I would also suggest Portal, Prince of Persia(2008), and Shadow of the Colossus. I got one of my female friends into a bit of gaming with Prince of Persia. She is totally into cars and body kits, paint jobs, etc. and she's shown some interest in playing racing games. So I'd think about what other interests she has and if they mirror or parrot content in any games.

I'd also agree with any platformer. People just starting games usually don't have tons of eye-hand coordination yet(or just aren't used to have most video games work) and platformers generally have steady and easy learning curves that don't require too much effort or overly complex imputs.

Cooking Mama. Teach the ***** to do something useful.
Jk, seriously though, what consoles do you have? Kind of hard to judge if I don't know what you're capable of buying. Maybe something like guitar hero or DDR?

*looks at the "Barbie Horse Adventure" type answers and sighs in dismay*
Containing no Y chromosome myself, some suggestions I would throw out (which have probably already been mentioned ad nauseum, but I'm too lazy and tired to check, include:

Kingdom Hearts
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Katamari Damacy
Okami
Scribblenauts
Portal
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Plants vs Zombies
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Cooking Mama (tell her you're not trying to get her into the kitchen or anything, it's just a fun little game :p)
Rayman Raving Rabbids series (if she likes goofy cuteness)
Arcana Heart (modern old school fighter with all Japanese girl characters, if that made the slightest bit of sense)
.hack//infection
Ico
Bookworm Adventures (then again, I like word puzzly type games)
Guild Wars
Neverwinter Nights
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Princess Debut (ok, it's super super girly and a little juvenile, but it's part little Elite Beat Agents knock off, part dress up Japanese dating sim and it makes me happy, plus it's got these great little versions of public domain and classical songs)
Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort
Prince of Persia (not the new one, hell no)
Tetris Party (wiiware download)
Tetris DS (Brentalfloss knows; women love Tetris)
Mario Kart Wii
Psychonauts
Bomberman DS
Samba De Amigo
Pokemon Diamond or Pearl
Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (hidden picture game)
*opens up game drawer to check to see if there's any she forgot*
DDR
Guitar Hero/Rock Band
Karaoke Revolution/Singstar if she likes to sing

Looking over this list has made me aware of a few things:
1. Yeah, I'm broke and don't own many consoles (PC, DS, Wii, PS2, that's it)
2. Not many of these are actually "artsy" but are all fun in their own way
3. Yeah, some of these titles may seem juvenile or basic, but if she's new to gaming, you don't want to intimidate her with complex controls (ok so that rules out Arcane Hearts combos, but whatever). You just want her to have fun. The top seven on this massive going to bed procrastinating list should be great.
4. I'm tired and need to go to bed

Any sort of game that involves playing an instrument might be good. If she is all artsy 'n stuff, perhaps you should get an rts were you can win by only making buildings
Or any Anno game.

OT: Yeah, I'm going with Okami here.

My girlfriend also enjoys the violent games, but she like the arty kinda game more than me lol. Definitely try Okami. Spore. Maybe Kingdom Hearts? Maybe a Wii if she doesn't have one lol. I don't mean to say it's only for casual gamers, I have some fun games. But there's definitely a lot of "innocent" games.

Get her Folklore, I've heard some pretty negative things from people who've played the japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII. I also suggest Shadow of the Colossus, Heavy Rain (when that comes out), any PixelJunk game, and a light JRPG. I also suggest getting something with multiplayer, just so you two could enjoy it together.

Seeing as the Trey doesn't have backwards compatibility, I'd say go on PSN and download old games like Crash Bandicoot and the like.

However, my suggestion is: Get a PS2 and get her games like Crash Bandicoot (PS1), Kingdom Hearts, Egg Mania (PS2), Hogs of War (PS1) or even CSI. Those games are fun as well.

Hey guys! My girlfriend recently got into gaming. She's been playing Little Big Planet and games from PSN Store on her brother's PS3 and she would like to get more into gaming.
Fallout 3. Oh wait... she didn't like gore?...
Does she have all the new stuff for LBP? because that alone can last you quite a while...
If you want games that look nice, I would say Ratchet And Clank Future trilogy (really.), Flower (get Flower...) flOw...
...
maybe...
I don't know...
...
Fallout 3?

Love your avatar by the way : )

Portal would be a good option I presume.
Zeno Clash is beautiful, but also viciously violent, so that'd be a bad choice.
The Path is very artsy, but also harldy a game. It's more a story, or philosophical journey.
Ratchet and Clank games are very violent, but in a very quirky and cartoony way, have a great sense of humour and many different colourful planets to explore.
Uhh.
I'll let you know if I think of more.

Well I got my girlfriend into games with mario galaxy, and cemented it with portal. World of goo worked well too!

I showed her robot unicorns attack from alt escape, and she hasn't stopped playing since, so I wouldn't recommend that... Girls like unicorns a lot I guess?

If it's ps3 games, then um... I can't think of any...
