Get her the Orange Box if just for Portal.

That's a pretty good puzzle game right there.
DO EEEEET. I have no more to add. And if she feels compelled she could try Hl2 and Tf2

WAIT A SECOND PEOPLE.

"...on her brother's PS3 and..."
DON'T DO EEEEET

I am a girl.
I was gaming before I was dating.
I like most RPGs...but then again I am a fan of gore, and I love me some FPS.
Unfortunately don't get to play them too much.

Mass effect two. She can use biotics and artfully kill people by turning their bodies into horribly disfigured floating sculptures, and not have to fire a single shot. Unless it's a cutscene.

Hey guys! My girlfriend recently got into gaming. She's been playing Little Big Planet and games from PSN Store on her brother's PS3 and she would like to get more into gaming. However, she is the sensitive, artistic type and does not like shooters or too violent games. I promised her I would get something and I don't know what exactly. I am thinking either Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out or Folklore since both are more artistic and focused on story but I would be grateful for your opinions.
Well my girlfriend sounds similar and i have had a great deal of luck with:

Portal
The Maw
Bioshock
Phoenix Wright

Also (though i hate it with passion) the Fable series might do the trick

I honestly couldn't tell you, since my girlfriend plays just about anything. The best I can think of is, I don't know... Katamari Forever? That game is awesome, there's no way she won't like that. If she actually doesn't, then I'm afraid she's not artsy or sensitive, she just has a stick up her behind, with all due respect. But I'm sure she'll like it. ;)

PS: Keeping in mind she only has a PS3. Right?

I just don't understand why girls have to go around encouraging the stereotype that girls don't like shooting people in the face with lazers and bullets. I LOVE VIOLENCE. And I hate anyone who would suggest something like Twilight the video game.
Maybe she personally just doesn't want to play violent games. Girls don't need to play violent games just to prove they can.
Of course. Although it's odd to suggest that any person would be unable to play a violent game. But I get what you mean. But seriously, who in this day and age is put off my violence? Is she religious or is she 80? Violence is so much fun.

I was more ticked off about all the comedians suggesting games like Hello Kitty Island Adventure. HAHA all girls play games for little children, that's funny! Funny in the way that your should get cancer and die.

Get her a DS of her choice and Elite Beat Agents.

You are welcome. Also, Folklore does sound like a great idea. That was a blast to play.

Now that I think about it, Killer 7 might also be an interesting choice.

Granted, as a game it is not terribly good, but the art, soundtrack, and story could all be of interest to her if you play up the artistic angle, and downplay its shooter nature and violence.

Basically any JRPG game. They're usually geared more towards females anyway.

I give a tentative recommendation towards Heavy Rain (like an above poster), though the game really might be a bit too violent. The new PoP is also good (as someone else already said).

Force her to play Silent Hill 2. Then smother her to death so you can be together forever.

NOOOOOO DON'T DO THAT THAT'S CRAZY.

Ico would be an awesome game for her. Or anyone. It's a very simple game, and not all that difficult, but it's a great deal of fun and if she can get into the setting, she'll be very lucky to count it among her first few games.

Bonus points if you claim that it was a really important game to you; she'll probably think you're all sensitive and junk.

Flower sounds like something she'd be into: it's artsy, non-violent, and really relaxing. Pixeljunk Shooter is another she might like and tends to be a bit more of an actual game, whereas Flower is more of an experience.

Both would probably be good for her, though, and both are on PSN.
