This is great news. Hard to believe that FOX would do something like this, but so very wonderful.

The DVD special episodes have been a hell of a boon. And just like Family Guy before it, Futurama is returned thanks to the magic of DVD sales.
Now let's hope Futurama stay fresher for longer than Family Guy....or at least fresher than a truck store "fresh" egg sandwich.

No more damn DVD's. Just bring the show back.
Yeah I have to say that the show didn't really seem to work in a feature length movie format.

Have you not heard of this before though? They said before the movies were released that they were going to follow them up with new eps on tv... Maybe it's my friend's fault for being so absolutely obsessed and filling me in on every bit of news from futurama (not that i mind), or maybe it's the fact that I spend too much time browsing over my favorite shows on the internet...

Am I the only one that sees the negative direction that this will head in?

So: Futurama has made a little more noise now it's been cancelled from TV. People have bought loads of DVDs and merchandise since and now Fox are happy to bring it back on a weekly basis. But I GUAREN-DAMN-TEE after the first new series it will turn into half assed, Fox driven, deadline rushed mockery of the show it once was.

See: FAMILY GUY (and the Simpsons too I guess, ignoring the lack of cancellation)

They should stick to the new format they have now. 4 films over the space of 2 years (or so) where the creators have more than sufficient time to create what THEY want, when THEY want. Not just trying to keep up with Fox's weekly demand to churn out anything as long as the name's on TV and they're making money.

I'd be happy if they brought the movie length features out at the cinema and then to DVD. TV is dying and they'll take down every half decent show with them until they stop making cashito.

I cant believe it!

The movies were good news to me, being a HUGE futurama fan, but they didnt really cut it compared to the four seasons that i own on DVD.
Now talk of the original genius COMING BACK!!??

Oh my! I do believe hell has just frozen over if "FOX" is planning on bringing back a good show like Futurama. If they look at Firefly next that would be the second coming of Christ.
They did it with Family Guy after it generated so much buzz on Adult Swim. I'd say that was a pretty lucrative (re)investment on their part.

An amazing show indeed. But I wonder if they should? Better to have it die while still strong than to have it linger and become painful like the Simpsons. Look at Bender's Game...do we really want that to happen again?
I'll agree that Benders Game wasn't that great, but have you seen the most recent one, Into the Wild Green Yonder? It's easially the best one so far, and that's saying something (The Beast with a Billion Backs was genius).

Family guy was actually cancelled twice. It's the only show to ever come back from the dead twice

This might go terribly wrong if they exploit Futurama the same way that they did with Simpsons.

Whilst Futurama is a brilliant show, by Season 12 it will the same crap we're used to seeing from Groening. By then Simpsons will be on its 50th Series, South Park will have retired, Family Guy and American Dad will have hit 2000 episodes and a million other animated shows will rise up to destroy us all.

Just something for you to think about.

I don't know about you guys, but I thought the Futurama movies were terrible. The show itself just took a while to catch on. The movies only went in development because the show started doing so well on DVD, Cartoon Network and Comedy Central

Also everyone please Digg: http://digg.com/television/More_Futurama_On_The_Way

Simpsons Had at least 9 great seasons and even the newer stuff is better than average. If we get just two or three more AAA Futurama seasons then I don't care if it turns into another cashcow on life support. Of course, seeing what they did with the Futurama DVD movies my faith in their writing staff is shaken.
