**POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT**
I finished GOW3 today yeah i know a bit late. Anyway i had a friend over watching it and he knew a little bit about GOW and, Kratos in particular and after watching the ending we both had different opinions on whether it was a good ending or not .

My question is what climaxes or endings to games have left you disappointed ?

Edit: I am talking about climaxes or endings of video games which did not justify the journey or leave the player with a sense of accomplishment. Or just plain sucked

Any important fights in Oblivion. It's like, you spend ages fighting monsters or bandits but then when you get to a boss at the end of a quest line expecting to have this epic long battle, you just take them down in several attacks. Hell, some of the bandits put up better fights. It's really disappointing.

EDIT: Only exception being the arena.

I know what you mean that was exactly what let me down in that game :l

[small]hehe.. disappointing climaxes.. snigger[/small]

OT:

The ending of Fallout 3 was a bit of a limp squid. Borderlands too.

Neither really had the desired effect of giving a dramatic and satisfying climax to thier stories.

At least Broken Steel made up for that though.

Oh, just about any "to be continued" will do.

Or game that you stop playing for a week for whatever reason & you find a year latter that not only did you never finish the game, but you're not really interested.

Well, I'm going for Assassins Creed 2, it just left me saying "what the fuck just happened?".

Well, I thought it was an awesome game, but the story left me wanting.

Okami was a big let down.

You kill the final boss, then fly off to the Sherbert Kingdom with your enemy, and leave your friend/voicebox behind.

Also, I don't like the final boss in Bioshock. I didn't kill him, the sisters did!

Fallout 3 prior to Broken Steel was terrible, although it would have been nice of Broken Steel to have an ending.

I disliked Halo 2's and 3's. The former because of the cliffhanger and the latter because it basically set up for another game as if nothing ever happened.

Definitely, especially as they didn't even make a damn third one.

I thought the ending to fallout 3 was decent, it had to end some how didn't it?
The issue was with the lack of logic at the end. There are two companions in the game who could have went into the room without being killed but they refuse to for no other reason than "It is not my destiny to do so".

Were those two companions not in the game then it would have been OK.

Damn you ninja!

Yeah, Fallout 3's ending was kinda....lame. So after all that bullshit you had to go through, it's just like "Hey we need to ask you a favor, will you go into this irradiated room and hit that switch for us?"

There wasn't really a climax at all. It felt so rushed that I couldn't really comprehend what exactly happened. Liberty Prime was cool though and at least I have the add ons now, but still.

And on that subject, Mothership Zeta was disappointing as well.

Borderlands. Flat out terrible - the entire bloody game was a huge build-up to accessing the vault, and all you get is a lousy boss fight (spray and pray for 10 minutes or until you run out of ammo) and then that's it?!

And AC2 was always going to have an obtuse/unclear ending. They need to set up for AC3. I didn't think it was that bad - it'll be interesting to see how they resolve the series. Hell, it'll be interesting to see where the next one is set!

Sadly my decisions made the epic fight turn into the baseball bat scene from Inglourious Bastards.

He stood there and I just kept hitting.

I'm a horrible person.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that whole exposing his father thing. Well, if you don't do that, he puts up an insanely tough fight. But I was playing a mage and I have a feeling he's strongly resistant.

Sorry, dear, but the climax that time was rather dissapointing.

[sub]snigger[/sub]

But anyway, the ending for the original Mother is TERRIBLE. Makes me very grateful for Earthbound Zero, even though it was never officially released.

Opinions make the world go round don't they, with out them it would all stop spinning.

It depends on the game.

With certain games like, Fallout 3 ans AC2, it was really about the journey you took rather than the actual destination. So even if those endings were lackluster, I still loved the games themselves.

But the ending in GoW3 felt like a deflated beach ball.
