Over righting saves in my games, god fucking damn that stings.
Had that happen to me. I recently unlocked 007 mode in Goldeneye back in the day when that game was the shit, I made a new game out of boredom to play it easy mode and I saved over the 007 mode save file. I was so angry I threw the controller pack across the room and it broke.

Needless to say I haven't lived it down with my brothers and they yell "controller pack!" when I get all riled up about something haha.

The ending to Borderlands, the huge monster coming out. I swear i called it too knowing it was being too hyped up about the vault i knew it would be some prison to keep something out. but i didn't expect it to be so bad. Really one of the worst endings ever.

Facepalm to that writer.
wow, you're so nice for spoiling the ending of the game I've been staying up until 5 to make time to play in between my job and my school work for weeks... thank you for putting a spoiler warning so I know not to read.
Is it all that big a deal? The game's fun, the story's god-awfully predictable and the characters are as likeable as a clump of clay. After the 2nd playthrough also, it's kind of pointless to play it anymore. There are far better games and considering there's barely any story, I don't know why it matters that he spoiled it.
I had the ending for Mass Effect II spoiled for me, without expecting it to happen. The guy just blurted it out on the forums and I got suspended for flaming him. How do you think I felt?
Well, that's what happens when you flame...? Just 'cause you felt bad that one time doesn't mean I'm not allowed to this time... I'm just saying, it'd be nice to have a spoiler warning. Other people on this thread have done it, I don't see the problem with wanting it for this too. It matters that he spoiled it because I wanted to actually play the game to find how it ends, not have it thrown at me when I'm barely halfway through. That's not really fair.
I hadn't even started playing the game when I had ME2 ruined for me. Did anything happen to him? No, absolutely nothing. No-one gave a crap that I'd had my most anticipated game of the year ruined before I had even started playing it, and the mods just punished me for being angry at him.
okay, well, that sucks and I get it, but that does not give you the right to belittle the fact that I feel a bit cheated here. Thanks, now why don't we stop spamming this thread and let it be about *facepalm* moments and not debates on whether that was fair or justified or whatever. Wanna argue with me some more, PM. Otherwise, let's be adults and let each other have opinions and emotions, please?

Methinks my biggest facepalm is dealing with boomers in Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2... because I'll shoot the thing right next to me and get splattered in boomer bile... then do it again as soon as the next fat bloke walks into my view... and then do it again. *facepalm* why do I not learn?!

Every single RPG where you want to play a bad guy and yet are somehow shoehorned into "dumbass jerk who screws everyone over to the detriment of himself".

Every single RPG where I want to play a stealth character but a cutscene makes me do a grand entry and stand toe to toe with my foe. Thanks.

Ever single RPG where a naive 5 year old can tell that this or that person is going to betray me, but I must blissfully follow the railroad tracks and be "shocked and amazed" when it happens.

ALL of the dialogue in EVERY Resident Evil Game.
*Staring at a Tyrant"
Chris: "It has to have a weak point, what is it!?"
Me: "THE HUGE HEART, maybe?"

The "master of unlocking", Jill Sandwich, "I hope this isn't Chris's blood" and the list goes on. They all might give you a giggle, but in the end its just *facepalm*

Back in the old days, I played Tombraider a lot. And at moments I wanted to save the game, I accidentilly loaded the game.

When the Eidolons were in fact transformers in FF13.
Same here. Good kind of facepalm, though, since I like pretty much anything that transforms... still, it's pretty weird. I had to laugh when I saw what the Shiva sisters change into... just picture it:
Shiva sisters: "Hey, hot stuff, wanna go for a ride?"
Snow: "HELL YEAH!"
*sisters transform*
Snow: "... Awww man. Figures."
Shiva bike: "... pervert."

Oh yeah, regarding the same game... I don't know if it gets better down the line (I'm at chapter 7 right now), but Vanille's acting and hearing her speak is like having my head mauled by a runaway cheese grater. That's the bad kind of facepalm... who the hell wrote this character, and who casted that voice actor?! Whenever I'm starting to get immersed in the game, Vanille comes along and rapes my senses.

Sean's voice in assassin's Creed II. Sounds exacly like Ricky Gervais. Once I noticed it I just couldn't get it out of my head that one of the plot characters talking in my ear to me is a slightly overweight comedian.

The laughing scene in FFX. That made my skin crawl and balls retract.
This, except the balls thing.
Lucky you, it wasn't a pleasant feeling.
I'd think so. But it was so cringeworthy that it's not even funny anymore and it literally makes me want to shift my skin about from the crawling it most likely did. That's why I typically mute that scene.
I mean there are a few games with embaressing scenes, MGS3 when Snake is talking enthusiasticly about a gun, most dialog in EDF 2017 but that laughing scene takes the piss. I'm sorry but I think that is the first time I've ever walked out on a cutscene, I mean I watched it the first time but for subsequent playthroughs just no.
I think the same thing. I do the same thing whenever that scene comes on, I'd rather just go make a sandwich or something than watch that. I mean, I'd seriously rather sit through all of Metal Gear's cutscenes than watch that piss.
What were they thinking? I understand they were trying to produce a scene to make Tidus and Yuna closer whist dealing with the sadness and troubles of Spira, but it just turned into a complete mess. I mean I have been less embaressed when someone walked in when I watching porn, than if someone caught me watching that scene.
Who knows what they were thinking? I know exactly how you feel and I feel the same. Y'know all that snow on Mt. Gagazet? I think that's the clouds of leftover cocaine that fueled that script writing sequence.
XD I understand they were forcing themselves to laugh to get over all their emo but it was just done really badly, I think the voice actors must of been on the cocaine to record that and then think "Yeah that sounds alright."
I so totally agree with that. It's one of those scenes that makes you go "What, what was that?! Am I missing something?". And, y'know, I'd be looking at them funny too.
I first wondered (hoped) it was just a bad translation and would make more sense in Japanese but I remembered this was not SEGA team translators so I think it is pretty accurate. I mean the dialogue throughout the game is not what I would call particulary inspired or artful but at least it got the message across. All that scene got across was a collective sigh and shudder from the world.

In modern warfare, your character can never seem to make any of the jumps and always has to be pulled up! WTF how did this chop make it into the bad ass special forces in the first place!

In MW 2 Multiplayer. Domination. Classic facepalm moment for me is watching 2 guys near a capture point and not bother to help you and all 3 of you end up getting killed with no capture.

Classic face palm for me.

And, C&C 4. Just all of it... huge fan of it... and see what they done...

Every Star Ocean game besides 2. I played numbah 2 first, and I was incredibly impressed by what I can still more or less claim are fairly original characters for an RPG. I loved it so much I bought Star Ocean 3 despite critical negativity - and I was burned for it.

I bought 4 in hopes that little anything would be a vast improvement over 3. It was, but not by enough that I would be able to give them credit for trying without vomiting blood in absolute disgust.

I played part of the game previous to Star Ocean 2 and it was just....absolute JRPG bullshit.

The community at large when it claimed Dragon Age was both 1) new and original and 2) a good solid return to the roots of the roleplaying genre, of which it was neither.

In Half-Life 2, one of the rebels in my "party" had the same model as Gordon Frohman, from Concerned [http://www.hlcomic.com/index.php?date=2005-05-02]. I figured he'd get us all killed, and predictably enough, he walked right into a hopper mine + explosive barrel trap.
Also in HL2, my entire team of rebels stood still in front of an active turret.

Whenever the hero of any game talks to the villain instead of shooting him in the face. Thankfully, this doesn't always happen. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ShutUpHannibal
