When Aeris died I shed a tear. I didn't flat out cry, but that was the first time my eyes have ever watered up.

When Lirum died shortly into Lost Odyssey though, I cried. That was probably the saddest moment in a video game I've ever seen.

I don't think I've ever been affected by games the same way I might have been affected by films (Schindler's List, Donnie Darko, and American Beauty are the worst offenders) or books, but Dragon Age's ending came pretty close. And that's saying a lot.

Dragon Age, when you are saying goodbye to your party before the final battle and your dog comes up and barks at you and the conversation bubble pops up and you can say:

"Go on. You're free now."

Little tear up right there.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2

That is all.
This.

And I have to admit, I cried at the end of The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. It looked like the world was destroyed, Spyro was stuck in crystal... that, I could take.

But no. Then they had to play the damn end credits song, which made me start crying.

The one she did for Dawn of the Dragon was better, but the ending wasn't as depressing. (Partly because I did know how it ended... then again, I knew about Eli and I still got teary. Damn you Valve and your characters I actually care about!)

I cried after You Have to Burn the Rope. Such an epic game.

Literally, I cried when HL2 ended. It was sad, but the credits were awesome.

Hm...games I've cried about...mostly just games with the difficulty curve of a brick wall that I got into a little to much have made me frustrated. But really...game endings not very much.

The endings of Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4, and Final Fantasy IX (the sequence just after Zidane meets Garland).
Came close during Tali's loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2.

end of GTA4, half-life 2 episode 2, shadow of the colossus, and mass effect 2 on the first play through when I lost thane.

although allot of other games got me just as emotional just in a different way, throughout half-life 2, Halo 1, SOtC, mass effect 2 or bioshock I was in a state of aww when just taking in the environments. also allot of these games have just a well realized world that they don't have to necessarily make you cry to be emotional experiences

Mass Effect 2 ending, tears welled up in me and I got short of breath form the sheer epic scale and spectacle of that second last cutscene...

This also applies to the ending of ME1.

Crisis Core and the end of The Last Remnant are the only games that have made me cry so far.

I would probably have to say the end of Grand Theft Auto 4. And the end of Metal Gear Solid 3, now that i think about it.

I don't think I've ever cried over a game. Although I have played a number of games that brought a lump to my throat.
