The Condemned games and REmake are the scariest games I've played. FEAR has it's moments as well.

Mirror's Edge scared me shitless at certain points in the game...
But that isn't even a horror game...

OT: Pretty much every level in Condemned.
Strangely enough... Horror-games don't scare as much as that game did...
Okay then, what scarred you?
The goddamn runner-police... Damn, those fuckers can move!

Way back when Eternal Darkness came out, my friend bought it and hurried over at around 10pm to play it at my house. So we started playing, lights off. And then the volume bar starts going down, and he turns to look at me and says "Why did you turn the volume down?" I reply that I didn't and point to the remote that is on the other side of the bedroom, and we freaked out. And then the bathtub scene, where you walk into the bathroom and see your character lying in it, dead with her wrists slashed open and blood everywhere. We were fucking terrified.
:
You forgot the scream that was SO loud when you see the bathroom scene.

Eternal Darkness gets my vote too, that was one seriously wierd game, all the little psychological effects and sounds going on.

Very very jumpy. I never got on with Resident Evil either simply because I hate Zombies, there's just something about them that I can't stand. Either way Eternal Darkness still gets my vote, there was some seriously wierd/chilling stuff in that game, and a lot of it wasn't obvious scare factor stuff, by which I mean bodies which you expect to move etc.

The bathtub scene (innocent bathroom as well when you first see it) is a prime example.

The Marine campaign of Aliens Versus Predator 2.

The typical sounds coming from my room at the time.

"OH FUCK! OH FUCK! OH...FUCK!!

And Condemned, specifically the manequin sequence.

Here's both!

Someone else played AVP2! Yeah, the Marine Campaign freaked me out too. It was my first Survival Horror game... good times. Sidenote: Monolith created the FEAR series too.

OT: Aliens Vs Predator 2 and this online game called Combat Arms. Whenever a "Super Spy" comes to me I skip a beat.

Fatal Frame 2 is the game that managed to make me actually wrap myself in a blanket due to all the goosebumps that I was having. 3 was also very good, although they got a bit too liberal with all the Japanese women in stockings and underwear on proud display, which broke the immersion a bit. I'm sure they would have done the same with number 2 if they could, but thankfully the main characters were, like, 12 years old. Keep that shit off mah horror games, please...

Sadly I haven't played Condemned 1, but the Hotel level in Condemned 2 made me almost cry for my mummy.

Also the office level in the first FEAR, where you first encounter those cloaked ninjas. It takes ages for them to actually pop up, you know that sómething is there (bodies, lots of em) but you have no idea what or where. I was absolutely terrified there. That is, until I learned the trick on how to beat them: listen for decloaking sound, pop slow-mo and look around you.

When I was younger, the Redeads in OoT I just couldn't stand...
I found the OoT ReDeads kittens compared to the Wind Waker one's (played WW before OoT). That scream...o gods that blood curtailing scream.

Oddly enough there was one thing (Well two, but they both serve the same function) in resident evil 0 that scared me, or at least unsettled me.

Opening doors and going up/down stairs. Something about how it showed your character going through the door or up/down the stairs unsettled me.

I miss games like that. >:

EDIT - Also that damn mannequin sequence was terrifying. Reminds me of that episode of Doctor Who. D:
I was just about to mention Eternal Darkness.

"OH LOL YOUR SAVES GOT ERASED"
I almost killed my friend because I thought they ereased all of my hard work. So many good times with that game.

Fatal Frame is still to this day the only game I have ever had to turn off and take a break from because I was being generally creeped out by it.

Condemned II, when those mannequins just.....appeared.

I proceeded to play Yoshi Story for a couple of hours to get me de-creeped.

I think Dead Space is scary. On impossible difficulty. Its lets scary than "I'm gonna die if they scratch me..."

F.E.A.R. the first one, the second one pissed me off cause it wasn't really as damn scary, hell, I was playing it at night with the lights turned out and all I was doing was yawning. The first in broad daylight, had me hiding behind the couch.

One part of FEAR scared me hugely, thereby dispelling the rest of the game's scare factor. Pretty sure it was the first FEAR, when you turn around to go down a ladder and all you see as you slide down are Alma's ankles, just there. Nothing happens, but it scares the bajeesus out of you. Unfortunately, they didn't do anything as well for the rest of the game.

I found Dead Space scary for a while, but it went away. I love the game, but it used the same mechanics too many times to stay fresh in scare. It does however still make me jump when one of those buggers sneaks up on me.

Thief. Oh, lordy. The Shalebridge Cradle. It maketh me shiver.

Eternal Darkness when your insanity bar runs out. *shiver*

Extermination...the whole thing. I can't play it. I've tried six times with 2 years apart each attempt. Damn.

The Path, for managing to be really really creepy without resorting to any cheap "Rawr! Look at me jump out at you!" moments.
