i never cry in a game.

but the closest i've been was ending of kingdom hearts.
it was b.e.a.utiful. if you haven't played it DO IT NOW!.

i'll wait...
I heard Kingdom Hearts had that kind of a story. Quick question, is it worth buying the Kingdom Hearts game? I have kind of moved on to PS3, but I know there are many PS2 games worth getting. Is that game one of them? Also, what about others in the series?

To answer the question of the forum (not addressed to you), I have never actually cried from a game - meaning I have never teared up at all - but there are definate games that left me with that feeling. Off the top of my head, the ending of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. They were not really sad, but it was a really nice ending for what it was worth. Maybe Bioshock. That is all I can think of right now. Apparently if I get around to Half-Life 2: Episode Two that is supposed to have a good ending so I look forward to that.

i haven't played all of them, but KH1-2 are definitly some of the finest games on the ps2.
be sure to play kh1 first though, because if you play 2 first. 1 can never be enjoyable. (1 being alot harder and less overpowered)

if you do not care much for the story just go ahead and play 2 and kick some ass!
also you might know kh involves alot of disney and the worlds of disney. (so loving disney really helps in the experience)

for me it was a nostalgia blast like never before, all those children books and videotapes brought alive in a game.

the story is a bit cliched. (at least 1 is, 2 is a whirlwind!)

The end of Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core.
Why did it have to be Zack that died and not Cloud, WHY?!

Wow, this made me realize I'm such a baby when it comes to a good story in a game. While I've only cried during one part in a game (The ending of Final Fantasy X) other games have gotten close, or atleast given me shivers. Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy VII, Heavy Rain.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic should be mentioned even though I didn't cry, as the big reveal half way through the game sent me for a loop

The part in FFX at the end where Yuna and Tidus go to hug and she goes right through him. Mind you, I was hella PMSing at the time. That is my excuse.

Heavy Rain. Tears of actual joy when things turned out well for me =D
Erm...
Aerith's death. But only because I had actually spent time levelling her up and assumed I'd get her back after she wandered off. How foolish.
Oh, and Shadow Hearts: Covenant, The good ending. Oh yes.
Nothing else comes to mind right now. I know FFX got me a few times but I am not sure how badly.

The "Leave" ending of Silent Hill 2. Even with mediocre voice acting and being reaallllyy stretched out, it choked me up.

Lost Odyssey got me pretty close. If that game had one thing going for it, it was its phenomenal story.

...Mama *tears up*

Oh, and Crisis Core had me close too. I knew the ending and it got me close. That's just a testament to how great the storytelling was.

The climactic scenes in both Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Tears of pure joy and exhilaration at the sheer epicness of it all.
