All of you people who say cinematic games would work well as movies are wrong. Why? Because those games are already borrowing heavily from movies you might as well just remove the gameplay from the games, cut all the cutscenes together and call it a movie. Now tell me it makes a good movie. You'd have to add bits in here and there, then change stuff, then remove bits, then move stuff arouund, and by that point the studio making it might as well change EVERYTHING and by that poitn you have a pile of crap, which is what I think happens to most game movies.
No, you know what COULD work? Borderlands. Make it character centric, keep the humour, throw in some backstories for the 4 leads and some vague McGuffin about the Vault for the plot. Then throw in gunfights, followed by more gunfights, followed by car chases across alien infested wastelands, then some more gunfights. Make it funny/action packed in a Zombieland sort of style and you'd have a solid movie, that wouldn't be too far removed from the source material to piss off any fans and you're golden.
This is the only game movie I think would work and that I'd want to see. Everything else (God of War, Metal Gear, etc) I've already seen and played, and no movie conversion will ever top them, so why bother?
