Games that have GOOD endings

There's been a lot of talk about games these days which have terrible (usually lame cliffhanger) endings. Case in point being both Modern Warfares and Just Cause 2. There seem to be very few games that have endings that either tie up the story or do the cliffhanger right

Some exceptions are:
Dark Messiah: Tied up the story whichever path you took, a little ambiguity but nothing teasing a sequel which was good I thought
Condemned CO: Ended the story and kept it mysterious without giving a real explanation for what was going on and had just enough left unanswered with that end scene in the bathroom to keep you guessing (can I just add I haven't played bloodshot but I hear it's not very good).

What other games can you think of that actually have quality endings?

Shadow of the Colossus, though I may be biased, because IMO pretty much everything is good about that game. I actually cried at the end when Agro came limping into the temple.

Metal Gear Solid 3 had a very good ending as well. Quality bossbattles followed by a great epilogue.

I always loved the Half-Life 2 ending (not to mention episode 2).

I thought that inFamous actaully had a good cliffhanger as well as Killzone 2. Not to mention Darksiders (though the story was not perfect to begin with) the loose ends where wrapped up and finished on an epic note.

Oh and Resistance 2, I don't realy know why though just liked the ending.

Both finished the stories being told but at the same time left it open for a sequel. I also love the Dragon Age endings.

Oh and the MGS games, apart from MGS 2, I was disapointed with that one.

Onimusha games are case in point of a perfectly ended, tied up storyline. You have to think about the loose ends, but in the end, they aren't loose.

That's up until 3, at least, I haven't played the newer ones.

No, your not being biased, it was a good ending. And a good game.

Wow... I must have either played a lot of bad games recently or not finsihed any of the good ones, cause I cannot think of any really...

Oh, definitely Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. With such a masterfully crafted story, I had a hard time believing they could top it at the end... But they did.

I won't spoil it for you.

The recently released Red Dead Redemption has an amazingly heart-throbbing ending.

John Marston, reunited with his wife, son, and rancher 'friend' Uncle, returns to his ranch in Beecher's Hope and tries to start up his farm again. However, soon after, the American Army rushes your door and you, your son, and Uncle must defend the ranch. Soon, Uncle is shot and John and his son, Jack, rush to the barn. Your wife Abigail and Jack get onto a horse and, as you say your last goodbye's, ride off. John turns around, looks through a crack in the barn door, and sees Edgar Ross and Archer, the government agents from before. Finally accepting his fate, John walks outside, and takes out 6 of the soldiers, including Archer. The other soldiers, along with Edgar Ross, put John down.

3 Years late, Abigail has died and Jack Marston is now a lonely gunslinger. He travels to Lake Julio and soon finds Edgar Ross, who he kills in a duel as revenge for his father. The story ends there. Is it a cliffhanger? An epilogue? A possible sequel? Who knows, but it is one thing: good.

Final Fantasy Tactics had a really solid ending. But my personal favorites were 8 bit Metal Gears and MegaMans. It was just such a hassle to get there, seeing the ending felt so good.

I liked the Darkness' ending. It was anti-climactic, but in this case that was good. I won't spoil it for you, but imagine what happens when you reach you goal in a game. You have nothing left as your thirst for revenge was all that was left in your life.

Absolutely love that game *synergy FTW*.

Pretty much all the Final Fantasies have endings which tie the story up pretty well except FFX which just needed X-2. Fallout 3 had a good ending too.

Hmm... oh yeah and Borderlands. Why? Just cuz its the first ending that I was looking forward to (Yea! the Vault!) that managed to piss me off and then made me realise how much I liked it.
