Dear escapist have you ever played a game that insulted you.It could be intelligence wise or just calling you names.Heres an example i was playing Shadow Of The Colossus and just as i'm about to strike the final blow and kill the monster, the game all of a sudden say "hit the glowing mark on the head"which is what i had been doing for the last 5 min.
So has a game ever insulted you.If so how and what game was it.

From Knight Steel
Just about every single moment in F.E.A.R, but particularly the hit-in-the-face moment at the start and the won't-get-out-of-the-elevator bit towards the end. Oh, and not arresting the fat computer geek. And the mind-bogglingly inane "your parents" twist towards the end. And probably half a dozen other moments that I could think of if I could be bothered.

"You were killed by a grenade

Watch out for the grenade indicator."
Oh i hate that so much, especially when it's during search and destroy and someone randomly lobs the grenade at you from across the map when the game starts
I think that COD4 is a good example of an insulting game, because it was probably the first FPS i'd ever played, and i couldn't find the MP5 at the training thing and all i heard for the next three minutes was
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!
Soap! Equip your MP5!

Pretty much any game with a quick time event that takes up the majority of the screen would seem insulting... That said I'm pretty stupid anyways...

I have a really obscure one. An old point and click adventure game called Space Quest IV. The narrator in the game constantly insults you for failing miserably. Such as the "Watch out for that first step!" as you fall to your doom.

Although my favourtite has to be when you get run over by a sand bike or shot on the conveyor belts. The first one tells you "Nice reflexes!" the second one says "Why did you just STAND there?"

Call Of Juarez - Bound in Blood

"Try to stay live for as long as possible"

Loading screen tip during online play.

It's like, 'Really? Stay alive, well I thought I was suppose to die as often as possible in order to win'

Great game though.

Games that give you useless hints at loading screens like "Press left to attack" when you are about to take on the End boss.

Hm... Doom, which has been mentioned before, saying you're chickening out and crap for quitting.

Teen Agent had a LOT of anti-player jargon in it, was a funny game...

"Not enough pylons, build more pylons." ~Starcraft, Protoss

"Reload, doctor Freeman!" (Has been mentioned, but seriously.)

Ooh! And Links Golf (REALLY old PC game). "Looks like ya hit the tree, Jim."

Actually, that game was hilarious. My brothers and I hurt ourselves laughing every time we tried to play it...

How's about Splosion Man's 'Way of the Coward'. I mean - fine, maybe some people bought a game that was meant to be difficult and didn't expect a challenge, but I did. And every tenth death I got made me madder and madder at the game.

A game like Splosion Man has a lot of surprises in it - there are places in levels where it is nearly impossible to know what to expect unless you've been there before particularly in the more difficult levels towards the end of the game. Telling me that I've died way too much is irritating. Calling it the "Way of the Coward" is just patronising.

im suprised that nobody has said skate yet cause if i remember corectly when you go in the lounge of the shop one of the dudes said Something like "dont you hate it when people that cant skate play a skating game" thats kinda harsh coming from ea, also who would of bought the game if they could already skate? also square enix games with unskipable cutscenes are evil such as when you die on aboss you have to watch the same frickin cutscene all over again!

Am I the only one who pictured GlaDos saying that when I first read it. It makes the line infinitely more funny.
