Games becoming too short?

I have to agree with you. Games are becoming shorter in favour of multi-player, side quests and visuals. What developers fail to realise is that some people don't care about multi-player and side quests are not a time waster (Peter Molyneux, I hope you're reading that last bit).

In a real RPG like Oblivion, there are many more meaningful quests to do after the main quest. In Fable2, I already got all the gargoyles, whats the point of assassination missions when there is nothing to make money for? I already bought all the houses, but again what is the point when there is nothing to make money for? I finished the demon doors within a half hour of finishing the game, I finished the side quests within a week, found all the keys. Oblivion I have played for 150+ hrs and I still can find stuff to do. To get almost all achievements in an "RPG" like Fable 2 supposedly is in a week, to me, is much to short. Worth a rental, but easily finish everything in a week.
Oblivion? Meaningful? 90% of Oblivion is made up of disconnected sidequests, and there's no point in getting money in that game either because there's barely anything for sale. You can beat the game at something like level 5. Fable II at least did things like making sidequests important by requiring your to have X amount of renown in order to continue the game.

I am in agreement, im starting to see no point in buying games anymore, the last 3 games I bought (dead space, RE5, Resistance 2) I had finished the campaign in the same amount of time i would have if i had merely rented it.

Multilayer inst really an issue for me, as i have a gaming pc, and console multi player feels slow, the controls are sloppy, and the graphics are worse.
BUt those three games are very, very replayable, at least for me they were. I think I went through Dead Space 3 times on one rental.

Also, the main thing I do online is help people with the Resident Evil 5 achievements, if you want help don't hesitate to ask >_>.
My point exact, "3 times on one rental"

Makes me feel like buying games is an obsolete custom.

Strongly disagree all the games I have played recently have either been ludicrously long (i.e. Fallout 3 andGTA4) or exactly the right length (i.e. Bioshock and MGS4 although I would have liked it to be longer but thats just because I love MGS and didn't wnt it to end:( )

Its irrelevant what level you can beat the game at, you are not supposed to rush through it! An RPG is supposed to build a character, get good equipment and play at your own pace. Not just play through the game. It is supposed to be and RPG and it is too short considering the fact that it is supposedly an RPG.

As for speeding through games I call that being a *****, Ive seen a video where someone beats the main story in oblvion in 8 min, thats impressive, but its hardly the way to play
what?? i'm going to have to look that up
I might be exagerating a little bit on the time, it may have been under 15 mins or something, but thats still impressive, but he uses the paintbrush tick and lots of tricks but no MODS
Slightly off topic. As far as I know, Fallout 1 can be completed in around 10 minutes. No tricks, except that you need to have a character with high charisma to talk your way though obstacles and know what to do and where to go in advance. That of course ruins the whole POINT of the game. F1 wasn't an extremely long game though, to finish it normally you'd need 13 hours or so, depending on your style. F2 was significantly longer and more developed.
F3 is perhaps even longer counting side quests, but a lot simpler really.
