Not really a moment everyone faces, but Dogmeat always dies terrible in my Fallout 3 game.....
how did you pull that off? my dogmeat can take down like 3 reavers by itself...
I wanted to use the Puppies perk so I had him take on several Deathclaws. After he killed like two of them I had to -help- the Deathclaws kill him myself. Needless to say, it wasn't really worth it in the end.

OT: The "Tales of..." series for me.

But I always hate when Aeris dies.
Same reaction. Not cry, but as close as I get in anything outside of books or real life. I don't really cry, although when I read (Any one ever notice that it's spelt the same for past and present tense?) Bridge to Terabithia I sometimes cry.

None, I'm a manly man who likes manly things.

That's not to say I wasn't a little upset at the end of Half Life 2: Episode 2, but no, can't say one has ever made me cry.
This. Also, the Normandy crash site in Mass Effect 2

Well it wasn't tears of sadness but tears of fear from Silent Hill Shattered Memories (i can't even go for a few minute before turning of number 2 becuase it creeps me out).

I don't know why but the ending of the Wind Waker makes me feel depressed and teary every time. and it only Wind Waker every other Zelda i feel accomplished seeing the ending, Wind Waker i felt like i just lost.

As over the top as that game was I actually felt something when Dom was forced to kill his own wife in GOW 2.

Apart from that I haven't really felt any strong emotions from gaming apart from rage, laughter, and satisfaction followed by rage. Games have yet to make the most out of tragedy and/or dramatic irony so their intended punch usually lacks the reach necessary to make a connection with the player

Metal Gear Solid 3 at the end... poor snake.
do you go SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!! ?
I do.
That reminds me of the time I pretended to be Solid Snake at an airport once. That took a lot of explaining, man.
Care to give some more detail? Sounds like a great story.

Well, I was on a Eurotrip with some people right, and during that trip I found out how much these guys were into MGS and it brought the franchise alive again for me. Throughout the whole trip there were MGS jokes everywhere. Then, at the airport in Singapore on the way home I decided to have a bit of a laugh. So was walking around with a friends scarf as a bandanna all sneaky-like. But doing stupid things as well, like wall hugging the inside of a horizontal escalator while going in the opposite direction to what the thing was. Got many strange looks from people. Eventually a couple of Airport security guys showed up asking why I was acting suspicious.

Thankfully I was fairly close to a games store so I could show them a copy of MGS to try and explain.

Good story, thanks. I must say I've been awfully tempted to wear a bandanna.

I frequently play games that do that to me.

Of greatest note were <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672-Neutral-Drow-reviews-A-Drug-That-Makes-You-Dream>A Drug That Makes You Dream (few things are tearjerking like trying to keep your girlfriend from <color=aliceblue>committing suicide), <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.128851-TYPE-MOON-reviews-Tsukihime>Tsukihime (at least once a route, for varying reasons), and <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.163769-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kanon>Kanon (having someone die in your arms after their wasting away for two weeks...).

Oh, and <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.206764-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kana-Little-Sister>Kana: Little Sister. I don't even know where to start...

I actually cried from every single Kingdom Hearts at one point.
I cried at Kingdom Hearts at the end.
I cried at Chain of Memories when Lexaeus and Zexion Faded.
I cried (For Joy) at the death of Larxene. (HA!)
I Cried at 358/2 Days "During" the Xion Boss fight and the following cutscenes.
And Kingdom Hearts 2... All I can say...POOR ROXAS!!!!!

I will not expect the tear jerking abilty of Kingdom Hearts to stop in future sequals or the Prequal.

Mgs 4 was the most bleak and depressing game I've ever played i was obsessed with the with the series as a teenager. As i played Mgs 4 a voice in my head was going this is it this is the end of one of your most beloved characters.
Oh, god, the sequence right before the end. You know the one I mean. I was sobbing so hard I almost failed.

Persona 4 made me cry too. There's one particular scene that is a real gutwrencher, and I broke down entirely.

The intense atmosphere in Gears 2. You know the scene, the incredibly melodramatic scene. I didn't cry, but I did have to take like 15 seconds to gather myself. It was a pretty sad scene.
That scene didn't make me cry but I was surprised that Epic was able to make a story piece like that so emotionally affecting.

OT: I can't think of any game that's made me cry. For that matter, I can't remember the last time I cried due to any type of media be it film, literature, or games. The Road brought me close though. I watched it recently and damn the tears almost came.

Final Fantasy 9. That shit was real, folks. Also, Twilight Princess always gets me, when Colin says something along the lines of "I know what it means to be like you Link! Not strong, but brave."

I haven't really found any other games with the same emotional quality of those. I know FFX will probably do it, but after getting nearly to the end and then losing my save, I gave up on it.

Guys, they don't make spoiler tags for fun! THEY USE IT TO POST SPOILERS! Seriously, I've been spoiled of 3 games.

I haven't played much sad games so I can't say so.

The end of Red Dead Redemption is the most recent.
I LOVED this game. Perhaps the gameplay was not the most streamlined, and perhaps it could have done with some more bug-checks, but it made me feel RESPONSIBLE for everything I did and, consequently, everything that happened in the plot.

I have not felt so much in a game, EVER.

I've never cried from game cutscenes or stories. Unless they're terrible.

I cry when I play MW2's multiplayer though. Or anything involving MW2 really.
