Broken from his contemplation he considered breaking the tension by telling the Captain his suspicions. No. No he started this he can cop what's coming to him. Grinning wryly at the floor, swigging from the flask refilled from Jim's leftover bottle, Shanks felt a sudden detachment. A sudden lack of care come over him, like he was watching what was about to happen from far away.
"Y'know what, captain, maybe, maybe I do have some suggestions, sure you wanna here 'em? They're better than 'Lets use some equipment we don't have to pin my own mistakes on someone else'. So you sure you wanna, captain?. Too late, I've started," getting to his feet, lifting one knee and placing his foot on the seat, he gestured out to the whole room. "Maybe you could start by working out why there was only one man on watch last night, or where everyone was when this happened, and who has alibis. Thats what any competent captain would be doing."
Pointing directly at the man with the unscrewed flask he continued, "Maybe, captain, we could work out why are you sho desperate to know the 'Who' and not the 'Why', hmm? As far ash I know, people don't get their fashes cut up for no reashon, it tends to meshs with your shocial life, but maybe, captain, you don't need to ask for the why, because you already know, don't you?" he was sure he'd struck gold, and pressed home his point, slurring more and more as he went on, "What ihs on this boat captain? Shomething beshides the AI? I'm sure your truhsting crew would be very interested if you had put there lives in danger for profit, eh?" It was at this point that he toppled over.
From the floor, he concluded, "Enough suggestions for you," hic, "captain?" and then passed out.
