I love FPS games, and I think I'm pretty good when I manage to beat them on the highest difficulty on single campaign. But then I try playing online and get completely emasculated...

Hello Escapist's, after watching the Starcraft preview here on our humble site, i got thinking about how much i love the RTS, however it also got me thinking about how much i suck at them as around 90% of the time i play online i get dominated.

So escapsit's, what's a game genre you love to play but aren't very good at.
Thats because the people playing starcraft are people who havent stopped playing starcraft.

However I will also go with RTS, I love em to death but I'm piss terrible at em!

Against people, comps I can take!

RTS games. I always think that i have some skill in the game while doing campaign, then get my ass handed to me the first time I go online. But, I keep going back for some reason.

FPS and RTS. I love these genres so much, yet when I play against an actual person I die so quick you'd think I didn't have fingers.

RTSes like StarCraft and WarCraft. I'm absolutely atrocious at them, but they're some of my favouritest games ever.

I kind of suck at any RPG the first time through because I can't help myself from trying a little bit of everything when leveling up my character. I have to see what everything does, so I master nothing.

For me, it's the same as the OP - I love RTS. Love em. But I'm terrible at them.

Well, I'm usually the best of my real life friends. I own at LAN party. Than I go online and get killed in 5 seconds.

I like RTS's in theory, but I get brutalized when I try and play them against others. I'm okay against AI opponents, but I'm just not at the level where I feel like having my "actions per minute" measured. Screw that.

RTS, because I don't like to think that much when playing games, just go with the flow, unless the flow involves killing yourself, if so get the fuck away from that shit

Point-and-Click Adventure games!

I am so incomprehensibly shit at them that I can't even complete the simplest tasks without a full walkthrough printed out in front of me. Which sadly means the games lose their appeal because its basically like watching a movie where I have to keep pausing it, reading something, and then doing the right amount of mouse clicks to proceed.

If I could actually play adventure games probably I would LOVE them, some of them have wonderful stories and humor that I rarely get from my preferred genres, yet I crave so much. But sadly whenever I've tried playing them properly I fail miserably at simple "adventure game logic"

FPS. Especially the Call of Duty games. I don't know what happened, really, I used to kick ass at Goldeneye.

There are two I know at suck at, probably more that I won't admit to:

Fighting games, at least ones which have been designed with any kind of complexity or character balance (lookin' at you, Guilty Gear XX^Core+.) I've never quite figured out the nuances of feints or move cancels. I'm pretty good at SMBB, but while I actually like the game I feel it's more "social lubricant" than "fighting game."

Real-Time Strategy: I'm just not enough of a micromultitasker, and I always seen to shore up defenses when I should be attacking and attack when I need the troops at base.

Anything multiplayer, I start off good and wind up getting destroyed, or start off terrible and wind up getting a last minute sprint to barely break even.

RTS. im too busy worrying about my money and less about my army/defenses. i usually cheat or crank down the difficulty.
