GAME OVER Screens

when I was little the Donkey Kong Country 3 (the one with Diddy and the girl) game over scared the crap out of me.

Also, death screen in Too Human? I played the demo and watched some vids... dont you just res all the time? can ressing really be called a "Game over" Screen?

I keep meaning to get that game because I'd probably love it, based on the demo(except thumbstick controls.. I HATE thumbstick combat...), but half the people I know tell me it wasnt worth it. Is anyone that has it able to tell me if it was as much fun as the demo was?

my favorite are the scarecrow death scenes

but i really hate the ones that say stuff like "you just died" or "you were killed by a grenade"

in case you havent noticed i was talking about Resident Evil and CoD4 death scenes

so what are your favorite and most hated Game Over screens

Lol, I thought it was just me. I always find the SORRY, YOU HAVE DIED! screens so bloody obnoxious.

I think Too Human's death "screen" holds a special place in the annals of terrible game design.

Did you actually play the game or are you just taking your info from all the reviewers that just jumped on that? (ZP) It really isn't that long. That game does have a lot of flaws, but the death sequence isn't that bad.

Yes, I did, but I never got to the death animation because I stopped playing very quickly.

It is ok, because he is apparently on some government hit list because he is defending it.
I don't even know if I finished the demo before I almost gouged out my eyes, and had to play something better, like BioShock.

I'm not a fan of death screens (who is?), but I love the old games that taunted you for leaving the game, like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64. The death screens that I hate the most are the classic Resident Evil screens because I saw them too bloody often. F-ck Nemesis!

Despite the fact that it's not a 'game over screen' per-se, I dislike Fable 2's intensely. When I read that I've lost however much experience because I've been knocked down, it feels like the game is laughing in my face.

Oh boy, the greatest ever, how could a cute game like this have such a great and controversial game over screen? The action cuts to an office desk upon which there is a framed photo of a family, silhouetted in the glass is the image of the theme park owner jumping to their death due to bankruptcy. Sinister and humourous, the greatest of all time. No chance of the creators getting away with this today.

Also i like some of the resident evil deaths with it shows you been britally being dismembered

O and Team fortures when it shows you the guy who killed you and there is a bit of you in the screen

Fallout 3 has some pretty epic ways to die.
My favorite was jumping off the ledge in TennyPenny tower and shooting the MIRV right before you hit the ground.
Oh, it is such fun.

In the PS1 Resident Evil, the phrase "you died," actually looked like it read, "You Pied." It was the blood trail on the uppercase "D" that did it.

An old ps1 game... back when 3D modeling was new stuff. It was a sequal to an SNES game... "Out of the World" or something. Anyway, it was among the launch titles (or close to it) for the ps1. Depending on HOW you died, you got a quick scenematic of the guys death. Shot by a lazer? Step on an electrified floor panel? Get melee'd on? Falling? They all had a unique way of dying. My friend of the time would take turns playing the game. And if there was a point that we thought there might be a new way to die, we'd offer each other up the chance of dying without giving up their turn. Just to see what the death looked like.

Ninja'd. Yea, i got pissed off at the Fat man death scenes cause i didn't know how to kill em (i know now) Or the giant tentacles... that one where it fools you into thinking your going to live and them it kills ya made me jump outta my skin.

COD WaW's 'you got killed by a grenade, look for the indicator' pissed me off more than number 4's... cause COD 4 had good quotes with it sometimes.. and WaW had the enemies spam your position with them, its pretty hard to not die and miss the indicators..

My problem with that is the game assumes you're a fucktard who doesn't know what the grenade indicators mean. It never assumes that maybe you were surrounded by grenades and one blew up in your hand while you were throwing it back.

Gotta agree with u on batman, although personally, I think the Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy death screens are better.

Deadspace has good deaths as well, like getting ur head punched off by a wall mounted dudes stomach tentacle.

Favourite has to be from the new Prince of Persia, just because they're so mercifully short. You just see Elika grab you, and then you can continue playing.

Least favourite... I 'unno really, Mass Effect or Condemned, maybe. Because in both of those games, you go through most of the game never dying, but when you do die, you're likely to die fifteen more times to the same group of enemies. And then you want to stab whoever wrote that CRITICAL MISSION FAILURE OH GOD YOU SUCK MATE text.

crash bandicoots death scenes were awesome but if your going old school sonics death scenes especially when he drowned the music was evil.Still haunts me to this day.
