With the damn near obscene price of a new game these days makes getting your money's worth more important than ever.

By money's worth I mean staying value, is it a game you can play a lot of at a time then come back to months later or something you play on a regular basis.

I'm including games from previous generations that were worth the "then" price.

Games this generation that were worth what I paid for:
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Gears of War 1/2
Saints Row 2
The Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
God of War 2 (Not technically this generation, but relatively recent)

Top is probably going to have to be The World Ends With You. Followed by Tales of Symphonia. I played those two games to death.

... No. I'm above that. Opinions are to be respected.

I still AM addicted to it.
My friend and I were in the library, and I was on Tetris Friends and I was pwning this poor n00b. All I hear is

"Leo, you're abusing the up key aren't you?"
"Yeah, it's Hard Drop and it's tasty.."

Tasty is an adjective I don't use often enough.

I got her hooked on okami and guitar hero before we parted ways. Tetris is definitely a gateway game.

I remember SNES games that cost around £70 when they came out. None of those games were EVER worth the price.

Wolfenstein 3d, Spear of Destiny, Doom, Doom II, Ultimate Doom, Master Levels for Doom, Doom:TnT, Doom: Plutonia Experiment, DooM, DOOM, Heretic, DoOm, dooM, dOOm....I'm sure you see where this is going =D

I can play those games at any time, for any length of time, and still enjoy them as much as the first day I played them. So yeah, they were worth the money I spent on them.

GTA IV, Orange Box, Fallout 3 are ones that people would expect me to say... however, I doubt no one else will say Tom Clancy's End War and Civilisation: Revolution.

I have a MacBook, yet am a total sucker for stratergy games... meaning that not am I a pinnacle of irony, but also I rarely get any good console strategies, and therefore whenever a vaguely decent one pops up I'm all over it.

I think the last game I bought that I felt 100% satisfied with was either God of War II or Metal Gear Solid 3.

As contraversial as it would be to mention, the only one recently for me has been Far Cry 2.

Yes, the game did drag on, but it kept me going for months, and there was a heck of a lot of enjoyment in that game.

I almost feel ashamed I only got if for £10 actually. I would've been willing to have paid the full RRP but then I remember they didn't release as demo AND added DRM. Stupid, stupid Ubisoft!
