Mirrors Edge and the newest Prince of Persia game. They're not very violent games and have an interesting artistic style.
This and most JRPG games would be a good idea

Ummmm... let's see...
*Goes to game collection*
Artistic... artistic... what about.. no he said no violence...
I got nothing, Braid and Flower come to mind I'm pretty sure both are available on PSN, but other than that there are a lot of violent games, it's hard to get away from.

Believe it or not, I've gotten a girl into Bioshock (mostly because she's a fan of Ayn Rand, but still...)
Wait... You got a Rand fan into a game that's essentially built on the untenable nature and inevitable failure of Randian Objectivism? BU-WHAAAAA?!

OT: The Katamari games are good, as are puzzle-based games like Bejeweled (or Puzzle Quest if she likes a bit o' narrative), Peggle, Fat Princess, the Maw, Braid, Flower, or various other Pop Cap games like Plants vs. Zombies, Zuma or Bookworm. She might also like the LEGO universe games, or some E-rated platformers like Psychonauts, Spyro, or Jak & Daxter.

Apologies for anything already listed.
Indeed I did. However, it's important to note that just because she's a Rand fan doesn't mean she's objectivist. She likes the books, but still thinks the ideologies a little bit whacked.

OT: Yeah, Flower certainly counts as an artistic game, that might be worth a shot.

Flower on the PS3 is great, downloadable on the Playstation Store. It's innovative, relaxing and quite cool to play.

Colin McRae DiRT 2 is an excellent racing game, if she's into that.

Oh, and if she doesn't mind some violence and likes great stories, she'll love these games:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
Heavy Rain
BioShock 1 & 2
Assassin's Creed 2
Mirror's Edge
Final Fantasy XIII

You can't have an omelet without breaking some eggs, right?

Great suggestions so far in this thread.
I support Okami, Kingdom Hearts 1+2, and Portal.
Never played Flower personally, but it looks interesting.

I agree that she would probably enjoy Sims 3, but not a PS3 game. Again not a PS3 game, but my girlfriend and I have fun playing Age of Mythology together. It's an older RTS which runs pretty well even on laptops. Lots of cool looking mythological creatures, and you're a little bit distanced from the fighting because it's an RTS. I don't think she'd really mind the violence.

Folklore is a wonderful choice. The aesthetics in that game are simply wonderful.

Now, are we limited to PS3 choices?
Yes sadly, thats the only thing she has access to

Ah, OK. Usually when I hear someone refer to themselves as a 'fan' of Ayn Rand it's followed by something to the effect of "OMG all teh wurldz problemz wud be fixed if we jus' stop given helpz to poor peeple and work for ousselfz!" Until you want to beat them about the head with a thick treatise on social conscience.

It is a pretty great use of narrative to have Bioshock 2 demonstrate that the opposite end of the spectrum doesn't work any better. If anything, the Rapture Family idea is creepier.

My girlfriend really likes Assassin's Creed 2 and DJ Hero, and to a lesser extent Dragon Age: Origins.

My sister (26) loved that wii game with the dogs...

Artsy and for the PS3? I'm drawing a blank. Umm, Mini Ninjas? I think that's on the PS3

I think folklore is the best option. Heavy Rain may be worth considering too.

I am thinking either Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out or Folklore since both are more artistic and focused on story but I would be grateful for your opinions.
Jesus christ hit her over the head with games why dontcha. No to offend, but you want to start new people off with easy stuff. Final Fantasy has all these numbers and elements and monsters and a lot of fights are a lot more than constantly attackig and spamming potions.

Platformers can be a good starter. Simple objectives, easy but challenging gameplay. Get to the end of the level and dont fall in a hole! Booya. I got one of my friends into gaming with an FPS, dunno if that'd apply here.

Edit: Seconding votes for Portal and Left 4 Dead!

Hey guys! My girlfriend recently got into gaming. She's been playing Little Big Planet and games from PSN Store on her brother's PS3 and she would like to get more into gaming. However, she is the sensitive, artistic type and does not like shooters or too violent games. I promised her I would get something and I don't know what exactly. I am thinking either Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out or Folklore since both are more artistic and focused on story but I would be grateful for your opinions.
DDR, bitches love that shit, it's like crack

hmmm maybe kingdom hearts, after all its Disney so its not too violent, oh and i know some girl gamers who love the sims series, so maybe your girl would like that too
I love how violence is determined by blood content, not how many "heartless" I bludgeoned to death in the game XD

But yeah, Kingdom Hearts would be a good choice for her.

I have gotten two of my girlfriends into gaming, the first with resident evil 5 and the second with the elder scrolls: Oblivion. both of them liked the Sims 3 so i would try that. its not to hard core and had shopping and such which girls tend to like
