The Halo series. I will admit that Halo Reach has me somewhat interested, but we'll see; Halo hasn't ever been anything special to me.

The same can be said of Gears of War as well. But honestly what bugs me the most about GoW are the pretentious, artsy trailers while the actual game is filled with macho BS.

Final Fantasy XII. I went back and forth on this one, liking it one day and hating it the next, depending on what I was focusing on. Then I realized that after putting fifty hours into it, I was no longer enjoying the gameplay, I stopped caring about the story, and the characters ceased to intrigue me. Plus, Vaan's ribcage freaked me out.

The God of War series. This one might be unfair for the list because I like the God of War games; I've played all four of them to completion, but I do not think the series is deserving of the obscene amount of praise that it receives. It's good, but it's not that good.

All Nintendo games - except Pikmin. Sorry to say it but I have no interest in Mario, Zelda or any of their other bland series.
Halo
COD MW 1&2
GTA 4

I'll come up with more later.

Torchlight - all my friends went apeshit for this game when it came out. It was like they needed some kind of Diablo fix and Torchlight eased that pain. I played it for a few hours and honestly it felt like someone was digging a pick into my skull. Not my game style and I've never played Diablo so I don't have any nostalgia.

Fallout 3 - I loved Morrowind and Oblivion. I played them till my eyes bled and when I found out they had a more futuristic massive world sci-fi game I was thrilled. Again, played it for a few hours and find it mind numbingly boring. It just didn't click with me the way the other games did and the controls seemed awfully clunky (not in comparison to Morrowind which was like trying to play with the controller behind your back but in comparison to games released around the same time)

portal (overrated, short, limited)
half life 2 (overrated)
TF2 (only played offline, but didn't like the controls or characters)
timesplitters (watched gameplays, cutscenes, multiplayer and trailers, gameplay looks meh, the gun+ muzzle flash takes up half the screen, and the developers are douchebags)
starcraft (singleplayer was repetitive and boring)
Doom (overhyped because it's old, for christ's sake you can't even look up or down)
legend of zelda (overrated)
mario (old ones, they're too fucking difficult, on the snes version they send a banzai bill at you 5 seconds into the game)
killzone 2 (graphics are amazing, but the controls, environment and enemies suck)
metal gear solid (good game, but i don't like the way they did stealth)
half life 1 (played the first part, was bored)
GTA san andreas (was fun at first, but now it's just boring)
pokemon (good game, but every time i play it the repetition kills me)

I despise call of duty 6, but apparently so does everyone else.

btw, why is everyone saying halo? if anything, at the moment it is underrated, with all of the unnecessary hate it gets.
I pretty much had trouble breathing when you said you played TF2 OFFLINE and didn't like the CONTROLS or CHARACERS!!! WHAT?! The ultimate balanced online gameplay, controls that can be changed to whatever you damn well please, and characters that redefine stereotypes. What's not to love?

Every time I see this thread rear its ugly head, it makes me wonder just how true the numbers are on some of those "popular" games.

The Call of Duty series past CoD 2. Totally generic FPSs that are met with critical acclaim? No thanks.

This probably had something to do with the fact that there was far less customizability (as compared to oblivion, anyways...compared to any other shooter save ss2, fallout 3 was mind blowingly complex lol)

I like COD but I don't treat it like the second coming of Half Life like most people at my school do. And one guy kept going on about how great Modern Warfare 2's story is so great. Guess they never played Deus Ex. COD is good, but it's not fantastic work the likes of which we may never see again.

Fallout 3.
Really, it bored my brains out.
I thought it was brown, boring, and unconvincing.

I know its trying to be ironic on some level, but even that did not convince me. The characters are just cardboard, and I can neither like nor dislike them, because I did not meet a single human. Anywhere.
The whole "moral choice" is contrived and lacks any motivation to do good or bad.
The landscape is pretty at first, but after running around it for a few hours, it became so tedious. And since all the characters where really kind of stick-figures, I did not care at all what became of the father of the protagonist and stopped playing.

It may well be that I missed the point, and that sandbox games are not for me (very probably true). But I just don´t get the hype.

Zelda-Twilight Princess.
I like the Zelda series, but I couldn't shake the feeling that everything has been done before and done better.

(Spoilers, but not surprising at all)

Also I found it to be incredibly easy. Ganon only hit me because my support character was fussy about whether or not she would let me do a quick time-event to stun the boss.

Star Craft, World of Warcraft, Diablo 1 and 2, Warcraft 3. Never played most of them though, just look dumb.

KotoR would probably be the big one for me. Half Life 1 as well, 2 was admittedly quite good even if I do think it is slightly overrated with it still being unfinished and having vehicle sections but 1 was nothing compared to other games released in the late 90s, most notably System Shock 2 and Metal Gear Solid. Diablo and Silent Hill were other games that overshadowed it but since they're not fps games it'd be unfair to compare them directly.

Way to make an informed decision :)

Final Fantasy in general. I just don't have much love for the series. I recognize what it is and I know what it's done for gaming but I just don't like it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it.
