Bioshock probably since it might have "A reference" to drug use either that or the poeple are insane. No nudity or violence here. (I think)
Speaking as someone who owns Fallout 3 and TF2, I feel that Bioshock is the most disturbing game I've ever played. Even if the violence isn't really "graphic," the context is so dark and brutal that I think it would warrant an M rating even without the constant swearing and sexual themes.

Oh, and also you can kill kids.
bioshock is probably the most metal and brutal game ever.(on consoles, because i dont care if theres a pc game made by a developer no one cares about that has actual people killed in it, thats called real life)

OT: Halo 3, the entire population playing it is less than 10 years old so if it was rated teen it wouldnt change it that much

Oblivion used to be a T rating, which is 13+

I guess it depends what country you live in.
Hmm. We go: 3+, 7+, 12+, 15+/16+ and 18.

I didn't know Oblivion got reclassified. That's good to know.

OT:I have to agree with Red Faction.

I got oblivion on release day and it was rated T and I live in North America >_>

Halo had little blood but apparently cursing even a little bit equals M rating.

Halo 3 and Red Faction Guerilla come to mind when I think about this, but are there any other M rated games that you thought didn't deserve that rating?

EDIT: The "M" rating refers to the 17+ rating in America. I obviously didn't make this clear enough.
Mass Effect, very limited blood, highly stylised violence, very tastefully done limited sexual content. Should easily have gotten away with T, got M because some censors got into the sex-hype machine or gay-hate machine rather than using their brains.
There's far more explicit stuff on the average commercial break, let alone normal TV shows.

I would have to say Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The only time you see blood in that game is when you score a headshot and their brains splatter on the wall behind them. In Call of Duty: World at War, by contrast, you can blow arms and legs off and in the most extreme case of dismemberment, you can blow away part of their chest and look into their rib-cage in glorious gory detail, especially in HD.
I hear one factor for films at least is that what changes a PG-13 movie to an R-rated is if it includes headshots with blood squib. I mean Iron Man was PG-13 and a terrorist somehow managed to shoot himself in the head with a ricochet bullet, yet there was not a drop of blood, just the head whip back and some smoke. The BBFC (UK censors) seem most concerned about graphic head shots as well as they are obliged to explain every censorship decision they make.

Well that just shows how movies standards work yet so many games with no blood from gunshot wounds find them self with the equivalent of R-rating. Maybe it is the interactivity factor? Maybe it is the idiot conservatives that rate these games? Maybe they just want less 13 year old dickheads on Xbox Live?

I'd have to say Far Cry 2 on that one. It swears about twice and when you shoot someone there is so little blood you have to squint to see it. It should in my opinion be a 15+.

If I said God of War who would agree with me? /sarcasm

Red Faction should not have been rated M. I guess the ERSB was afraid of kids going out and trying to blow stuff up. Or at least blame the game for the fact that there pyromaniacs.

Assians Creed hardly deserved an M rating. "There was blood! Lots of blood." You can turn it off in the options menu! The only other reason would be the rare swear you would hear now and again.

Red Faction for sure, I don't think large buildings have feelings. And you only kill a few bad guys when they collapse....And they're PMCs! Doesn't everybody hate those nowadays? Haha.

I'm gonna go with Halo 1. Sure, every now and then you find some dead guys in puddles of blood, but it looks more like they fell asleep having Kool-Aid parties.

Mass Effect. Seriously, a game rated 12 in the UK gets an M in the US for half an ass and a bit of sideboob.

Grow the fuck up, ESRB!

I gotta go with Halo 3. Just because it is a FPS doesn't make it an automatic M and that seems to be what happened with Halo. You are shooting unreal guns at unreal enemies. And if you put in the Pinata skull I say lower it down to E10. I find myself questioning why some of these E10s are not just E for all.

Halo 3 and Oblivion.

From what I remember, Oblivion was only rated M because of nude mods and something to do with the Dark Brotherhood questline.
Mine's a 16+... where are you getting that from?
In the U.S. where I live M ratings are 17+
Oblivion used to be a T rating, which is 13+

I own an old version of Oblivion that still has the T rating on it.

the m rating doesn't stop kids from playing them , but alot of games have violence or bad things in them that make ratings pointless , as for games that don't need an m rating ... mercs2 , fallout 3 , cod 4 but hey im old enough that ratings mean nothing , and would buy m rated games for a kid and hey at least it aint booze or smokes so don't ***** at me ,they see worse shit everywhere anyway especially online and tv
Fallout 3 doesn't deserve an M rating? The same Fallout 3 where you BLOW PEOPLE'S LIMBS OFF? The same Fallout 3 where you take drugs, buy hookers, capture slaves, and other assorted things? That is surely an M rating.
OT: Battlefield 1943 [I believe it got an M rating]. There is rarely any spoken dialog by the characters, and the violence isn't gory. Or, Battlefield: Bad Company [I think that one is M, too]. All it is is swearing and violence :p
Uhhh.... Mercs 2 and Battlefield BC are both rated T. I Just had to say that.
Edit: Sorry for double-posting
