Games Least Deserving Of Their "M" Rating?

The ESRB really isn't doing a very good job explaining the ratings system if this many people don't understand what constitutes an M rating.

Stop saying Oblivion, please. The console command that makes female character topless was only part of the reason why it was reclassified. Drug use (skooma), the strung up corpses that litter the planes of Oblivion, the Dark Brotherhood storyline where there was a naked and badly mutilated corpse strung up, and there's also a couple of times where you can carry body parts around in your inventory. It earned the M rating.

As for the Halo games, I agree that they probably shouldn't get an M rating. The swearing as at prime time television level, the blood and violence isn't excessive, and the gore is practically non-existent. The only reason I can think of why it might have been rated M is being able to dismember the Flood.

Well, the planes of Oblivion are basically Hell, in which case what do they expect from a place like Hell? Unicorns and gardens?
I don't know if you were thinking of this when you posted that, but there are unicorns and gardens in Cyrodill. Well, a unicorn. :D
The topless thing was a user-made mod. It wasn't in the game, it was added by modders.
And the only body part I remember carrying in that game was a finger. Although I carried a few bones.
The naked strung up body and description from the people about "bathing in his entrails" or something was pretty, uh, interesting to say the least.

And I forgot about the unicorn when I wrote that, I guess I'm just that awsome ;)

Personally, I think Left 4 Dead should be a 15 rather than an 18, but that's just me.
Considering they say: (sh*t, damn, hell, bastard, SoB,)
Have zombies that claw your chest open with their hands covered in your blood.
Have limbs that can fly off when shot.
Blood splatters on your face when your close enough.
Puddle of blood soaks the ground when you die.
And the ability to kill off mankind.

But I see where your going with that. Seeing as how they don't say it every 5 seconds and the gore effects aren't that bad.

This should be a somewhat in between T - M.

Just my 2 cents.

Halo 3 is kind of an obvious one. The M rating obviously doesn't stop the 8 year olds from getting it anyway.

CoD: WaW for the Wii. there's only cursing for the tutorial level, and the blood never looks real.
