I lightened up on MW2, purely because of the bullshit multiplayer aspect they refuse to patch.

But if anyone gets in CoD4's face I will fight you to the grave.

Generic my ass. Don't fix what aint broke.

There's really no game that I consider sacred. I still see valid criticism for my favorite games.

Nothing is sacred. Do you hear me? Nothing. There is nothing in the world that is immune to criticism and hatred; there is nothing devoid of flaws, and nothing that cannot be verbally bashed. Watch, I'll do it right now, on my five favorite games of all time:

Deus Ex had shitty stealth and ugly levels.
Half-life 2 was unfinished and relied too heavily on jumping puzzles.
KOTOR was...uh...it had badly-designed dungeon areas? (It's been years)
Metro 2033 had the motherfucking ameboa fight and gun-battles with anything that wasn't a Nosalis.
Mass Effect had that wretched, wretched Thorian fight and that Godawful MAKO thing.

Make no mistake: I consider nothing off-limits. Not MGS (which was mediocre), not Zelda (which was unbearably shitty), not HALO (which was just a waste). It's all fair game, and needs to be for this industry to stay healthy.

I have a copy of Doom II propped up on an expensive pillow, and enshrined in a glass case.

There is nothing wrong with some healthy criticism. But even though it's not my favorite game of all time, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say a bad word about Chrono Trigger.

Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic 2. They both had major flaws but I play them over and over again.

Saints Row 2.

It's probably my #3 favorite game, but the top 2, Fallout 3 and Castlevania:SOTN, are pretty universally liked, so I rarely have to "defend" them.

Saints Row 2 divides people because you'll often find the GTAIV vs. Saints Row 2 argument, and I'm in the camp that thinks GTAIV sucks balls while Saints Row 2 is almost deliriously fun.
I feel pretty much the same way. While I sort of liked GTAIV, I felt it was too... Average. Everyone had hyped it up to be this amazing rollercoaster thrill ride, when it was just an average sandbox shooter. I absoloutely LOVED Saint's Row 2, though.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon. I love that game. It's probably my favorite game evar ever, and the only game I'll fanboy rage for when someone insults it.

Final Fantasy X (it was the first in the series I played, and your God (or lack thereof) was it amazing).

My second favourite is Kingdom Hearts 2.

Half Life 2, Deus Ex and Bioshock are all that come to mind, but the big one is Half Life 2.

People have been severely INJURED cause they spelled it with incorrect capitalisation.

Hmmm, Doom, Doom II and Star Control 2. These games are just so mind boggling fun and simple to play, well maybe not Star Control 2, and enjoy even today. Since they have stood the test of time for me they are the only games I would consider defending. Mainly against graphics attacks, those are just bogus.

Otherwise I haven't really considered any other game to be that grand that warrants protection from attacks. I can see the good and bad points so I'll be happy with people who pick at the bad points. Just means a patch has a bigger chance to fix that issue. Don't get me wrong, other old games like Planescape: Torment are some of my favourite games, but they do have flaws that I can understand from certain perspectives.

Other modern games are really fun as well, but I can see them fading away as better games are released. Or their unique mechanic becomes stale.

Can't really bash Doom. Run and gun. Call it simple but it is fun.
Star Control 2 gets me story and exploration wise.

For me it would have to be morrowind goty edition, everything about that game just makes it a 10/10 the freedom, the quests, random encounters where you have to find someones pants or help a naked nord xD

I can accept any criticism of even my favorite games, but I hate when people complain about the graphics of [insert game here], especially when it's a 10+ year old game. You really expect photo realistic graphics on a PS1 era game? I also hate undue criticism of good games.
I get that a lot when I mention that some of my favourite games are FFVIII or FFIX.

OT - Mostly, the games I grew up with are more likely to be the ones I consider 'sacred' but I wouldn't necessary rate them 10/10. And simply because I consider them to be so doesn't mean I stand up and defend them every time someone bashes 'em.

I'd say that there are four games which I truly lost my self in. Where I became so involved in the world that when I was done I felt a deep sadness that the experience was over. And felt as though I'd gained something from the game beyond mere entertainment.

-Mass Effect (both)
-Darwinia
-Galactic Civilizations
-Eve (Not so much when it was over but when I realized just how complex the world was. And saw that I'd never have time to master it.)
