You really cant know if those were made original to get the eye of some company, they failed, and thus they released it on newground because why let effort go to waste.

Is this a moddable engine? I know Dragon Age 2 was kind of light on the mods which was kind of a bummer.

Frostbite 2 isn't an FPS engine. It was made for Battlefield 3, yeah, but what Bioware will be using from it has nothing to do with gameplay.

Boy you have no idea.

My mate who is doing support for SWTOR is saying that 90% of the actual technical issues they have with that game is because of the Hero engine.

At one point during development they had the original creators of the engine in as consultation, but at that point they had to modify it so much that they couldn't recognize.

As my friend said "If they paid anything for licencing that, then they got ripped off".

Well at least I know that If ESO sucks, which it probably will, it wont be because of the hero engine.

Well it may get prettier, but that was never a problem with DA(except on consoles).
Also a new engine means your team needs to redo the mechanics/assets and they might not come out the same, plus the time they spend on migration is time away from production... the benefits are purely cosmetic, downsides however go across the board.

But hey I don't expect them to get anywhere near Baldur's Gate or even Origins for that matter, the main guy on DA left saying the company is FUBAR after all.

Unreal 3 engine had good games and bad games, it had well polished games and buggy games. the engine doesnt determine its quality at all

really what theyve done with this is going "hey look at this engine that we made a pretty game with, now its in this game" hoping people will assume that because the engine had a good game this one will be good aswell
