Maybe Crash Bandicoot. But with this-gen graphics.

Or release Red Dead Revolver again, but remastered. I'm sad I never got to play the first one.

certainly not FFVII, suprised no-one has mentioned it yet, if it was redone with super-realistic graphics, a lot of the humour would vanish and just seem cringe worthy, like THAT scene with Tidus and Yuna laughing in FFX

Lufia 1 & 2, they don't actually need remakes as they are probably the best JRPGs in existence, and yes I do think both titles are better then almost every FF title in excistence, tying with FF: Tactics 6 & 7.

I would love to see the exact same game, combat system, interface, monster types, and overall storyline. Only modernized with pretty graphics then over-marketed like FF13 so people buy it.

Sadly SE is remaking one of them, but they're ruining it. The remake is called Estpolis and outside the names of the characters you'd have no idea the games we're even related. They don't even keep it looking like a fantasy setting. Just more yaoi fangirl catering swill that hurt every FF after 7, and destroyed 10 and 12.

The SNES version of shadowrun with todays mature content. The FPS of this really annoyed me. I was really hopign it would be the RPG. All of the Legacy of Kain/Soulreaver games. I hate to say this but..... Super Mario RPG, this is one of my all time favorite games.

Until a few weeks ago, would have said Summoner. Then I got Dragon Age, and there was no longer any need for it.

/thread.
Shouldn't we wait for the first iteration of the game to be released first?
Oh, sorry. I had the "games that should have sequels" thread open in addition to this one in another tab in Firefox. And I thought I was in that thread instead. So I in this thread, what I meant to post in the other thread.

Zelda Ocarina of time and Majoras Mask. Why? Because they were my favorite Zelda games. Well Majoras Mask was at least.
Damn, I was going to say this. I've actually been doing some planning for a sequel. Apart from simple graphics and seriousness upgrade, I was thinking that it'd be cool to try sticking Ocarina of Time in some kind of feudal japanese setting. It'd be cool. You could infuse a lot of the monsters and stuff with a just slight dose of Japanese folklore, turn Link into more of a heroic samurai character and I think there's a lot that you can go with.

And Majora's Mask actually has so much prospect for being a seriously dark and freaky game which was missed when it was just Ocarina of Time + and on the N64. With better graphics and a set direction, the idea of being stuck inside an alternate reality and using masks that contain sorrowful souls wouldn't exactly make for a horror game, but an adventure game with a very dark subtext.

Just another one out of the blue, HALF LIFE! When's Black Mesa Source going to be finished?!

Streets of Rage, first game I played on my first console. I also played each subsequent game. To see this modernised holding onto some of the core aspects of the game, like the sidescrolling, the one button attack, which could be updated with something like using the sensitivity of the buttons for different attacks. Maybe a block button. More difficult bosses, as I have always found that while games from when I was younger had more difficult normal enemies, the bosses were only slightly more difficult, whereas, modern games have extremely easy enemies and more challenging bosses.

Final Fantasy 8. They have pretty much remade all of them up to 6 and 7 has had loads of spin offs. Why no love for 8?
Because it was the worst in the entire series?
Ah cmon i could understand someone not liking it but saying its the worst of the series is harsh. FF10-2? FF12? FF13? All far worse.

Trespasser, it was to advanced to be done properly back in 1998, now would be a great time to re-make it. after all, a game that that had one of the first working physics engines deserves to be brought back to life....+ I would really like to re-play a game that has your health bar placed on your left boob in the shape of a heart...
yeah but the problem is unless it was done by someone big then chances are the developer mightn't be around anymore especially if it was consumed by some giant company like EA
wouldn't help anyway, there's a developer breakdown of trespasser somewhere on the internet. The problem they ran into was that the physics engine was to imprecise to do creating and a simple mouse interface isn't enough to do precise placing.
The game had to be redone at the last minute to change all the puzzles to destructive physics tricks. And that arm that was supposed to make you feel part of the world was as ungainly as the sword in die by the sword. We still don't have 3d mice on every desk so these problems would still exist (unless kinetic and Psmove are a lot better than they sound, actually using two move controllers as one full 3d controller may work but only if it's good) the arm would still feel unnatural and you still can't precisely place object without moving around the scene all the time.

On topic, a real remake of UFO enemy unknown, I still play that sucker every now and then.
The open source communities efforts are, while well intentioned and proceeding nicely, just horrid.

just answer the title.
For me it's pokémon yellow, call it nostalgia but the fact that you could legitimately use the TV show like an LP back then was just really fun for me, but failing that I've got 3 more options -
1.-super smash bros. on a handheld because it's been nearly 12 years now and there's only been 3 games(and this is NINTENDO)
2.+3.(because I'm lazy bunching them together)- Final Fantasy 13 + Metal Gear Solid 4 but you can play through the game instead without being interrupted by 10 hours of cutscenes and calls
Total Distortion. Does anything else really need to be said?

FF10-2: Superior gameplay, nobody expectated much from the story.

FF12: HAHAHA OH WOW. FF12 was the third best FF after 6 and 5. Battle mechanics were just as deep as any good FF but the actual act of fighting was greatly streamlined, a world as detailed and interesting as the later games in the series, but lacking the annoying people that live in them. A respectable cast for the first time since 6. An intimate setting with nothing pointless tacked on for length. FINALLY SOME FREAKING DECENT WRITING, and a main character that isn't actually the leader and yet he KNOWS HIS PLACE and performs his role as the tag-along apprentice admirably. FF12 was a departure from the crap of 7 onward, and it gets hated for not having all the stupid weeaboo dribble like DBZ-esque villains, teenage fanfic romance, and worthless sacks modeled after the real worthless sacks that play the games hogging the limelight to angst over their petty problems. Vaan is positive, adventurous, assertive, intelligent, and sociable. Pretty much the exact opposite of the people who play his game. I can see why everyone fails to relate.

FF13: A significant step down from 12, but that's like falling down a flight of stairs compared to flinging yourself of the roof of a skyscraper that 8 turned out to be. Brought back all the annoying weeaboo-isms of FF7-10, but at least the gameplay was solid, the battle mechanics were improved again, and the characters were just a little over the top, and not mind-grating like the PS1 games. No, Vanille is not that annoying. Not even close to Selfie, or Steiner, or ESPECIALLY WAKKA.

Final Fantasy 8 killed my childhood.

Mario Kart Double Dash remade with HD graphics and a few new tracks on the 360/PS3

If that happened, no one would ever see me again

Why do we need remakes? The originals haven't gone anywhere, if you're suffering from that much nostalgia, go play them. Esp. since Nintendo is the only one who seems to be able to do the remake well.
This.

If a game was good enough when it first came out then it should still be good enough.Developers should be concentrating on new games rather then remaking old stuff

Said it before, I'll say it again.

Remake the MSX Metal Gear games. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I'd be so happy to experience those chapters of the MG timeline in a form other than 8-bit. Not that I don't like 8-bit, but the menu system and combat were a bit buggered in those games, and fully remaking them would be epic, and would sell.

Other than that, I can't think of any game I would want remade. Every game I've enjoyed has been fine in its original form, and the outdated graphics give them a nice feel. I still prefer the graphics style to many PS1 era games such as Crash 3 to modern day graphics. I miss the days before everything was green/brown/grey.

I *want* to say Final Fantasy VII (on the off-chance no one has yet. :B) BUT - how much it would be censored would bug me (you can get away with a lot more in blocks-for-hands lego-vision than you can in every-sweaty-detail high-definition). Also... seeing SE's recent attempts at Final Fantasy, even the FFVII spin-offs, though enjoyable, lacked that craftsmanship and magic I felt the original game had. =( Unless they can get THAT back (and the entire original staff), I'm rather frightened by the idea of a remake.

Dues ex so that it you know... The graphics don't look like poorly made origami and the game doesn't control like ass.
