Haha very funny, you know what he meant.

OT: RTS are the same way for me also. I will just stick to playing the computer when Starcraft 2 comes out so my ego doesn't shrivel up and die.
I must have read the topic wrong so i read the OP same way

I love RTS's but no matter what guide I read, the moment I get into a game to use my newfound super tactics I end up turtling. Dammit.

RTS

I love the genre, but I'm too slow at multitasking to even compete with average players.

I'm good at TBS though, because these games give you the time to act.

First Person Shooters. I have the reflexes of a stale Twinkie, so much that I died upon encountering my very first headcrab.
I'm with you. I love to play them, through the campaign mode, but as soon as I go online, I get my ass handed to me.

My older brother actually teaches classes on game design, and one of the exercises is they all have to play all the different genres. He says the RTS is the one people have the biggest issue with.

I love RTS games, but whenever I play against another actual human, I get horribly slaughtered.

One exception to the FPS genre suckage for me was America's Army. I don't know why, but I was pretty solid at it.

As for RTS, did your brother happen to reason out a reason for people having issues with it? Reflexes, AI cheapness, or something else?

I LOVE watching my younger brother play games like RE4, Dead Space, and COD. I could never play these games myself because 1. I'm a wimp, and 2. My brother tried to teach my how to shoot on COD while he was playing a private match with one of his friends...his friend shot me in the head because he was annoyed that I was taking so long :'D
Believe me, I'd like to branch out and play things other than RPGs, I just don't know how to get started :/

If I recall correctly, it was the number of things you had to do at one time. Essentially, people who are really good at multitasking in games, are good at RTS games. Particularly when you start talking about armies of 100 or more. Between the upgrading, the building and the fighting you tend to forget what you are doing.

As for me, I played RTS games for a while, AOE mostly, and I have played Civilization and Warcraft (before it became World of and it was an RTS). I wasn't awesome at it, but I could defeat the PC on hard. The PC does cheat by the way. It gets a resource bump if you increase the difficulty level. It does not play smarter. Anyway, I had to stop with Company of Men. I think they actually made that game too realistic. My little army dudes would scream out in pain when they died, and had this army banter that made them seem too human for me to send out into battle. It kind of ruined it for me.

RTS games. I love them, but I'm just horrible at them. I get my ass handed to me in Starcraft, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and so on...

The only RTS game I'm remotely good at is Warcraft 3.

FPSs. I've finished plenty but I'm never all that good at multiplayer. Average at best, woeful on occasion, hehe.

I enjoy some Sim City every now and then, but damn do I suck at them. My cities fall apart usually long before I'm even finished setting them up. Also, I've played the Sim City games since Sim City 2000, and I still haven't gotten the hang of setting up the major utilities. Usually, the larger part of most of my cities go without water/electricity for months at a time.

RTS. I love Starcraft but I can't even complete the story and I still haven't played online because I know I would get owned.
