There are two that stand out for me;

World of Warcraft: (admittedly I've never played it) I have never understood MMORPGs, I think it's too easy to spend stupid amounts of time on them, they're repetitive and they can be detrimental to one's health and social life. That and it's repetitive.

Oblivion: Now I like a good WRPG as good as the next guy, (I have even enjoyed JRPGs in the past and if that breeds the response I have come to expect then let me remind that technically Pokemon is a JRPG and that is the game that brought probably ever gamer I know into gaming. Stick that in your snorlax and smoke it) but I played Oblivion for about 4 hours, and besides being lost, bored and everything else - I had no idea what the plot was. I agree with the view that if the gameplay makes up for it story can often be ignored for the fun, but I wasn't having fun either.

modern warfare 2. I tried it and just didn't like it. Then I went on forums and looked at 1 about people arguing about how it was not good for pc, and there were people trying to argue that pc gaming is dead! Are heavy console gamers usually this dense?

Oh god, where do I start?

Halo, Grand Theft Auto 4, the entire Call of Duty series, all the Final Fantasy series, all of the Battlefield games since BF1942, all of the Elder Scrolls series, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead 2, ALL of the Blizzard RTS games (including SC2), World of Warcraft, EVE Online, Gears of War series, the entire "rhythm" genre (DDR, Guitar Hero, Rock Band), every Bioware game, Pokemon in its entirety, Soul Caliber series, Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat series, God of War series, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry series, Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed series, The Sims series...

I could go on.

wow a LOT of you people waste a lot of money on games you don't like ffs seriously people, read up on games and wait a while before you buy
Sometimes it all comes down to personal taste though. I'd never have known that I wouldn't like Medal of Honor: Airborne, because the description seems like a great game. I can't even pinpoint the exact reason why I dislike it.
reading the back isn't really "reading up on it"
but then again my brother will buy anything with the Atlus name on it, so i guess i don't like Phantom Brave and most of their games besides disgaea.

I'd say there are quite a few picky folks on this site. I see a lot of words like hate and terrible being thrown out, but do you know what's really terrible? Every single budget and cheap knock off of all these great games. I can understand why people wouldn't like these games, hell I don't like or finish 90% of what I play. However, that's not to say a game like halo wasn't on some level fun, except to all you fan boy flamers out there.

Guitar Hero and its ilk. It's just quicktime events and nothing else, the gameplay is awful! I suppose I kind of get why it's popular, but there are so many better games out there!

Way to sound condescending. I didn't buy it for the record, I borrowed it off of a friend. But I like Medal of Honor games, and I generally like FPSes. Many features of the game are good, and the parachuting feature is actually really awesome. On paper, this game sounds like a game I'd really enjoy. Is it too much of a stretch for me to buy a game I don't end up liking? Don't be a prick. We aren't all idiots who can't hold on to our money. I'm saving for university, I work a full time job, and I don't think it's bad of me to buy myself a new game once in a while without meticulously researching it. And guess what? Reviews are fucking useless. All they do is tell people what the reviewer personally thought of the game. That doesn't help me with my purchase at all. I hated Halo, and it got awesome reviews. I loved Prototype, and it got mediocre reviews.

TL;DR, You're wrong.

GTA 4. After San Andreas, the game felt so empty. I was waiting for the part where you bought your own airfield with a harrier and stuff. Not to mention that utterly shit side game involving taking people bowling or whatever.

Dragon Age. Horribly bugged, pretty poor gimmicks, and some very badly written story meant that I felt the game wasn't up to the standards most people gave it (although Eurogamer did give it 6/10, which was about right). And that is without getting into the fact that a load of content was taken out to sell back to people later.

I found GTA IV to be dull too - as the first GTA I've played, I was mightily unimpressed about what I thought would be the greatest game evaaaaaar.

Also, EG gave 8/10 to the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins, the 6 was for the consoles. They can be a little off anyway, they gave Mafia - the real greatest game evaaaaaaar - a 4/10!

I agree with you with Half Life 2, I played it late and I felt cheated because I found it meh, I also had no idea what was going on as I didn't play the first one. [*EDIT* That's my fault though]

Also Final Fantasy, I have never understood why those games still sell ..
My words exactly. Last great Final Fantasy game was X, then it has gon from bad to worse and mind you I've played my fair share of FF-games.

with Half-Life series it was as portrayed above.

WoW.

It was just too repetitive. I had recently given up Runescape for the same reason when I tried it.

Urgh. If I ***** about Portal anymore, my face will fall off.

I never liked Chrono Trigger.
The battle was too dry for me, grinding like I do (20+ levels what most people are normally at) took a LOT away from the game's "fun factor", and it just didn't give me the 'Wow' that most people are spooging over.
I have friends telling me to keep playing, that it'll pick it up at the next turn, I'll feel that static awesome in the next fight, that greatess will hit me like a watermelon wrapped with a goldbrick in a bedsheet at the next--
Yeah, no. I just don't like it, and can't see why everyone else does.
I'm not too fond of the game myself. I just find most of it pretty boring, from the battles, the setting, the dialogue, etc. I play it and feel absolutely no drive to continue.

I feel it is because the zaniness of Earthbound and Super Mario RPG have spoiled other JRPGs somewhat.

God of War. I like the genre but GoW just felt boring to me. There wasn't really anything wrong with it but there wasn't anything great in it either.

Lol, with that list that is kind of hard to believe ;) Although I must admit that most of those that you list aren't the really good ones and in that aspect get more attention than they deserve maybe.

For me it is most rts games of the last few years. Kind of my pet pieve right now that these games tend to suck terribly and be all alike. The lack of progress makes me want to design one myself :p

I can't see why anyone is completely into Metal Gear Solid.

I can't make heads or tails from it. The story is unaccesible until you've played all the other games on outdated consoles, even then the story is jibberish.
also, gameplaywise it's not the best in the world, so no points there.

I liked the part where you had 5 different color boxes and had to navigate a conveyer belt though. And that's pretty long ago...
