Taking a sip of his wine, Vincent listened to Catherine's explaination of the severed head, noting her amusement at his carrying alcohol. Slightly unnerved by how casual she seemed about the loss of another vampire, Vincent wondered whether her sadistic streak would match his own. That aside, Vincent decided to probe slightly - it wasn't often he met a vampire, much less a female one.
"So how long have you been a part of this eternal masquerade, then?", He said, turning his head to Catherine, and smiling, "myself, I was turned a little over 350 years ago". Vincent took another sip of his wine, and, realising that their glasses were emptying, topped them both up - no sense wasting the bottle now it was un-corked. "Do you enjoy the sins of mortal life often?", He added to his question, realising how rare it was to find a vampire that consumed anything beyond blood.
Vincent thought for a second, and came to the conclusion that Catherine was much more business-like in her dealings with the wolves than he was - a refreshing change, but he couldn't help wondering if his carefree attitude to their supernatural foes would cause tension...

"Less than 200 years. It seems so much shorter though..." She smiled as he topped off their glasses again, and leaned back. The wine was pleasant, somewhat sharp, but it was relaxing nonetheless. I wonder what Melianara would think of seeing us drinking wine. She never was one for the "sins of mortal life". Her dark braid unraveled as she took out the pin holding it up.

"The sins of mortal life..." she chuckled softly, holding a hand over her mouth. "I suppose you could say that." Catherine leaned a little closer, batting her eyelashes a bit as she combed her hair out with her fingers. "Do you?"

Alexander drummed on his thigh, waiting for that last of the straglers to appear, getting more annoyed every passing second.

"They better have a good excuse for this." He muttered, knowing full well that the others could hear him but not caring. Waiting this long was horribly dull and tedious. He wished he had a book to bring but unfortunantly he had been under the impression that the others wouldn't slouch off. Alex wished that William would start the meeting already but knowing him, this was unlikely unless things were incredibly urgent. As for Curtis...he had seen him around but wasn't really sociable with him...or anyone really. He could have tried to make smalltalk but he rather hated bullshit like that so he sat there...annoyed...and bored...and and impatient...and annoyed...

"Truely this is purgatory. Our brethern are dying out there From Blood-sucking, Festering, Maggot Filled Gnats And THESE FOOLS WANT TO KEEP US WAITING?!" He said, building up to shouting, standing up as he did so. He then calmed his voice and said, "Even if they died, their messangers should have been back by now. Bodies should have been found. We should have heard something!"

Going to check with Wenseph next, unless s/he isn't supposed to be here with us. As you can guess i contacted impulse and...well, we just started and we're already a werewolf down.

Also, i wanted to write it another way but this just didn't feel right to me with out yelling at the end.

"Calm yourself brother," Curtis said after Alexander?s outburst. "If we where to launch a retaliatory strike now, out of anger, we?d be playing right into the vamp's hands." Even before becoming a lycan Curtis had always been interested in military history, he knew that an angry opponent made mistakes, and the vampires were trying to make them angry.

"If we wait and plan, then we can hit them where they are unprepared, and hit them so hard that any of those fuckers won't dare challenge us again!" That last bit was delivered with a menacing snarl in his voice, his features rippling and distorting as the anger tried to transform him. He understood Alexander's anger, and the bestial part of him wanted to just rip, tear, and destroy, but he knew they must be patient.

As Ernst made his way to the entrance of Melianara's fortress he noticed the corpse of a werewolf sitting for all to see. Ernst walked up to it intrigued. He hadn't had a chance to get a good close look at a werewolf for some time now, the last one he killed he had to leave in the desert before the helicopters closed in on him. The only one he had really gotten a good look at was the one he had killed outside of Dresden back when the Soviets still ruled the area. After taking some time to look at the corpse, he quickly became bored with it and moved inside the fortress for the meeting.

One of the guards of the place took him through the halls to a room where he was told to wait before the meeting was ready. It seemed there were some others already there though, a male and a female. Both seemed to be drinking something from some glasses and the female was leaning in towards the male. Ernst subtly sneered at the pair, somewhat offput by their "high-class" behavior, but his attention was quickly drawn to the corpse of what seemed to be a third vampire, another female, horrible dismembered and at the foot of the "live" woman. Ernst didn't really know what to think about that, had their been a fight in here? He stared back at the two before he suddenly got the sense that he had seen the man a long time ago.

The new arrival's presence made Catherine smile. It's been a while since I've seen so many vampires peacefully accumulated in one place... "Well hello~" she finished what was left in her glass in one pass, and stared at Ernst through half open eyes. "Catherine. Catherine de Leon." The way her name rolled off the tongue pleased the vampiress. Yes I suppose I'm rather vain...

She noticed the way he stared at the body and chuckled a little. "Don't worry. She was dead a long time before she got here. Werewolves are getting nasty aren't they?" She licked the rim of her glass, leaning back from Vincent.

"Hrm. I wouldn't know, haven't really had trouble with them that much. Maybe it's just how I live. Or rather don't." Ernst stared at the other man for a bit trying to figure out where he had seen him. He gave up though and turned towards the woman who now seemed to have her attention solely on him. "The name is Ernst Schulz. I doubt that you've heard of me, I'm not that big in the vampire community."

Ernst made his way over to the pair and took a seat near by. He pointed to the body lying on the floor, "So you know what happened to her? She pick a fight with the wrong werewolf or something?"

"You could say that." she licked her lips a little. "She's no more than a month old. You know how the newly turned are. Drunk with power... immortality..." she laughed. "She was no match. The werewolf reduced her to her current state quite easily. I wish her opponent were a bit weaker though. Its always fun to see the new blood fighting each other..."

Catherine tossed her head a little, her silky hair rippling with the motion. What a peculiar crowd. I must wonder whether the Queen simply sent out summons to everyone in the area...

"'Fair' fights are always more fun to watch. More blood on both sides," Ernst said with a grin breaking across his face. This vampire may seem like your typical "noble" bloodsucker (as if there was anything more oxymoronic) but she seemed to have that taste for combat similar to him. Ernst might be able to get along with her if they were going to work together.

"So you were there to watch it I guess? Just decided to get a good show?" Ernst wasn't used to being around the undead so much. He usually was around mortals, both when on the hunt and just blending it. Most other older vampires seemed to have a presence around them that made you want to pay attention. This one certainly seemed to have that as Ernst found her strangely alluring. He wasn't quite sure why either with his one track mind.

William waited until Alexander finished his rant.
"Curtis is right brother if we attack now then the vampires will pick us off easily. They're scum but the older ones are strong and an angry opponent means an easy opponent.I don't know why the others are taking so long but rest assured we will do something about this recent crime."

"Yes... I was there to... watch." she smirked, 'forgetting' to mention how she had told the young vampire to kill the werewolf. "It'll be easy... werewolves are weak, pathetic, furballs. You're immortal now. You're unstoppable..." "It was no fun, of course. He beat her down quickly. The wolf didn't even need to use his full power..."

Part of her had to wonder what was keeping Melianara. But who am I to complain? There's good company~ "Ernst was it? What brings you to the castle of the Ice Queen? You don't exactly seem like her type." she grinned, noting his... different appearance. I wonder how long he's been a vampire... not often you see one dressed like this, that's for sure. I would have taken him for a werewolf.

"Nein, I wouldn't expect her to keep people like me around for company. I'm here more for... work then anything else." Ernst took out one of his knives; his oldest one, the one had received way back in the beginnings of the "Great War"; and began to twirl it around in his fingers, the grin on his face growing wider and more predatory. "I been through the biggest wars this world has seen, not to mention plenty of smaller ones. I'm guessing she figured I would be useful if we go wolf hunting and so invited me along."

Ernst looked the woman over once more, trying to get a feel for her. She didn't look that dangerous, just a pretty face for the most part, but Ernst knew that plenty of vampires were like that, and that non were to be underestimated. Considering her coolness when it came to combat and death, true death, it was likely she was no push-over in combat. "So what about you? You here for work or for company?"

"Both. Although I do prefer company." Catherine leaned back in her chair a little, crossing her legs. "We vampires don't usually see each other unless there's some big event like this. Not very many can survive the first few months after turning unless someone helps them, and that get's boring after a while."

She had tried to turn a few of her better human encounters in the past, but it quickly got boring. Just like Priscilla. Sure they had some fun times, but it quickly wore off, and she used her as bait for the werewolves. Not one of my better ideas. It was over too soon.

"You've spent time in Germany?" It interested her where vampires went over the course of their long lives. Hundreds of years in one place was usually dull and dangerous. Europe and America seemed to be favorites. Probably because the tropical regions wouldn't suit us much. she thought grimly.

-=January 1917 - German Frontline Field Hospital - Somewhere on the French border=-

Vincent awoke, and promptly remembered the nurse with whom he had spent the night - one Ms. Fletcher-Baum - a woman who was soon to volunteer to spy for the Germans in a British field hospital. The nurse laid beside him, still asleep, her normally knee-length skirt sitting most of the way up her thighs. "two of the best things about vampirism", Thought Vincent, "are immunity to disease, and the inability to bear children naturally". Deciding to wake the nurse up, Vincent slid under the sheets...

Hours later, walking casually out of the field hospital, Vincent felt a nigh-unmistakable aura in the air - he was not the only member of the undead around. Deciding that vampiric company would be a pleasant change from all of the soldiers, Vincent resolved to find this newcomer. He looked around, somewhat disgusted by all the mud, and decided to find some breakfast in the trenches, having allowed the nurse to live, so as to use her services again...

-=Modern Day - Fortress of the Vampire Queen=-

"I think," started Vincent, finishing his wine "that i have more vices in death than I ever managed to accrue in life. I've tried most of the mortal vices, and enjoyed almost all, though they seem to hold less enjoyment when there's no risk..." Vincent had noticed Catherine fluttering her eyelashes at him, and was making a conscious effort to remain restrained - He hadn't had that type of vampiric company since Violet.
Looking to the new arrival, Vincent felt an air of familiarity with him, as if they had met before. Vincent initially dismissed this idea as little more that Deja Vu, though the thought kept surfacing. "Ernst, did you say? I'm Vincent - Pleasure to meet you - do you drink?", asked Vincent, pulling out the remainder of his Chablis.
Deciding to find out about these two strangers, Vincent, restraining the flurry of questions in his mind, asked "What brings each of you here, then? Do you encounter werewolves often?". He flashed a grin at Catherine, as if to say 'i mean, do you often feed kindred to them?'...

--January 1917 - German Frontline Trenches - Somewhere on the French border--

Ernst made his way through the trenches leading up to the very front one. The German Soldier's around him made sure to get out of his way so that he could pass. On the surface he looked like most of them, same uniform and weapon, covered in mud from their constant stay in the trenches. But they all knew that Ernst wasn't to be messed with and a lot whispered that he was different somehow, that he wasn't human. Ernst didn't care one way or the other, he was just eager to feed. And he had to cross no-man's land to do it, although it was much easier at night, especially for him.

While he was at the front trench and getting ready to go over, he felt an odd feeling that he wasn't used to. He felt like he was sensing something in the area, but he couldn't tell what. He hadn't been a vampire for long (at least not relatively), but he had figured out most of the facets as life as the undead. He hesitated and looked around the darkened trench, trying to figure out why had a feeling that something else was around.

--Modern Day - Fortress of the Vampire Queen--

Turning over to the strangely-familiar vampire, Vincent his name was, Ernst answered his question. "Drink? Not to much, only on occasion." Ernst took a sniff, figuring out that they seemed to be drinking wine. "Not much of a fan of wine either, mainly good beer for me."

"But ja, I've spent quite some time in Deutschland." Ernst turned back to the Catherine. "I've mainly stuck to Europe, though I have traveled around the world a bit during the last couple decades. Little conflicts are popping up all over the place and some people are looking for mercenaries to fight in them." Ernst turned to speak to both of them now. "And what about you two? Travel around much?"

*Lyon had recieved a message from the werewolf william, some hours ago. They had found her in the forest, where she had just been taking it easy, thinking of what she should do next. When they informed her that she had been summoned, she was in no rush to get there. Werewolves and vampires would continue to fight anyway, even if someone tried to stop the killing. That was her opinion.*

*She had wondered why she had been summoned though. It didn't happen that often. She mostly kept to herself, but this time her curiosty had gotten the better of her.*

*Lyon was walking through the halls of William's stronghold, escorted by a guard that hadn't said much.*

*The guard knocked on a door which they walked by and Lyon was let into the room. Where she could see William sitting on a throne and some others as well.*

*Lyon was in her human form at the moment and she looked like an old, fragile lady. That was far from her true werewolf form. She walked into the room and took a chair.*

"Hello, gentlemen. I'm not sure why, but I was summoned." Lyon said and leaned back in her chair*

William allowed himself a small smile as he saw Lyon walk in.He knew that if anyone could aid him in this venture it would be her.Her wisdom and knowledge fa surpassed him she could have been the Wolf queen if she wanted but he knew that she wasn't much of the ruling type.
"Gentlemen if you don't know this is our sister Lyon don't be fooled by her old lady appearance she is an accomplished fighter and far wiser than any of us here. It's good to see you Lyon."He raised an eyebrow."I figured if anyone knew what was going on besides me it would be you."

-=January 1917 - German Frontline Trenches - Somewhere on the French border=-
Vincent walked into the trenches, glad of the shade provided by the dugouts, and the general gloominess of the day. Reaching the Officer's quarters where he was staying, he drank a quick Whisky, and relaxed into bed.
Waking up at the crack of dusk, Vincent stretched, anticipating a night of good hunting - he planned to enter the British trenches, as he could still feel that aura, although not so strongly now. After another Whisky - a 15-year-old Glenfiddich Malt, serving as a sort-of breakfast, Vincent headed out, Into no-mans land, knowing that his nondescript suit was unlikely to draw too much attention. He had visited this British trench several times already, and the Tommies bunked there tended not to shoot him too much - they'd learned it had little effect. Dropping into the trench, Vincent once again felt the unsettling aura of his fellow vampire drawing close...

-=Modern Day - Fortress of the Vampire Queen=-
"I tend to stay in England where i can" Said Vincent, in answer to Ernst's question, "I;ve lived in France, Germany, America and Russia in the past though, and visited all sorts of places. I'm not such a fan of beer myself, it just doesn't have the sophistication of Wines and Spirits."

Vincent leaned back, gazed at Catherine for a short time, taking in the young vampiress's charms, and wondered to himself whether many more vampires would turn up. He pulled his letter (or should it be called an invitation?) out of his breast pocket, showed it around, and spoke. "I assume you both received one of these, did you?"

Vincents mind wandered, thinking about the chained beast in his basement, wondering how many days it would last before it died, alone, and in immense pain... Happy with this thought, Vincent smiled, and glanced once more at Catherine - She certainly pouted a lot.

At long last, Melianara appeared in the throne room, apparently out of nowhere. One of the advantages of secret passages. "Welcome, my fellow vampires. You may be wondering why you are here. Well, the werewolf by the door should inform you. Those werewolf bastards are getting a bit too close to our territory. That one was found less than a meter from the fortress. They are pushing on us. It's time to push back."

"It's good to see you too, William. And I'm flattered by your words."

*Lyon wasn't sure if they had met before. They may have, but her reputation could also have made her known to William.*

"I heard about the vampires killing werewolves. I was there tonight actually, when Melianara killed one of our brothers and laid his body in front of her fortress as a warning."

*Lyon laughed. The two sides would never stop fighting. There would be no peace and they were all practically immortal. The battle between vampires and werewolves had been going on when she was a young werewolf.*

"Of course this is a bad thing, but unless you have a some sort of plan... Then I'm not sure why I was summoned, since I tend to my own business and doesn't normally kill, unless I have too."
