"Frag FPS" - Where all you do is frag frag frag/kill kill kill just to inflate your e-penis. (One reason why I hold up BF2 as the best FPS ever).
I'm not quite sure what you meant by 'Frag' FPS?

I can understand the appeal of nearly every type of game, even if I don't like them (Eg: MMORPGs, FPSs with maybe 5 exceptions)

However there is one I have never and probably will never understand, Train simulators. I mean why? All you can do is speed up and slow down, you can't even choose which way you go!
Train simulators actually exist? I thought that it was just a joke.
Oh yes, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Train_Simulator

The "fantasy sports" ones, where you "draft" players at the start of the season and track stats for the rest of the year. It's just playing a spreadsheet to me. (Now, actual "Fantasy Football" in the form of Blood Bowl I can understand really well.)

I really don't get the allure of slot-machine type games where you don't have anything to do but hit a button or pull a lever, either. I'd rather be doing something than watch the machine do something.

Any 2D game, I don't care how nostalgic they are.

Sports games, go play it in real life.

RPG games, unless its an RPG-7 aimed at some baddies.

Lego games, if you like Lego, go buy some, if you like games, go buy some.

Stealthy shooters, its a total oxymoron IMO.

Cartoon games, unless you're 5.

Sports games. Isn't the whole point of sports to compete with others in the field of full-body physical skill and not just your fingers? Plus the "sequals" that act more like patches then sequals.

Fighting games. I don't know how to describe it. I could say it is "just button-mashing", but then again, I like the Tales series and its combat system is just a fighting game with added RPG elements and teammates. So I hate the genre, but don't know why.

Thats about it I guess, unless dating sims count. I don't understand the appeal of those games.

MMORPG's,
I played one once, it felt like a second job, except at this one nobody would talk to me and it was nearly impossible to get anything done.
Dude, totally! MMORPG's are just way too intense for me...

i don't know why so many of you don't like fighting games.
You say it's full of button-mashing? yes, but only if you don't know any moves, or what the buttons do.
Fighting games are actually my favourite genre, as they are more fun to me than any other genre.
oh and to answer OP, i'd say the usual (MMO)RPG that is full of repetative combat, meaning it's not fun.

In a way I can understand that more, at least you control the steering of a truck, whereas a train there's forwards, backwards and that's it.

I don't like sports games, purely because its repetitive grinding, but yeah sure, a lot of games are. But sports games try to mask that by saying "Oh look, you could win it as this team, and have different players, of you could go to another country or just another division." When at least of grinders have the decency to admit their grinding.

I actually understand wholesale ignoring of games less than anything else. I can see the case against train simulators, but can't think of anything else that would be as pointless. For example, the RTS isn't my favourite genre, but I can understand the appeal of it. Same goes for stealth games.

There are also plenty of games where there's little to be gained from being totally 3D: Homeworld is just about the only game that I can think of that really benefits from this. I like variety in my graphics. Variety is good; not every game should look like Crysis, not every game should be 3D. That's why a game like KOF XII looks awesome, because it's a truly high-def 2D game. Haven't seen many of those before.

Sports as well... I never found any fun in looking at how other people do sports, even if they are controlled by me.

HOLY SHIT. I never thought I would find someone else who played one of the most awesome combat racers ever. I don't think a game that implemented the hovercar system from Back to the Future can be described as anything but awesome. Delivery truck for the win! Sadly, my disc is now scratched beyond all reason. I'm going to have to pick that up at some point.

Anyway, on topic, put me with the "I don't get MMOPRG's" crowd. It's a second job you pay for; that's all. While they don't particularly appeal to me, I can see the appeal of driving sims, but train sims? Seriously?

Also, I think the appeal of sports games is being able to play with a full team, where everyone does their job (for the most part). Honestly, how many times have you had a full roster for your pickup game? Plus, there's a lot of strategy to it; out-thinking the other team, calling audibles, etc. My brother is a big fan of the Madden series, and it's actually pretty impressive to watch him completely demolish the opposition with constant strategic switchups. You also have the opportunity to control any player at any time; you can't exactly catch your own thrown ball in meatspace, now can you? I do agree, however, that with graphics the way they are, they should really just start releasing roster update patches instead of full new games every year.

Problem is I get why the genres are so appealing to other people even if I don't like them. But I generally don't like RTS, MMORPG's, & Sports.

As for fighting, the problem with them is actually the restricted movement. If a game lets you jump around at speeds & anti-gravities matching those of your most outrageous action anime, wouldn't you wanna try it out? It's also about being skilled though.

Find a copy of Melty Blood: Act Cadenza (PC or PS2). It starts off like any street fighter game, but then you go to www.meltybread.com, check the forums for combos, practice with them. When you nail one character's combo, the others become easier. You find yourself at a new level of skill. Then you watch a youtube video of a tournament match, try to imitate what they're doing. I now find myself doing crazy things with crazy reflexes & speeds, & am very satisfied, getting a strong rush whenever I pull off something outrageous.

Fighting games and MMOs, for reasons already stated by others...

And even though it's not a genre... Gran Turismo games.

It's not a driving sim... the physics just aren't realistic. The games aren't fun and it doesn't help that you have to grind the same track with every single vehicle. What is the point of these games? They're like broken arcade racers.

sports/jrpg's/stealthy

sports- if you like it so much.. why don't you actually play it irl?

jrpg's- how can ANYONE hold a sword the size of a skyscraper?

stealth- i love stealth but what i don't understand is why hasn't any game done it well (assassins creed wasn't terrible but could use defiantly use improvement)

pretty much all of anime while your at it.
You know, whenever people say that, it just makes me think that they have zero perspective.

NOT ALL ANIME IS NARUTO.

And really, who's doing animation these days? Disney... I mean, Pixar? With their endless stream of CG snores? Other than them, it's all art students and starving/fringe artists. Animation is dead in the West.
