"Have no fear I'm sure you'll love it," Curtis replied. Gripping Catherine's hand, he led her though the crowds, and back onto the street. As the pair moved though the thinning crowds a new but familiar scent got his attention, the smell of a vampire on the hunt. Leaning in close, he whispered in her ear. "Did you know that vampires give off a distinctive smell when they're hunting? Inside with all the humans it was masked, but out here...plain as day."
Increasing the pressure he felt one of the knuckles of her hand dislocate with a slight 'pop'. "I have to give you credit, you did have me all kinds of stirred up. If I was a more impulsive man, I'm sure I'd have been dead by now." Stepping around a corner, he turned her towards him, without letting go. "Now I'll give you a fair choice here." He said his eyes now a deep amber colour. "When I let you go, if you run, I will not pursue you and you can return home safely. But if you attack, I will cripple you and leave for the morning sun, your choice." Releasing her hand, he stepped back out of easy striking distance.
