i would say mw2 will most likely win nearly everything but it would have to be assasins creed 2. the first was good and the second looks a hell of a lot better

It only makes sense to split this by platform:

PC: ARMA II
PS3: WipEout HD Fury
Wii: Sin and Punishment 2 (available in Japan)
360: Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony
DS: Scribblenauts
PSP: Half-Minute Hero
iPhone: Doodle Jump

This list, it baffles my mind how incredibly idiotic this list is.

PC: Dragon Age: Origins
PS3: Uncharted 2
Wii: (Kinda hard to tell but if i had to pick, i would go with MadWorld.)
360: Modern Warfare 2 OR Borderlands
DS: Dont own a DS.
PSP: GTA: Chinatown Wars

I know my list isnt probably any better, but it makes a lot more sense that that one.

I'd like to see Batman:AA or Uncharted 2 take the cake , i'd imagine CoD:MW2 would do well as if it was the games destiny. As for my own personal pick,it would be to see Killzone 2 do well.

Arkham Asylum.
But since it can't be made into a GOTY edition like say, Borderlands could, it probably won't be chosen because there's no profit to be had.

Of course it could, they could add a mini story and more challenge maps.

Why do people feel Borderlands is such a good game? It's... one long drawn out grindfest. There's practically no story. The item drops are the only interesting part of the game, and all that amounts to is a cluttered inventory until you realise the next awesome gun is five minutes away. I'm enjoying playing it, but the game of the year? I know it's been a slow year, but come on!

Something with a decent narrative for GOTY, please.

Really I can think of a few that have if I'm honest. Or are you merely stating your personal opinion that you feel a game that can reach a wider audience is more deserving since it provides more entertainment for more people?

OT; I'd actually say Uncharted 2 as this point. I don't even have a ps3, although one of my mates has got boderlands and he raves about that so it could all change when I finally get to play it

well i dont have a 360 or wii, but i'm sure Left 4 Dead 2 would be my fav if i had xbox. no idea about wii or PC game of year, since the only PC game i bought this year was Sims 3. As for DS, i only got mario kart but i think that came out a while ago.
I did want to play half-minute hero for PSP, i still havent uploaded the demo though. Dissidia is Great but i don't think its a game of the year.

Honestly there has been no game I have REALLY enjoyed but there is only assassins creed 2 and zelda spirt tracks left on what to buy this year. I'll decide then what is game of the year for me. Funny how most of the replies in this thread are games that are coming out in Q4. (Wonder why?)

My GotY goes to Cryostasis, though I know it won't win it.

If we're doing our personal GOTY here, mine is definitely Cryostasis. I liked Uncharted 2 or Arkham Asylum, but I didn't love either. Obviously I haven't gotten my hands on Assassin's Creed 2 or MW2, but spoiler alert: I didn't like the first of either game. Dragon Age probably is the closest mainstream game to Cryostasis for me, but I haven't even come close to finishing it, so I'll hold my judgement.

... That is my personal GOTY, like I said. If I was to make a prediction, it would be Uncharted 2. Borderlands most certainly won't win at any of the major sites, nor will any of the handheld or indie games (or any lesser-known game, for that matter... *points at avatar*), so I'd imagine that it boils down to Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2 or Modern Warfare... 2.
