No, basically because in my over-whatifrical mind I'd be asking myself what the downfall, the catch, or the side effects are to this drug beyond it's furriness.

I imagine that instincts and basic animalistic urges would heighten as well, leading to territorial wars and a loss of organized society without some construct of alpha males ruling over prides or packs. Could also lead to a loss of ingenuity, which is tied to but not exclusive to intelligence. Without ingenuity you lose creativity and end up a work horse, being able to solve equations and life heavy objects but not so good at being inventiveNot to mention that by exploiting the new, heightened animalistic urges of the Furs, non-users may easily be able to manipulate them into doing the grunt work thus creating class systems where the Humans are on top and the Furs are near bottom., which is integral to my line of work so...

Well thats assuming that humans don't have any of this already I have you forgotten that we are animals already, just another group of mammals. We have alpha males, our presidents, kings, queens, prime ministers.

Also not all animasl follow the same social patterns. Meerkats have a rather socialist group structure. Wolves tend to live alone and sometimes group in packs for a time. Most human behaviour is due to society and upbrining. Humans have the potential for language, doesn't mean we will learn it though.

The idea of human-animal hybrids has been floating around for a while now (Focus did a article on this about a year ago at least) and there are some cases of people acting on these theories (key gorrila penis replacements for men)


Bottom line: Who wouldn't want to be Hank Mccoy (a.k.a Beast) the blue furred genius (we also happens to be preety popular with the ladies post furrifaction).

Actually that's a good question, what animal parts would we grow? And why would I want a gorilla penis?

Well that's beside the point, what's important is that we human animals appear to be more in control of our animal urges and in some ways are, but not entirely. Introduction of a syrum that can potentially offset ingenuity for intelligence would weaken our control over those urges and it'd bee soon that we'd be unable to be civil about matters.

Presidential debates would be more interesting though.

Honestly, I'm weird enough as it is and actually they way that OP describes it as being more a sports suplament/enhancer I could see a lot of jocks I know actually taking that.
Meaning being a 'real' furry may actually become mainstream.

That depends. If it's only stuff like cat ears or a tail, then yes, I'm pretty sure I would do that.
Anything more than that (which "furry" does kind of imply) and I would most likely decline and wait for transhumanism to come up with something different.

Also, would that change other things, like color/night vision or reproductive behavior? Because being color blind or going in heat and such don't sound like much fun to me.

I wouldn't be so fast to assume this. What you described was universally useful - any resentment would more likely be driven by jealousy than by some hatred for these "furries". I'm sure religious groups would be up in arms about some essentialist "humanity" nonsense, but that's true of pretty much anything.

Assuming it was known to be safe, of course I'd agree to it.

A lot of people are talking about "fursecution". So... here's something interesting...

Historically the argument that was used to allow slave ownership was "we don't feel they deserve to be given humans rights, because we don't believe they are human". Almost all discrimination uses some variant of this excuse (untermensch and all that).

If such a thing were to exist, you can bet someone's going to come up with the thought "they're no longer genetically human, ergo, they aren't human".

But, hey, maybe we've entered a new age of enlightenment and tolerance where this sort of thing won't happen, who knows?

Anyway...

I don't think I'd take the serum. But I'm not a furry, so, go figure... now, if you were offering something like a replacement arm that shoots lasers, I'd jump on that. What could we get from animals? The ability to smell funky and roll in our own dung? I'll pass. Plus I can't barely stand what little hair I've got, fur would be a fucking nightmare.

Alright so a research company comes up with a serum and releases it this year. The company itself is not important, the serum itself is not important. If you have to ask, the company made the serum for the betterment of humanity.

What the serum does is improve your mental and physical prowess above that of a normal human. However, we're being realistic here. Your not Captian America, but the average serum user is equal in brains to a smart human. A genius user will always be smarter than a genius non-user. If you have never been able to lift a car, well now you can alibet only a foot or two. You can work longer, harder, faster, better, and stronger.

However, the serum does this by combining animal traits with human traits producing animal-human hybrids, the aforemention furry part. Using the serum turns you into a furry (assuming there are multiple types of serums for people who want a specific hybrid, one for a fox-human, wolf-human, etc...)

As for me? I might consider it if my life took a turn for the worse. It would also depend on what animal and how strong a dosage the serum was. For example if I could take a small dose with only small side-effects and boosts then I would be even more convinced.
