If it comes out this year, then Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. Episode 1 was such a disappointment compared to 1, 2, 3&K, and CD. Other than that, I'm not to sure.

I have very pretty standards for Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 after the two previous games in their respective series weren't nearly as good as the ones before that.
Especially Skyrim, after that shittiness that was Oblivion.

I'm shaking my head at you in utter disappointment. Remember the last time someone doubted Bethesda?

BOOM
Huge case of YMMV. Fallout 3 had a lot of issues with it, like that very long character creation process. Oh, not to mention Point Lookout being utterly full of fake difficulty.
Ironically Point Lookout was one of the better DLC`s. Zeta was half-baked shit.
True, as it stripped you of your equipment. However, the whole idea of somewhat-mutated swamp rednecks being deadlier with overalls, shovels, and old break-action shotguns than power armor wearing, plasma weapon toting enclave soldiers was very bad. The whole reason for difficulty was bethesda wanted people to be afraid of a mysterious, lovecraftian enemy. Nothing lovecraftian about any of that, and the 'boss' of point lookout was anything but cthulhu-inspired.

The reason that Zeta sucked wasnt the limitations, it was that they wasted their potential.
Maybe im just weird, but I remember fearing the aliens in F1 and F2. They would hand your ass to you, but now they cant take a shot to the face.
Wow. Thanks for forcing me to remember those things. Might as well make me remember the Deathclaw random encounter in Fallout 1 or running into a small pack of Deathclaws on my way to Navarro when doing the infamous Navarro run. Sheesh.

Seriously would it hurt to have just a little optimism?....or at least a little perspective

Portal could easily turn out meh (but I'm one of those crazy people who didn't enjoy the first portal because as soon as it started being fun it ended).
Duke Nukem at this point wouldn't surprise anyone by being tremendously mediocre.
And I'm sure Dragon Age II will continue the standard of overwhelming mediocrity of the first.
DCU online will fail swiftly and without a doubt, as will all MMORPG's that fail to actually significantly change the formula.
Infamous and Prototype 2 will certainly be worth ignoring all together.

Most games tend to be more mediocre than suckish. Even FPS basher have to recognize that, even if they don't enjoy them, very few modern FPS's are bad. They tend to just kind of be... meh.

Mass Effect 3 will be a blast, for me personally atleast, and let us not forget the joy that will (hopefully) be Bioshock infinite.

yeah but overall it was VERY well recieved, it basivally took everything good about oblivion and improved it while fixing some of oblivions faults AND it had a setting a milllion times more interesting that standard fantasy setting type A (I hated Oblivion but Loved Fallout)

and by charachter creation process do you mean your time growing up in the vault? I thourght that was awosme, it actually gave you a sense of charachter (instead of being a walking camera like in oblivion, main reason I didnt liek that game) plus it helped with emotional attachment to your dad and made leaving the vault have more impact , ok and the morality was a little skewed, but it worked if you wee being good I supose

but the main problem with the game was the original ending, basically if you were good you got a slap in the face, while I don't think all endings have to be happy you deserved better than that in a game that was depressing enough start to finish

but with all the DLC it makes for a very enjoyable game, but I will say even after you finish everything and broken steel you didnt quite get that sense of closure, you just kind of had to stop playing

For some reason I can't shake the nagging suspicion that Skyrim really isn't going to be that good.

Skyrim will most likely have all the same mistakes Oblivion and Fallout 3 had. Forcing you to fight for the good guys, actually having a "good vs evil" plot and more than likely crappy dialogue.
And yet they won GOTY hands down. Because people LOVED it. And from what I read, they fixed the concerns you mention. Except the good vs evil thing, but honestly it's their story.
What good is GOTY, Betehsda games are just like the Call of Duty franchise, they're successful just because of the name and developer. If a game says "The Elder Scrolls" or "Call of Duty" in front of it, people will buy it and it will be successful. Awards mean nothing, and neither do reviews, they're just opinions from a single person or a group of people.

They're are many people, and I do mean many who hated Fallout 3 because of how much it fucked with the Fallout lore and characters. The writing was bad, the story was bland and stupid and there were so many black and white moral choices. Same goes for Oblivion which had one of the worst main quests I've ever played, the second half was basically doing the same thing over and over again.

Morrowind was better than Fallout 3 and Oblivion and if Skyrim is Morrowind with all the major problems Morrowind had fixed, then it will be good. But I doubt it considering that Bethesda get awards for bing worse than Morrowind they will continue to be worse than Morrowind.*sigh*
So I take it you doubt anyone can play Oblivion or Fallout 3 and enjoy them, even think of them as good? And become interested in the rest of the series because of them? Sadly, your opinions are not held by everyone or even the majority. You don't like it, does not make it bad.

I was like "too far" when they showed the skeleton with the birthday hat that said "mom".
It was like "LOL lowblow"
yeah, and the bodies in the water...I could understand Amata or elder lyons but I always wondered why was moira brown there? did the PC actually like her I supose?

Modern Warfare 3.

*Gets flame shield*
lower thy flame shield good sir, there's a rumor that it'll star Ghost... what, that Gaz wannabee that had maybe 5 lines and then died? the multiplayer will probably be the same ol schtuff (if you like it, youll like it, if you dont, you wont) but the story will suck bawlz.

OT: hm... idk... I'm gonna wager... possible TellTale's Jurassic Park game... idk, this is subject to change... it's doing the Heavy Rain thing where it's all one big QTE... but it depends on how they implement combat... I'll have to see, but it probably wont ENTIRELY suck... looks like a good year tbh, we got Homefront, Bulletstorm, Duke Nukem, Pokemon, Portal 2, Batman, and everything on the 3DS

EDIT: I thought a bit longer and the first thing I thought of when I thought of "upcoming shitty games"was Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime... well yeah, now that My Garden was cancelled

bulletstorm, i think it'll get boring very easily.

either that or the campaign will be too short, so the only people going to get alot of gameplay are the ones challenging for leaderboards.

saying all this though, i still want to pre order it :)

I gotta say I'm pretty worried about Dragon Age 2. For me the gameplay stuff they've shown so far doesn't look to good.
