Mario. I really don't understand his CULT following.
A cult? I don't think you can call it that when millions of people have played it.

Anyway, i really hated ICO, i mean i really did... maybe it was because i was only 7 XD. oh yes and i can't forget elder scrolls IV: oblivion, I thought Fallout 3 was great but i never liked elder scrolls.

half life 2 and subsequent sequels - poor lighting, terrible driving controls, no aim-down-sight, bad physics, bad sfx, and it just feels like youre not controlling a person so much as just a hovering camera with a gun attached

half life 1 was good though

Half life
I seriously feel the need to reply to such a post..
In the same way ocarina of time was original when it came out and introduced some never-before seen/done mechanics and storytelling and whatnot, Half life 1 was to first person shooters a completely different take. it was the first shooter in which you could feel immersed and the game itself was unfolding the story with scenes that convinced you of the world that you tore apart when you've put that crystal in the beam.

before half life 1, shooters were all monsters, guns, ammo.. and sometimes tits (duke nukem) and any hints of story were through either the booklet that came in the box or some cheezy cutscene.
hl had scripts.. loads of'em.

trouble with half life 2 is that it stepped away from that and it was made more like show and tell instead of storygrip. + you've seen every innovative element in the trailers that just showed you the entire game before release rly..

edit: tldr: unless you could become a gamer from 1998 and have the same feeling that compelled you to awe at the exciting quality and innovation behind the memorable games that came out at the turn of the century.. OFC you don't get it.. and you never will. + most game genres are an acquired taste

Never understood the whole Counter-Strike culture.
What culture?
The games good though.

Hmm, let me see.

Street Fighter.
Whats with the Street Fighter hate? x-x

But I guess for me...uhh..Dragon Age??

I mean, I was looking forward to it, and it was fun for a short while but then everything just became a hassle, and the whole roleplaying and everything started to fade after apparently doing something that the other character takes kindly to got me negative points towards him.

I'm gonna shake my fist angrily at Oblivion as well.
I have tried and tried and tried and TRIED to like this game. Uninstalled and reinstalled in periodically ever since it was released. I have created dozens and dozens of different characters all playing in different styles. Done different quests, helped people, gone on killing sprees, achieved high levels, finished the main story, spent hours organizing a house. I spent hours and hours downloading mod after mod, mods that easily overshadow anything the vanilla game has to offer, adding little bit after little bit and still the game is just unbearable shallow to me.

Halo, TF2, MW2.

On the opposite side of things, Dirge of Cerberus. Everyone said that game sucked and was horrible but I enjoyed it a lot.

Fallout 1 and 2, though I'm pretty sure posting this will start a flame war.
I agree, I don't see the appeal in that type of game.

Team Fortress and Half Life games, just seem like any other shooters to me
yep, my views are the same. I don't understand why people treat the games like gods...

I don't understand the appeal of...

Halo
Guitar Hero (or any of it's clones)
Call of Duty (or any other modern war shooters)
Portal
Minecraft
Grand Theft Auto
Modern Mario Games
Most Zelda Games
I don't get the appeal of WoW (at least not until after I played it for A month... on my friends account)
or SSBB

EDIT: And every ONE of those I can name a better game of the same genere

most competitive games, MW in perticular: i dont see the appeal of playing a game when your always pissed at it.

fallout 3: i dont see the appeal of an exploration centered game when all you are exploring is a dull grey nuclear wasteland. gimme some fucking color

sports games/ guitar hero: why do that when you can do the same in reality? i play games to do something i cannot do, like loot peasents houses and shoot deamons with a freezing crossbow. racing is exempt from this reasoning because it is rathr difficult to do racing in reality and not get in really deep shit
