I don't think I've ever played anything that NO ONE ELSE WILL REMEMBER, but one that I really liked but I have never ever ever ever seen mentioned anywhere or by anyone:

Mischief Makers for the 64
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mischief_Makers
I have that game lol. Hardcore Gaming 101, a great site btw, has an article about it.

OT:I a good number of people know about Ristar, especially with it's rerelease in Genesis compilations. But no one I have talked to in person has ever heard of it. Rocket Knight Adventures may fit the bill as well.

Future Cop L.A.P.D on the PS1.

Anyone heard of that?
Yes I have. Played it even.

Ever heard of Apocalypse (with Bruce Willis)? Or Vagrant Story?

XIII (NOT the final fantasy) and of course Still Life (the point click adventure which sucks cuz now there's no sequel x( )
Man, I loved XIII. I still play it at least once a year. I could never resist the awesome comicy graphics.
And freakin' David Duchovny <3

I'm probably one of the few that played Starshot Space Circus Fever and actually liked it. I really regret selling it.

hmm lets see, commander keen I suppose, you can still find it pretty easy but Ive never heard anyone else talk about it
Damn, you stole my answer.

Commander Keen...

Hocus Pocus. Aha! Bet you've never heard of that.
Hocus Pocus! thats what it was called! i remember that game, frikking awesome... i also played another PC game when i was a kid, it was one about you being a child suffering from nightmares, and this ghost (i think it was a ghost) kid befriends you and helps you overcome your fear of this nightmare. stupid thing was, it made you draw your own "nightmare" so mine was always a tonne of squiggles

Battle Cheese man...

Its basically a computer game version of Risk but entirely cheese themed, with things like limburger bombs and gouda guns.

It was a fun little game 15 or so years ago.

I liked the PS2 tactical RPG 'Ring of Red' and 'Ghost in the Shell' and 'Vandal Hearts 2' on the PS1. I'm really rather annoyed that the DS Vandal Hearts game fell through (apparently; it was initially announced even before the DS came out and there's been no word since). Also 'Hybrid Heaven' on the N64, a unique action/RPG 'hybrid' of a game about an alien conspiracy to conquer the world, with one of the best plot twists I've ever seen.

No Idea what it was called. But you were a giant robot and you could trash cities. It was on the 64.
'Blast Corps'. A game which, to this day, STILL has not been properly categorised into a genre.

I'm not sure whether its a good or bad thing that I've heard of most of these games from when they first came out.

Sounds like Blast Corp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blast_Corps) Another of those games where a next gen remake would be awesome.

Commander Keen got me through my high school keyboarding classes, since I went in already typing 60 wpm, thanks to my typewriter and a love of writing short stories, and my teacher let me do whatever I wanted. So many good memories.
Anyone who was into PC gaming in the early 90s know Commander Keen. I just remember it being a pain in the arse.

Knuckles' Chaotix for the Sega 32x. It remains my favorite game over. Then again I haven't played it in years so I may be idolizing it a little.
I remember entering a competition when I was younger to try and win a Mega Drive, 32X and that game. Only managed to get a T-Shirt though :(

I can't remember the names, but I used to have a load of random shareware/free DOS games when I was growing up. Anyone else remember Marble Madness? That was fun.

Edit:

Sacred. A pretty good Diablo clone.
That game was buggy as hell, but I enjoyed it.

I'd say Trace Memory. I spent days and days with my best friend trying to beat that game, and now she doesn't even remember what the hell it is. Not to mention it was actually a halfway decent game.

I still play Marble Madness.

It was an arcade classic and all. Of course, kids these days probably wouldn't recognize an arcade from my day.

OT: I don't know many people who played War of the Lance.

WotL? I don't know if there was a NES version. I played the C64 version until the disk disintegrated from wear.
