Title pretty much says it all.
What games to you think would have been amazing but had one or two flaws, big or small, that should have been sorted by the developer.
For me it has to be Fallout, if the level cap on that game was either completely gone or much higher(I know they changed it to 30, but that's still too little) it would be so amazing.

Spore, obviously the idea is great but they somehow managed to fuck it all up.

Mirrors Edge and Spore, sure the idea of them and the trailers were good but in reality they weren't.

Ah yeah Mirrors Edge, the trailer looked amazing I was almost tempted to buy it too but after 5 minutes of playing the demo I quickly realised it was a disaster.

You beat me too it...

Its a shame, it really is. The released version was barely a fraction of the massive, hyper adaptive joy implied by the old E3 video - dumbed down creature creation (along with a stupid and abitary skill-point thing), dumbed down city making, dumbed down civ phase, dumbed down Space phase (along with madenning stupid colonies - seriously, is your starship the only one they have?).

The Last Ninja. Would have made a great game for the last generation, it just had one flaw: It was canceled.

Spore was nice, but especially after reading up on it a bit, I can't shake the feeling it could've been more.

Blitzkrieg II. All right, maybe not amazing per sé, but at least it could've been an average game if it sucked less.

Star Trek: Legacy. The less said about this, the better.

Dawn of War: Soulstorm, if it wasn't for the immense memory leak the (inexplicably) new studio introduced (and which the old one hasn't been able to fix since).

H.A.W.X., if it had a longer, better campaign.

Fable. If they kept Moulyneux quiet it would have been a lot less disappointing.

Alone in the Dark. When I saw the videos for this game showing of the inventory screen and the item combination, I was sold. However, when I bought the game I had no idea what I was getting into. Stiff controls, awkward gun handling, terrible graphics, horrible dialogue. But I was determined to like this game, after all it was the item combining that I wanted. But after about 20 minutes you realize there are only 2 combinations that actually work, and guess what! The game doesn't pause when you go to your inventory. Could have been so rad...

I agree heavily to Spores and Mirror's Edge...

I am still waiting on the rest of Shenmue... *sniffles* DONT BURST MY BUBBLE...Its coming dammit!!!

Also As much as I loved .//hack, I would have loved for them to make a /good/ mmorpg out of it.

Games that Could have been amazing...

Well as others have said SPORE obviously. If EA had left it alone and let Will Wright release his masterpiece, which was all but finished in 06', that game would have been amazing. But no, EA had to come in and take the cleaver to it, dumbing it down until free roaming creatures weren't even in the game anymore, instead replaced by creatures chained to a nest who go extinct in an unrealistic way. What ever happened to making contact with planets and getting worshipped as a god by the way? I saw a video where they played music from the space ship, and a foul note sent the planet into a panic.

Fallout 3, obviously. I held out hope and ignored the Fallout 2 fanboys until it got here. I mean come on, when you can sleep with a prostitute and kill her in her sleep then cannibalize her flesh, what's the point of making children indestructible anymore? It's not like you can't nuke them or sell them into slavery by the way, so why make them bullet proof? Really ruins the immersion, not to mention the countless plot holes, the lack of mission depth a lot of the time, the lack of a decent reputation system, crappy dialogue options that read like "I'm an immature jerk who's going to pee on your boots, ner hur hur" and "I'm a self sacrificing idiot who, despite other obvious options, am going to do something really pointless and stupid to be a goody two shoes."

Saints Row 2... Ok yeah I loved the game, but something about playing a main character who, despite all your customization, is hard scripted to be a total idiot just gets to me. I don't appreciate having my "Hitman" themed cold killer taken over by the cut scene and forced to try a drug he doesn't even know the name of, or being a complete and total moron with no vision other than "Hey Anarchy yeah Anarchy yay". And what's the point of gang customization if your gang is still going to be full of sexist drug snorting idiot thugs who love the color purple? I can think of a dozen other viable gang cliches that would have been easily implemented, and some divergent story lines and dialogue options that would have taken all of 20 hours to fit into the game and would have drastically added to gameplay and immersion. And sorry, Septic Avenger? Come on, are we as stupid as they take us for? Nice job on the crappy PC port by the way.

Grand Theft Auto 4... Don't even get me started. I miss Vice City.

Actually the list could go on and on and on. As I've said, games are being dumbed down more and more with each passing year.

Far Cry 2. It was a very good game, in my opinion, and was definitely much better than average. However, it could have been great if...YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO WALK ACROSS THE ENTIRE F****** CONTINENT OF AFRICA EVERY F****** TIME YOU WERE TOLD TO GO BLOW SOMETHING UP!!!!

Ubisoft..I have 2 words for you....FAST TRAVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, you managed to miss the bus stops, did you?

I'm gonna agree with Mirror's Edge. They shouldn't have set the second half of the game in interior environments that completely ruined the flow of the game, and they should have incorporated a free roam mode around the city.

Edit: They also should have had an interesting storyline. The whole idea of messengers was great, but they failed to capitalise on it.

Fallout 3, Farcry 2, GTA 4, Mirror's edge, Dead space, Silent Hill homecoming, Fear 2, and lets go back a bit and remember Mr. barker's Jericho.
