Lets say you saw an ad for a game you thought would be awesome, then you buy it and it sucks. When that happens to me, the first thing that comes to mind is "Where did it all go wrong?" Or let's say you played a game with a phenominal begining, but it begins to suck at the end. You'd be wondering the same thing.
So what games have ever made you think "Where did it all go wrong?"

WoW. And I think I can answer it. When I became easier, and then easier, and then easier again. I gues its better for most of people but not for me. Now you can get across dungeon with with 4 undergeared people who have no clue how to play. If I play it I want it do be diificult, thats real adventure.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot. I don't think "Where did it all go wrong" has ever been as appropriate for me.

It starts off well, actually gets better as it goes on, but it reaches a point towards the end where it takes a massive nose dive in quality and it just becomes a struggle to finish.

Playing gears of war. The first hour I was like "Oh my god this game is amazing!" and that feeling slowly crawled away and finally died as I played through it. I can't stand it now. It just seemed to be "Go into cave. Escape from Worm. Escape from Worm. Escape From Cave. Go into new cave. Kill people. Sscape from cave." ALL the time.

First, I'll say Red Ninja.. but the problems there were fairly obvious. The idea was an extremely solid one, and the execution was pretty good too, but there obviously just wasn't enough polish put into the game. It's like they got it to a basically complete playable Beta stage and then ran out of time/money and shipped it as is.

Second, I'll say Oni for the PS2. Probably the same deal here. It was supposed to be a PS2 launch title and just got rushed before it was anywhere near ready for primetime.

Dante's Inferno. For all the hype pumped into it (Superbowl commercial, i believe?) it just turned out to be another sloppy God of War clone.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback. It is still a guilty pleasure of mine, and somewhere in my top ten, but it starded out really good, and stayed good until about 2/3s of the way through, but when some missions where harder than a diamond in an ice storm due to poor friendly ai it got pretty bad. After that other faults showed up, and ones I had ignored before became less forgiveable

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

I hated it after the first mission for the game's horrible innovations in controls: a "dynamic" cover system and the inability to crouch. After figuring out that I could turn these ingenius functions of and play it like... well, pretty much just play it. It was pretty good for the next 10 missions or so, then it forced me into a sneaking mission with it's lovely AI. After pissing me off with that, the ended the game in a very long fight with instakilling enemies and one cover spot.

Another one would be CoD:MW2.

It's a sequel to one of the best shooters I've played. Controls are still nice, but being the same as the last game doesn't really get it extra points. The plot suffered from serious retardation. I really hated being betrayed all the time for no apparent reason. Also the multiplayer has huge connection issues and the spawn system is just terrible. Oh, and I love the jam they throw at you when you get wounded. That's how cod contributes to the video game art debate.

I guess I'd go with LittleBigPlanet.
For some reason I saw it as the golden child of gaming [and everything] when I'd first heard of it.

After playing the game [the only game I've ever bought on release day], beating it, and designing a walking wang I thought to myself, 'and...'?
This is it? The culmination of my golden child? A walking wang tank, and twenty substandard levels? When did it all go wrong? What did I see in this monstrosity?

I'll admit that I still enjoy it. I guess the veil being pulled away broke my heart, and that's why it still hurts. I've never been hyped for a game in my life, and the one I DID get hyped for [surprise, surprise] was a flop compared to my expectations.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. It starts out so strong, incorporating the best elements of past Spider-Man games and breathing new life into the series with an arcade style combat system that is as cool to look at as it is fun to use. It really sets itself up as the definitive Spider-Man experience.

And then, somewhere around the midpoint of the game, you realize that the entire game consists of the same four missions: Kill 5 bad guys, kill 10 bad guys, kill 20 bad guys, fight boss. You're given the option to take the "evil" route yourself and team up with villains, but even then, the missions are always the same. It's all standard fare.

Incredibly disappointing. There was so much potential.

mass effect 2 when did you become a dumb'ed down version of your predecessor
I guess I had to see that one coming too. Couldn't tell until after buying it, since I decided to absolutely NOT get ANY info on it, so that my experience gets a boost. Well, during that gazillion of vids they were posting, Shepard's face is nothing short of a failed plastic face surgery of an angry idiot. Should have watched them.

If Matrix was real, playing ME2 would feel like disconnecting the brain from it.

Folklore

The gameplay concept and visual design was truly amazing, but the execution was balls.

crackdown 2 my god that was such a betrayal to fans of the original it looked so ugly
Ok, it looked bad, but was it still FUN?

For me it was Steambot Chronicles. Controls were clunky, music was nonexistant (which is strange for a game BASED ON BEiNG IN A BAND) and it just felt like a mess.
