No, it's all subjective. I mean, I have gamer friends that have shitty tastes in music, in my opinion, though not the usual type of 'shitty' music but more like shoegaze and really really boring new age or even noise rock. I honestly dont understand it.

Thinking of only the five closest gaming friends I know, we cover just about every genre I can think of and several I didn't know exist.

Conclusion. All music is in terrible taste.

I don't think so because most of my gamer friends are in to many different kinds of music. For the most part I don't like their music taste (they like K, J and regular pop crap) but they do have some good artists.

Nope. Although I'm an unfair example. I listen to LOTS of different bands, some of which I found through gaming, others I just like. Some of my music is "shit" according to my friends, despite it actually being awesome and the problem being something to do with their ears. Those same friends do like other bands I listen to so..

I've never heard this stereotype before, but I have tried to imagine what gaming music sounds like, and it's very hard to nail that down.
On one hand, you have 8-bit artists like Prototype Raptor, and also nerdcore, like Dragonforce.
I'm not a fan of metal, personally, so if you associate the obnoxious shriekers online with hardcore and metal, I may see where you're coming from. However, I listen to an incredibly large array of music, and I play it while I game sometimes.

One experience that comes to mind is setting up playlists for different areas in WoW. I remember having The Chieftains playing as the sun goes down in Westfall.

I've never even seen that stereotype. 'Cept maybe from people who assume video game soundtracks suck, in which case screw them for their blinding ignorance. So... yeah, I don't even know where that came from.

I would say yes they do.

But its subjective, my music taste is totally different to most of the gaming demographic so of course I'm gonna say yes.

There is no real answer to your question.

While were on the topic of pulling stereotypes out of our asses, I'll make one up too. All gamers are terrible cooks. I've heard it more often then gamers have bad taste in music.

NOTE: Please read the OP and don't just read the title and assume I'm ignorant.
I don't know if someone pointed this out yet, but, you do realize that the only people that will read this are people that are reading the OP in the first place.

Well, I mainly listen to the more extreme end of metal with some dubstep and other more extreme forms of electronic music. So...yeah, most people would say I have terrible taste, but...I don't care. Taste is subjective. And this thread is just a breeding ground for arguments.

What is a "bad" sense of music?
Black Eyed Peas, people who legitimately like Friday, and people who make Friday parodies.

OT: Sorry, musical taste IS subjective.
