason, it's well put together (ok so none of it was hugely original but it took all the best bits from the rest and put them together with such a high level of scope and polish that even now over 3 years later it's still top of the pile), it has a great sense of humour and a control system that like all the best classic board games (go, chess etc) is very easy to pick up yet very hard to master.

Personally I don't often play anymore, I started at the beginning and maxed it out just before Naxx was released, having full tier 2 at that time. Then I did not play again until about a year later when it was well into BC.
Now I only pick it up again on rare occasions just to catch up with my guildmates and see how they are getting along, I don't hold it against Blizzard at all for continually updating the content and the fact that all my hard earned gear became out of date, quite the opposite in fact I applaud them for it for continually pushing it onwards and giving the hardcore players more in depth and difficult encounters to conquer, it's much more than most companies behind MMO's do.

When I quit before Naxx wow was taking over my life and it took some time to re-build and catch up with all the real life friends I had excluded but I don?t hate it for it, it was a problem with me and not the game.

Now apart from actually living in ?rl? I?ve actually been playing alot of other games, I?m really into COD4, The orange box (EP2, Portal, TF, it?s all fried gold!), Uncharted, Stranglehold, Psyconaughts, Wario, RE umbrella chronicles, Brain training, Amplitude, Oblivion, etc but when the next expansion for wow comes out I?ll session it hard to 80 with the guildies for a few months, then I?ll put it down again and go back to playing other games, WOW itself is not the problem is just that too many people get hooked on it and let it take over their lives to the exclusion of everything else.

However no matter what I say is not going to stop people slating it but I know that most of those who do are not people who play MMO's anyway, so why do they feel the need to throw their 2 cents in?
