and the xbox was pretty gay. now i own a 360 though.
Anyone who owned a Gamecube, and endeavoured to buy the best games for it, would be in no position to hate on it. A stunning library of games, many of which could claim to be among the greatest of all time was housed on that system! Not only that, but the controller was awesome, it was graphically stunning at times (who's jaw didn't drop when they saw Rogue Leader for the first time?) and also got definitive versions of several multi platform releases, such as Killer7 and Resident Evil 4 (yeah, I know the PS2 version had that extra Ada Wong thing, but it didn't make up for the technical superiority on the GC version).
The gamecube was panned because it has the same problem as the wii: lots of bad bad games overshadowing the great ones and limited 3rd party support. now, some epic games on gamecube? Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Super Smash Bros Melee. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (lets be honest guys, it was a gamecube game that they slapped on the wii), and to be honest, I really enjoyed Star Fox adventures. Now, it shouldnt have been made into a starfox game, and the arwing sections were atrocious. but it was a nice fun platformer. Also, Super Mario Sunshine was a good game. IS fludd annoying? yes! but it was still fun.

Everyone was to busy wanking off Sony and Microsoft to notice shit. Really, as much as I loved my PS2 and Xbox, I always have a special place in my heart for that little purple lunchbox of a game console. :3

But in all honesty, the only thing I didn't like about the GameCube was that for the most part the third-party games ported on it were inferior to the PS2 ports. There were some obvious exceptions (RE4 comes to mind), but the third-party offerings were weak.
I never owned a GameCube, but played some of the games and hung out with a lot of Smash players in college. I won a Wii two years ago and have using that to catch up on what I missed on the Cube.
Not bad and not the best console, but I am still envious of all the fun games it had like Super Smash Brothers Melee, Mario Kart Double Dash and of course a few Mario Party games (cant remember the numbers exactly) ... now those were good times playing with a bunch of friends back then.
