Any game with a Bad/good ending, if the bad ending appears I feel depressed I didn't do the best for the character... then I leave the game alone.
So, you didn't like it when the future refused to change? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oMXF9mzc38]

Anywho, E-102's ending in Sonic Adventure is still sad to me. Also in Mass effect, when I had to kill off Kaidan. There's been quite a few others, but I can't remember them at the moment.
My word that is the most intence loss ever! Daargh!!

And I agree with you on E-102's ending also.

Ocarina of time made me sad when I finished it. Awww,... Now I'm sad thinking about it....Im gonna play left 4 dead to cheer me up :D
Oh yeah... I'd forgotten how much that depressed me upon completion, after all of it, you return to childhood, forget everything and all goes back to normal... as if nothing had ever happened at all, made me quite a bit sad as a child.

Fable 2 where you have to choose at the end, that and the way the "perfect world" scenario was done.

Mass Effect - when you had to choose between 2 human characters.

STALKER: Clear Sky.

And I haven't even played it.

GSC did a great job with Shadow of Chernobyl, and was nice and loose with their players and all, then Clear Sky was released...

They included a five-install limit. StarForce DRM. Released a buggy (but that was expected) game, but seemed to almost disregard American bug reports. Released an even buggier game to the Russian market (they were guinea pigs).

I was ripped in half. Do I buy it because it's GSC? Do I not buy it because of the DRM? If I don't buy it, should I torrent it, even though it's GSC? Should I take it up with GSC and be all like, "Yo homeez, what iz up wit ur shitz wit da DRM????????????"?

I ended up not doing anything. When my computer gets upgraded, though, CS is as good as pirated. Bastards and their DRM...
It's even worse, don't bother. I've tried playing it three or four times so far just because everytime i get halfway through the game some bug or other stops my progress.... causing me to have to restart and try and avoid whatever ridiculous issue came next.

Enemies for quests didn't spawn, crashes loading certain area's that happen all the time!

Stalker Clear Sky is one of the reasons i have stopped paying for games.

I don't know if this qualifies, but Braid made me feel partly depressed. It was a weird combination of feelings (the most notably frustrating was being let-down by anticlimax).

I don't believe in spoilers, so I'll stop there, but no matter how I seem to flip it, I get a weird sinking feeling in my stomach thinking about that game now.

--Edit--

Final Fantasy X had that effect where I was half-crying and half-happy at everything. I couldn't even figure out if I was saddened or what, it was just a strange feeling.

Half-life 2 Episode 2: I'm pretty sure most people will know what i'm talking about.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Same as above.
Totally agree with you on HL2 Episode 2. Also Mirrors Edge, because it was so short.

I was depressed when Crono died in Chrono Trigger, but then I again, I was like 10. :)

I get more scared from games than sad, but I think that's just the genre I frequent. My favorite games are the Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and the Resident Evil series'.

I was, however, very depressed when I found out that Mother 3 wasn't going to be released in America (or any English speaking country for that matter) until the translation patch came out for the rom. I still wish I could actually OWN the game and play it legit. I'm not really fanboyish enough to go out and learn a language as complex as Japanese over an rpg... :)

The ending of Persona 3, sure the robot girl took a little realism out of it, but man...that was a sad bittersweet ending.
You visit all the people you made links with, your friends all remember the promise, and when they run out to meet you...
you die

I actually beat that recently, and I have to say, it didn't depress me. I agree it makes you very "Wait, what?" but then again...

The Main Character (MC)'s final persona "Messiah" hints at what will happen, in addition to the fact that I was concerned that this game would end with that. It made me happy to establish these relationships with people and then sacrifice myself to save them. It touched me as well when it hit me that he held on just long enough after the fight to keep his promise, and then he died. Also, I think Aigis didn't take away from the realism, oddly. She helped to add to the symbolism of it all. I liked the way her character became. I haven't played The Answer, though, so I'm unsure how that develops with her.

Yeah, I suppose it was more about the symbolism then the realism. Thinking about it there's nothing real about a game where you blow a hole in your head to summon a demon enslaved by your ego anyway.

Jedi Academy 2. I can't get far before the... stupid, I'll say, levels that were built by the Empire make me give up.

This is true. They took out the guns for Persona 4, it turns out.

Although, back on topic,

Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4 also made me a little sad.

Though MGS4,
I thought the ending was a little silly, in that Kojima basically made Snake not matter. Everything he did was scripted to the very end, and nothing came out of it. I didn't like that. I hope they either add more to the tale, or...I'll just need to cry myself to sleep over the anticlimax.

Probably Portal because I expected so much from it. So Then I played Half Life 2 and felt much better.=]
You are of course being ironic. As we all know that Portal is the only perfect game in existence. After all, even ZP couldn't really say anything bad about it. Any game that can make you lament the "demise" of an inanimate object deserves recognition...:)

While it didn't really go so far as to depress me, the ending of Braid was one that definitely made me pause for thought.

The Godfather game actually depressed me so much that I could only play It for about an hour at a time, even though I found It enjoyable for that hour each time I played It.
I sort of see what you mean with The Godfather. It's...somber, if not exactly depressing. I'm pretty sure it's the music. Also, for some reason the environment seems somewhat empty, and too big, which is odd since there were certainly people around. Didn't stop me from enjoying it though.

I think there was some game that depressed the hell out of me but I can't think of it right now. I suppose I could say The Darkness, but it wasn't really depressing just dark, and it was supposed to do that. Very well done.
