Most of the people who frequent my favourite CS server are over 30, and many who play MMORPGS are too.

i don't know why 30+ people even game.

there are so much greater things to do. i'm 16 and in Holland that means NO DRIVING!(we are allowed to drink though)

but not being allowed to go long distances without involving my mom or the train, really bothersome.
Uh, because gaming is a lot of fun? What, I can drive, so suddenly I should stop enjoying games? That makes no sense.
Because video games are toys, and adults shouldn't play with toys. At least, that's a view I seem to sense with many people.
Oh, yeah, I get that a lot, but I stopped caring a while ago. I work very hard at my job, which means I get to spend my free time as I see fit. If that means I want to play with toys, that's my business. (Not that I consider games toys, of course, but you get my drift.)
I don't consider them toys either, but I've gotten the general impression that they're held in the same regard as conventions: an affair for NYEEERRRRRDS, not well-developed, social people. Granted, I've seen some twits at conventions, but I've seen so many more twits at a college and military level.

-Addendum- Also, you're clearly a grown adult, so I would pray that the years have given you the capability of knowing how to not give a shit. Many people under 16, or even 25, have yet to acquire that ability.

When you grow up you'll realise that adults like to have fun too.

I'm 29 and game most days. I hope I'm still doing it when I'm 80.

33.

Been gaming since hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy text based adventure. I game because i can, it's fun and it's something for me.

I'll play anything but the story is king for me, (unless it's a quiz game, i love sceneit) Fable can suck balls with it's generic kack, but i loved bioshock, second sight, and i did even enjoy huge portions of Mass Effect.

Looking forward to Screed 2.

I'm 26 and have been at it since I was about 4-5 so I can't see me not gaming. My dad got me into gaming with his Amiga 500+ and he still plays games and he is 50ish and has been playing since Pong, which I believe was in the 70's.

What??????? Toys come in many shapes and forms and adults should be made to play!

32 next Monday, I play mostly RPG or turn based strategy games (Civ etc.)

As to why I (still) game? It's fun, it's better entertainment than television, and it takes no more time than I want to spend on in (as opposed to "going somewhere" every night)

Ten year olds make games? ZUH?!
Ten-year-olds-at-heart, perhaps. That would explain why they're so derivative.

Well, no, having experimented with it myself, the reason why they're so derivative is that coming up with new game concepts that work is hard. Even getting game concepts that work replicated correctly is no walk in the park - in 9/10 clones, my real complaint is probably that they didn't understand what was good about what they were cloning.

yes they do in fact... hide and seek, tag, and pick on the fat kid, to name a few.... they may not know the technology but might get a job as a story writer.... or art, or graphics, or dialoge........ or CEO of Nintendo. Doesn't take a scientist to order people to remake a game for the 50th time.

32 here and yes it is the RPG's that have the most attraction. As well as a few lighter simulators (Railroad Tycoon II, B17: Flying Fortress, Silent Hunter II, TIE Fighter, Tachyon and Crimson Skies).

I haven't got around to get DA:O yet, but it is on my list.

There you go. Right there. Any and all introverted tasks are essentially viewed as being necessary for people with lack of social skills, a weakness in the gestalt's eyes. It's been evolutionary ingrained into our psyches to ostracize parties who jeopardize our group's future, either through their incapability or threat to a working status quo.
