So I was really looking forward to prototype. Knife arms, destroying cities, and zombie things, whats not to like. Then I got it and it was fun...... for about ten seconds, then it got bland with its horrible story and repetitive game-play, and I thought "that was a waste of $60".

Anything similar happen to you?

L4D2 felt like a let down, and then I played Scavenge. Losing has never been so fun.

Not really. I was let down by Oblivion at first because I came into it expecting an RPG more like fallout 3 or Mass Effect in which character interaction and decision making was integral to the game, but I got something else instead. When I adjusted my expectations and started playing it and seeing it as was intended by the developers, I loved it.

I seem to have god-like abilities to pick up a game I know next to nothing about and have it turn out awesome.
So, no.

Kingdom Hearts II. I'm not going to deny that it was a step up in a lot of ways. The graphics still impress me to this day, the combat's been made more fluid (and flashier, but I consider that a drawback) and camera movement's down to a sweet science.

Despite all the improvements, though, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did the first one. It just felt like something was missing. I think it might have also had to do with the story. The series isn't exactly known for being the epitome of sci-fi/fantasy prose, but at least I could follow the plot of the first game without much trouble. For most of the second one, I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

It's not that complex of a story line to follow if you look closely.I could even follow it when I was 12.

OT:None that I can think of right now.

Brutal Legend. I was so excited to play that game and took time off of work to play it. I was not expecting a real time strategy game and the driving ingame sucked. :( The whole thing made me very sad.

Fallout 3, I still can't figure out how they managed to fuck it up so badly, it had two fucking successful predecessors and a half built engine already when they bought the rights. Not to mention all the design docs and story boards for van buren, and they still managed to somehow cock it up.
Fallout 3 turned out to be a dud for me as well. One of the few games I bought and never actually finished.

I got to max level doing sidequests and it's now very hard for me to convince myself to keep doing more sidequest or even finish the main storyline. The game totally failed to make an emotional impact on me, where game like Mass Effect or Dragon Age or hell... even the old Fallout 1 and 2 did... I actually cared for the npc and saving the world.
